Yesterday I went to the tailor again. He fixed my tap costume and made tweaks to my jazz costume before finishing it. He finally apologized and I remained calm throughout. I was there for about 45 minutes because there was trying on, taking off, him making tweaks, doing it all over again. So now life is good! Jazz dress rehearsal this evening and then performances Saturday and Sunday.
It's my Friday! And it's my brother's wedding weekend! And I tried on my dress and not only is it not too snug in back, it's actually bit loose on top now and is going to require some creative safety pinning since there's no time for alterations. LOL/whoops (it seems easy enough to safety pin the one-shouldered side to shorten the strap and bring it all up an inch so my bra isn't peeking out on the no-shoulder side)
We're leaving first thing tomorrow morning, should arrive at around 1pm to our hotel, we'll be over at the new IL's house for a meet and greet in the afternoon, then the rehearsal at 5 and dinner. Then all the wedding craziness on Saturday. I asked my SIL if she needed help with anything, and now I have a large checklist of things to oversee - delivery of flowers, making sure the cake is delivered and all the tables are set up correctly and decorated, etc. I guess I'm now the day-of coordinator.
And my mother just announced she's going to come visit for a week in August, because FL is too hot. Just invited herself on over, which I'm generally fine with, but what the F does she expect me to do during the work week? I can take a few days off, but I'm not taking a week of vacation days just to take her on day trips around the area. She doesn't know anyone else here, so it's not like I can leave her to her friends for a day or two.
Also, because I've now been searching for the past 10 minutes: how is it possible that there is not ONE SINGLE SAFETY PIN in this entire house? Not one. WTF, self? Now I'm going to have to make a Target trip to buy a pack of 50 pins when I only need one.
chalupa: any chance you have thread that matches and can just do a whip stitch to shorten the strap?
The heat and humidity are supposed to be returning to the area today. I am not excited about this. I already have a headache and the humidity will just make it worse.
I have to respond to a challenging client’s attorney today. I’ve been dealing with him for 3 weeks and I’m to the point when I want to say: either agree to the contract right now or we walk. But I won’t do that.
Good luck with your rehearsal, tiramisu. I’m glad he is finally fixing his tailoring!

That is a brilliant idea, thank you! The shoulder had a giant floppy bow on top of it, so even if I use non-matching thread, it really shouldn't show. This won't harm a crepe fabric, will it? (disclosure: M sews even my buttons back on for me. I am fairly useless)

Speaking of alterations...I wonder if my wedding dress is done?! I have something else to alter so I think I'll just casually inquire when I drop the other dress off, lol.
I went yesterday to check out the park where we are getting married to try and finalize the spot. I was LOLing because at one spot there was a couple who seemed like they were, uh, trying to get a little romantic P doesn't care where we get married in that park because he liked all three spots. I emailed the photographer and told her we may have to be flexible between two of them in case something like that happens next Thursday. Lol.

Good luck with the lawyer, idahome ! Have fun, chalupa ! Congrats to your brother! Glad the costume was fixed, tiramisu !
For funsies, for a limited time only, here's my costume for Saturday. PDQ. I look ridiculous, and it's hilarious....I texted DH the photo with the caption, "Think you can handle this much sexy?" He replied "Nope."
My aunt, who turned 73 this year, was moved to a nursing home yesterday. She's confused, can no longer walk long distances, falls out of bed, and is incontinent. It's really sad. We knew it was coming but jesus, to see it is something else. she's also on anti psychotic meds and is generally out of it. Her decline is pretty massive.
Some great news at work: the powers that be have given me the thumbs up to be a strengths finder coach and implement it into our culture, reviews, goal setting, etc. I've been wanting my career to take this kind of turn for a long time! It's really exciting.
