I was thinking about getting H a new pair of nicer work boots for father's day. He's got kind of a crappy-ish pair now, and he's been complaining about back pain. I was thinking a better/ more supportive pair could help with that.
Anyone have a hubby that wears work boots and has a brand they like? He's also a size 14, so that usually makes it harder to find something that works.
Look into superfeet for YH's back. They run around $50 but are totally worth the price. Most of the shoe stores that sell them fit them too. I know REI sells them for sure.

I second Merrells. I have big feet for a woman, so I wear men's boots. Mine have to be black tactical and I have a pair of Merrell Moab 2 that I was able to wear without my orthotics, do 16 hour shifts and my feet didn't hurt. The only problem is that they're too warm for the summer and my feet were sweating. But they do have breathable versions. Today I'm wearing a pair of Under Armour boots. They're good, they breath and were half the price of the Merrells, but I like the Merrells better. Stay away from Danner. I wore them for 13 years because that is what my agency issues for free. Danner is made in the U.S, but they were just hard on my feet.

When you say work boots, do you mean steel toed? I think Keens, Merrells, and Timberlands all make good steel toed boots. You could also consider composite toed boots. They have the protection, but don't weigh as much.
