I was wondering if anyone had a monthly subscription that they particularly enjoyed? Maybe something a little more creative/ unusual / personalized? I am looking to gift one to a friend that is going through something shitty. She's got 3 little ones, SAH, is into music, likes that bohemian look/ aesthetic.
Or just tell me about a subscription you enjoy even if it doesn't quite seem right for this situation.
I just started getting Cairn a outdoor subscription box (3 month commitment). I've ordered it towards DH's likes/interests and have been giving it to him. Last month was our anniversary so he got a few things that work for him and his upcoming hike. He will get some more of it for Father's day. Anything that doesn't fit DH will work as gifts for a couple of our friends that also are outdoor enthusiast.
I've heard Kiwi crate is good but have not tried it myself.
My coworker does the Fab Fit Fun. She's been going through a year of something shitty (the big C) and says it's basically been one of the best parts of her months.

I was just looking at that, it looks like you get a lot of / large size products!
helenahhandbasket, I follow MommyShorts on Instagram and her most recent un-boxing made me even more intrigued. Lots of full sizes and good stuff in there!
I've also subscribed to Quilty Box, which is all sewing/quilting supplies. I loved it, but since I don't have a lot of spare time, it kind of just became a pile of projects I'd never accomplish so I stopped it. That's a pretty niche subscription though...
I get two mystery subscriptions: Mystery Experiences Company and Hunt A Killer. I like both, differently. MEC is an all-in-one mystery that doesn't really build on prior boxes. It comes with usually a letter, newspaper, some photos and such, interview notes and the like, and some related goodies. I think I am going to cancel though as they have gotten worse and worse. Fewer goodies (last month the only goody was an "FBI" name badge and lanyard, where for the "Hotel" box you got a hotel pen, hotel note pad, and the tie that was the murder weapon - a real necktie), shorter newspaper, and when you go to solve the ciphers you find out they are unnecessary.
HAK is interesting because you get letters from the same guy each month with VERY cryptic clues pointing to things you're never quite sure if you figured out correctly until the end. We are 4 or 5 boxes into the "season" of like 8 boxes. I didn't think I would like it as much but it has grown on me and I like it more now.
I am slowly looking for my next one to replace MEC with. Problem is I want another self contained vs having to build on previous boxes, and I don't know if there are any.

DS gets Kiwi Crate and he loves it. It was originally a 6 month gift for his birthday last year. He needed a lot of help initially, and when the 6 months was up he was still loving it so I signed up for more. He is doing them more independently now, but still has room to "grow into" some of the skills needed to get the most out of it. Highly recommend.
I've only done beer of the month or La tote/ Stitch fix. DH has tried some of the other clothing ones.
Some of the book ones or make-up/ toiletries ones might be fun.
how did you feel about Le Tote?
I did it for a few months maybe a year or so ago and I felt like they didn't have enough special pieces and only had the same handful of kinds of items in my size.
Dh just signed us up for Gents Scents. It's a monthly subscription for car air fresheners. It's the weirdest frickin' subscription I've ever heard of, but so far we like it.
I got Orange Spice, and he got Cedar. They both smell very nice.
For us, it's mostly a fun novelty. But I could see this being a great investment for people who drive for Lyft or Uber, or maybe for people that carpool and want their car to smell nice, and not like a cheap air freshener.

I like new and different clothes, but I thought the selection could be bigger and shipping times faster because I would have liked more pieces.
