Celebrate: I came in 2nd in my age group in my 5K Saturday! There were not tons of women my age running the entire thing, but the age group was very broad 31-50.
DH took the birthday party I was dreading so I could take DD to a party at her on and off again BFF's. After them being totally awkward for a while, I finally said, OK you two what is the problem? Cue the shrugs, I don't knows, DD completely locking up, the other girls being silly and off topic. The other mom was with me trying to get it out of them. I think the problem is just the awkwardness of a 6th grader having a very serious boyfriend and DD being totally not there in terms of maturity. She has no use for a boyfriend hers or anyone else's.
Vent: I was sweeping in front of the grarage Friday night and had a back spasm. My back has been sore and stiff since. I tried to lift weights this morning and now it is worse. I guess it will just be cardio for the next week.
Celebrate 2: I only work 3 days this week. I took Thursday and Friday off to spend with the kids. Hopefully I can get in some rest and some fun activities too. I also need to take DS shopping because he goes to camp for a week next week.
Celebrate: Weekend was good. DS's baseball team won their game. I had coffee with a friend yesterday afternoon. I was able to get reservations for all the table service restaurants we want to eat at when we go to Disney World in December.
Vent: Today DS's class is having a "literary tea." DS was not happy about wearing the polo shirt and khaki shorts I picked out (ETA: his usual warm-weather attire is a t-shirt and basketball shorts), and then I see the moms of a few of his friends posting pictures of their sons in button-down shirts and ties. Now I feel like a failure.
Celebrate: The weekend was good. We did a TON of spring cleaning yesterday - cleaned out the shed, porch, and basement to declutter and finally get rid of the baby/toddler outdoor toys to make space for the big kid toys. Celebrate: I've rediscovered my love for yoga and have been taking a weekly class and doing videos at home. I set myself the personal goal to complete a "30 Days Of Yoga" challenge and so far I'm really enjoying it! Forcing myself to take 30 minutes a day for myself is really nice and it doesn't require me to leave the house and make a bunch of arrangements with our schedule. The girls have even told me they find it fun and have been doing some of the easier videos with me. Vent: Pollen is out of control right now and it's making me feel terrible. Hoping the rain today and tomorrow clears it all up and I can get back to normal.
Celebrations - I have been running consistently for 2 weeks now. I have really cut back on yelling at 3.5 year old - I mean, it still happens more than I'd like, but I'd say screaming has been reduced by at least 75%. We are having crockpot fajitas tonight, which are my new favorite week day meal (and the leftovers are the best of the best).
Vent - This is a very busy work week for me. I have a few reports that are always due this week... plus two reports that I should have published almost 2 weeks ago. Oops. And a bunch of random special projects have been dumped on me. It has been raining forever. Our yard is super-swampy. So help me God, I will lose what's left of mind if this upcoming weekend is rainy and we can't use the pool. Again.

Please share the recipe! I'm always looking for more crockpot meals.
I dump the following the crockpot on low for 8 hours: 3 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breast 1 of each of the following chopped up - onion, green pepper, red pepper, yellow pepper, orange pepper 2 cups of salsa with 2 packets of fajita seasoning and 1 packet of taco seasoning. (Note - this is what makes it SO yummy. But it is HORRIBLY full of sodium. Next time, I'm going to cut it in half. And then I might cut it out.)
When we make the fajita, we add sour cream, guac and cheese. When I take it for lunch, I make 1 small fajita and add cauliflower rice in it to stretch it, and add more of the chicken mixture on top. By then time lunch rolls around, the tortilla is squishy and surprisingly yummy!

I ended up with mandatory OT yesterday, so my 8 hour day turned into 13. I have my 4 day weekend next weekend and I'm really looking forward to being away from work.
FWP: I'm tired of people stopping by my office in the mornings telling me how tired they are from their fun weekends. Meanwhile, I'm exhausted from all of this OT.
Weekend was quiet. DD1 was on lockdown for recent behavior stuff, but was like a new kid on Sunday. DH and I got into it about his repeated criticism about the way I'm handling the kids, so I let him to ALLLLLLL the parenting on Sunday. He fell asleep at like 9pm.
I reached out to a possible consulting lead over the weekend. I have also started a report for a second lead, who requested that I audit her site and her online presence. Both are in need of some help, so hoping I can turn it into something. Because I will still have all SAHM responsibilities, my goal is to work enough to cover tuition for the kids - very low 5 figures per year. Since the new school's website is also a bit of a mess, I'm hoping I might be able to add them as a client as well.
It's rainy and cold here today, so I'm making zucchini lasagna tonight for dinner. It's my favorite and I'm so excited!
Celebration: I survived the weekend; I swear work is easier on me than staying home with the kiddo.
Vent: My kid is 3 and wants to argue with me about everything. I wake up each morning with the best of intentions of being patient with him and then it fails after the 4th time of me trying to brush his teeth and he wants to do a, b, c, and d first.

