I’m off today. Yay! The kids have their end of year parties today. Then this afternoon is kind of a cluster. I have an appointment to get my hair cut. The kids have an end of year pool party DH and MIL will take them to. I have about a million things I need to do that would be much more easily accomplished without kids. And my outside counsel wants me to hop on a video teleconference to watch a moot court they are doing for a motion to dismiss. I seriously do not have time for it. And considering there will be 10 lawyers participating (it is multiparty litigation so not all mine), I really don’t see what I would add. But... cue the guilt.
The rest of the weekend is free! I want my BFF and her family to come swim at our house. Maybe do a shrimp boil. That’s it.

We actually have a fun weekend plan with things we want to do and not things we think we have to do.
Tonight we are getting pizza with our bff's and their kid. DD is 3 weeks older than their kid so it's fun watching them. I can't wait to drink wine with my bff.
Tomorrow DH and I are dropping the kids off at my mom's and going to order a playset. I've wanted to order him one for a couple years and my last commission check was a tad bigger since I didn't have to share with asshole, so it's finally happening. After we are going shopping, to a grad open house, church and movie night.
DH works Sunday but the kids and I have plans with a friend and her son. Other than that I need to go to the grocery and get some organization done around the house.
Monday DH and I have a workout and pitch in at our gym. We are all going to die together then eat and drink mimosas. I have finally found my people.
It’s field day today. The kids will have friends over because it’s Friday. Soccer practice until late.
Tomorrow DS swims and we have a family crawfish boil. Hoping to get to IKEA sometime. Gift shopping and EOY party shopping.
Sunday oldest has a party and I am going to a concert of a band that was popular when we were in college - girls night with BFF.
Monday we are hosting a swim/BBQ.
Somewhere in there I’d like a date with DH to celebrate this new job. I’m so scared that I haven’t been on top of planning - but we do need to celebrate this!
My plan is surviving. 20 more days of pregnancy. On my own with 3 kids. I am exhausted thinking about it. Luckily the older two are pretty self sufficient at this point.

Happy Friday!
I’m off today and my kid has started summer vacation. I made “no plans” this weekend so we of course have plans, but not too many and all good.
Today the girls and I are working in the yard. Our house and yard have been neglected with the rental nonsense so we have a ton of weeds because if two weeks of daily monsoons so we will be weeding and putting in a small butterfly garden. Plus we are taking our dog to the vet — I think the poor old girl has another uti. She had surgery for urine crystals last year so fingers crossed they aren’t back .
Tomorrow no family plans but I am going to try and get in a little shopping in the AM (I need new work clothes) and H and I are going out for Korean with friends for dinner. Sunday H has movie plans with friends and the girls and I will just hang and Monday I think we are going to lunch at my SIL’s a couple hours away as of like an hour ago. It is going to rain so if SIL doesn’t object I’m going to bring stuff for galaxy slime for the 6 kids. “No plans” indeed. 😂😂😂😆
I get out of work early today and I won a gift card at a PTA event yesterday, so I'm going to go buy myself some new tops for work. The girls and I will grill and hang in the screen house tonight while DH has a school event. Tomorrow we have the birthday party. Ice cream truck at the park, about 40 people coming. Fingers crossed no one just abandons their kid and parents hang around to help supervise. I think they will, from RSVP conversations I had. Then cookout with the in laws at their house, so no cooking or cleaning for me.
And then, NO PLANS for the rest of the weekend! Just hanging out as a family!
Tomorrow, I hope to hit the gym in the morning. Then I want to take the kids to the zoo if the weather cooperates. On Sunday, I have a massage in the early afternoon. Then we'll head to my parents' place for a cookout. On Monday, we don't have anything planned - maybe we'll go to a parade in the morning. Hopefully we can get the yard ready for summer. There is some cleaning and weeding that needs to be done ASAP.

Today is my Monday at work, so I'll be working all weekend. And to make things worse, I was given mandatory OT on Saturday and Sunday. It's always a busy weekend for my agency. DH got home late last night from his work trip. It was nice having him gone. He came home and it was as if he was looking for things that were out of place. Not unexpected due to his controlling behavior. Just a pity party here, party of 1.
DD1 has a softball game tonight. She was asked to play in the next division up tonight, but we don’t have many players so I want her to stick with her team.
Tomorrow we will swim all day and smoke a turkey for dinner. Maybe see if any friends are around. Sun and Mon are supposed to be crummy weather-wise, so prob not much.
I am only working 3.5 hours today! I have already been to awards this morning for DD, she won several - Literature, Science, Religion, All A, and perfect attendance. Then I had to swing by the high school to give DS medicine since his allergies are acting up. I am leaving at lunch and heading to a friends pool! DD is already there- they let out after awards, and Ds will come after school.
Dh is working Saturday and Sunday. My birthday is tomorrow. I have a birthday party to tomorrow. Not mine. A 30th birthday and I am definitely not 30. I have threatened all friends to not disclose my birthday. I plan on going to the party and enjoying food and drinks on the downlow.
Sunday we have two invites. A barbeque at the neighbors or a shrimp boil and swim party at the friend's. The neighbor is the lady who swings really high and low in her moods, rearranged the nativity scene when decorating for Christmas, and her daughter has been giving DS the cold shoulder all year. So shrimp boil it is. DH was planning on going to the neighbors after he gets off work around 7:30. I told him he should pick me and the kids up at the friends and we would join him. That way I could have enough beers in me by then to put up with some shenanigans.
We're going camping, which I normally love. I'm a little worried this time because there is no less than a 60% chance of rain each of the three days we'll be there. The kids love camping, but not so much in the rain.
I am chilling on the tarmac at Heathrow airport, the captain just came on and said that they didn’t know that the plane was coming, and aren’t ready for us? But whatever, I get home tomorrow afternoon. DH and the kids are picking me up from the airport tomorrow and we are heading up north ( about 3 hours away) for the rest of the long weekend. I’m so excited to be going home. Two weeks of back to back work trips, I’m done.
DH and I are going for margaritas late night tonight! I am old - this means we are going out at 9:00. He accepted the offer!
There’s a chance they will refuse to pay out his vaca and dismiss him immediately - which means no pay for next week. I am hoping that doesn’t happen, as he’s willing to work next week. But whatever, in the grand scheme of things he could use a week off if they decide to be jerks. And that’s why we have cash stashed, right?

