I’m sorry about your Dad. I realized back in December that the day of my Dad’s passing is harder than Father’s Day. Even though it’s been 10 years, I just always get the feels that day. DH doesn’t understand. Thankfully, he hasn’t experienced the loss.
We don’t celebrate Father’s Day so no big deal in our house. If it’s hot, my family will probably come over so the kids can all swim and hang out.
I'm buying dh a Nintendo switch and will do whatever he wants for food that day. FIL died in October so this will be dh's first father's day without his dad. I'll just play it by ear to see how he's feeling.

That’s a nice gift! I got h one at Xmas and he’s really enjoyed it.
I tease dh all the time about his video games and tell him they're not appropriate gifts for an adult. Then I run off to game stop to buy whatever it is he wants. I dropped the ball at Christmas because I thought I could surprise him with a game. Nope. I got the wrong genre or whatever. So this time I'm sticking to exactly what he tells me. The switch looks cool so I'm eager to play it too.
So sorry for your losses. I have no plans and don’t live close, so every year is a struggle for me to come up with an idea. Which usually means sending my sister money via PayPal to buy his dinner and sending him a random GC to some clothing or golf store.