Living my life for the last year and a half. I swear DS is going to grow up to be a hostage negotiator.
This is the recipe that I use as the guide. I don’t make my own sauce - I use Rao’s marinara with some Marsala wine in it. I brown meat (I usually use ground chicken or turkey), then simmer it in the sauce for 15-20 mins.
It is a lot of steps, but it makes at least 2 nights of meals for us.
DD1's birthday party was Saturday with her K class and she had a ball. We had 15 kids and none of the parents stayed (I had assumed this since none have stayed at other parties). Thankfully, my mom and our best friends were there to help with our baby and herding the kids. DD2 didn't feel well so DH was out of it helping with her. We spent all day Sunday staying on top of DD1 to write the thank you cards. She literally sat at the table from 9am to 6pm writing cards because she kept whining and crying about it. "Back to the table DD1" Not how I wanted to spend my day but she is going to damn well learn about showing appreciation.
Vent: On Saturday, I did two cardio workouts before 10 am. When I got home, I found DH asleep on the floor while the kids crawled all over him. So I gathered the kids and took them to an indoor bounce house place and then to Sheetz for a smoothie and a snack. By the time I got home, DH was up and moving. I proceeded to do the dishes, wipe down the kitchen counters, vacuum, and tidy up the living room and play room. After I fed the kids, I bathed them and got in the shower myself. Then I parked my butt on the couch after I put DS1 and DS2 to bed. Then DH was trying to get lucky with me. Umm, no dude. I'm exhausted from running around all day while you napped.
Patio project is super slow moving. Moving 16x16 stone tiles is heavy work and being the worst city in the country for pollen over the weekend didn't help. 1st Communion party was interesting and nice to spend time with all of our old daycare buds who we don't see all the time anymore. DD seemed kind of lost as they were playing and referring to all this cartoon TV stuff that she had no clue what it was. DD watches very little TV and what she does watch isn't cartoons. Oh well. Sent out b-day invites last night for Saturday the 16th from 10am-12. DD decided she wants everyone to paint rocks and just have a mellow party so will see how that goes.
mellym, good for you on the thank you cards, although I'm impressed that she can write enough to actually write one!
I got back from my little trip with the kids on Saturday. It was a whirlwind, kid centric trip. DH kind of missed us but is not jealous of what we did because no adult would want to do any of it. Promise.
As I get back, what welcomes me but the task of organizing Friday grill outs at our neighborhood pool. People say they want to attend, but no one wants to host. I hate this part of the summer and I swear, this is the last year I'm doing this. Period.
We had a really good weekend. First swim lesson, lots of time as a family in the pool, new couches were delivered and old ones given to the grown cousin of one of DD’s friends. We went to the book store and found books for DD to read. It seemed like we were pretty relaxed and just laughed a lot. It was nice.
Oh, and I made a stuffed triceratops for DS. He loves it. So yay! I got to sew and DS got a toy he’s been asking for!
Today has been all MONDAY...can't print, computers don't talk to each other, clients being PITA. Copy repair guy in now and yes it is a machine issue not a IT issue meaning we don't have to pay big bucks and wait weeks for IT with the copy machine to call. I'm just am ready to throw in the towel and call the day over and it is only 1ish.

Wow congrats on the accomplishment rere, that's awesome!
Oh crap mae0111, that's happened to me a few times. (not the drone store, but someone getting a hold of my CC). It's a pain, but im sure you won't be held liable.

I always felt like being at work was a break. Which might be weird to some, but to me I got to sit and leisurely drink a cup of coffee, socialize at lunch with peers, and just not have to worry about a small person.
I do see the merit in SAH with an older child. Now that DD is in public school, I find myself legit juggling between work, her extra curriculars, her wanting me to go on field trips and the extra burden of what the heck are we going to do with her during the summer. I am so thankful my mom (who is semi retired) is willing and able to cart her around after school.

My weekend was fine, except my flight out was delayed so I didn't get to the hotel till 1:30 am, and now my flight back is delayed so I won't be home till 2:00 am. And I think I caught DH's cold. And our nanny just texted to tell me that she's really sick and likely will be out for multiple days. I hate today.
@twinmama, which yoga video do you do? I've been looking for a good home yoga video for ages.

I do Yoga With Adriene on YouTube. Tons of options with playlists by time or type. And free!
Oh Monday... It was going so well! Got out of work on time and ran two errands before grabbing the kids. Had a plan for dinner, ready to go. Nailed it!
Then realized I left my laptop at work and I'm supposed to WFH tomorrow. Drove an hour round trip with the kids to get it. They were in pajamas because of spirit week at school so it looked really great to my coworkers... and then McDonald's on the way home for dinner. I guess you can't win 'em all...lol

Monday ended up being pretty good. Next Monday is my last day with students so lots of mixed feelings there. I am excited for summer. DH is also a teacher so it will be nice to have more family time. DS has a great day at school and did well in his Tae Kwon Do class.
Vent: The weekend coming will be great and full of family, but it will be super busy. Trying to rally!

A bagel and a knife teamed up and won a battle with my finger last night. I probably should have went to the ER for stitches, but talked myself out of it. So I'm going to the doctor this morning. I'm worried that they're going to cause me even more pain.