It's 2:00 and we start "Summer Fridays" this week... so, I just cracked a beer! I'm going to go outside to get some weeding done, and then when H and the girls get home we'll have our first swim of the season!
It's supposed to be a pretty crummy weekend here. Saturday we have swim class. Sunday, I have a version of the "miserable workout followed by burgers and beers" that erinshelley21 is doing. Nothing planned for Monday.
We'll probably squeeze in a grocery shopping trip, but are otherwise trying to stay unscheduled. <aybe we'll try a fun rainy day activity like... roller skating? Who knows.
I would have thought the vaca payout was a law if accrued.
I took today off. I am taking 1/2 day Fridays to make up for the winter overtime hell, but this week was sooooo slow with half on vacation and half in training, and next week I will have to work all day so I decided to take the full day. DH and I worked a mystery and fooled around for the first time in way too long, and now he is off to work.
Tomorrow I finally get to reveal DH's birthday gift. I have been working on it for over 2 weeks. I'll share at the end of this post; it's long. Sunday DH is taking DD to visit MIL; it was a last minute plan and we can't board the dog so boo hop I have to stay home and have me time. Also I got sucked into an HOA volunteer thing. They will return Monday. I could use suggestions of shows or movies to watch.
The gift: It's a mystery! I will start by giving him an envelope marked "Top Secret" with a letter from the FBI, asking DH to participate in a case as a consulting detective. There's a clue in the letter and in the envelope, and it will lead him around the house until he solves the case and finds his real gift. I can barely stand it! Also DD made a video for it as an FBL agent (she read "FBI" as "FBL" and I just couldn't correct her) and it is HILARIOUS. I hope he enjoys it. I spent way too much money on shit like giant magnifying glass and markers that write in invisible ink.
Field Day just got cancelled for an insane rainstorm. That means DS got to do it this morning and DD is missing out this afternoon. Oldest just came home with a migraine.
Hoping things turn around and that middle DD isn’t a train wreck about Field Day being cancelled.
akafred, what a great idea! So... what is the "real gift" he finds at the end?
You know how he plays guitar and stuff while DD sings and makes up songs, and every year they put out a CD for her friends and stuff? Well the only thing he asked for was a super cheap electric bass just to put some background notes in her songs. So that was kind of a lame gift and he knew exactly what he was getting, so I wanted to jazz it up. The "mystery" is that a world famous musician (in this case, a bassist) was kidnapped and he has to figure out who, what the instrument was, and take the ransom to the drop point before time runs out. At the drop point is his gift.
Along the way he will find a case that looks like the kind a gun runner would use that they would open and show the merchandise (on tv or in a movie, I don't know reality lol). Or that you open up and there are a bunch of hundred dollar bills. Inside is "spy/detective stuff", some of which he'll need to solve the mystery and some of it just for fun. One thing inside is a Ring doorbell, which is a real gift of sorts but not a sexy one to unwrap, and also a couple of books, one of them is a funny book called "How to Become a Spy" ad one called "Escape This Book", an escape game in book format. So those are semi-real presents too.

akafred, that is seriously an awesome gift. My H's bday was last week. I got him a golf club. He literally sent me a link to his shopping caet on a second-hand golf stuff website... 🙄
On the way to our camping trip. We have 3 other families with us this time, and it’s the biggest campground we have been to. Should be fun! We have games in case of rain.
Ok I have a question about the mystery. Would it be better to reveal the URL to YouTube via invisible ink or another "secret" way, or to have it automatically play on the tv when he reaches a certain point? (Which would require me to actually do while his attention is diverted?
The weekend is starting well. I cut off 3 inches of hair and found 3 new dresses and a top at Loft, which btw is having a 40% off everything sale! So $120 total.
Btw I had never stepped inside a Loft before. Cute stuff!
Weekend somewhat up in the air because it’s supposed to rain every day. Boooo. We’d like to go to the Renaissance Fair. DH and I each used to go all the time as teens (in our separate states) and thought it would be fun. The outdoor pool opens but it’s not really warm enough yet by my standards to swim.
Other than that, gym, grocery shopping, cleaning, and yard work. Wheeeee!

Score! I might be hitting up the Loft Outlet tomorrow. I got an email about bogo shorts ...
