I got one yesterday for $1700 for newborn nursery. Here's the kicker - when I delivered there was NO nursery in the hospital! A new one was being built but hadn't opened yet, and the old one had closed. There was a temporary nursery set-up in one of the rooms on the floor. All babies were roomed-in with NO choice. Why am I getting a $1700 nursery bill?

That may be the fee to have a pediatrician on call in case the baby needed resuscitation. Both of my girls went with their own "resuscitation teams" to be checked out, even though they didn't literally need resuscitation and were breathing fine. It's when they do the APGAR and all that jazz. (But: medical billing is ridiculous.)
She needed resuscitation. They had a team on stand-by because of meconium in the water and then she wasn't breathing.
It just kinda sucks seeing it on a bill. I forget a lot that her first hour was kind of rough.
Ah. I know what you mean about the forgetting. I'm kinda thankful I was hopped up on Versed when the transport team took Claire away in her little plastic box.
Ha! For a while it was a contest as to whether Claire or I would have the bigger bill. She won, hands down. But I racked up over $30k myself (thank God we have insurance). She was over $200k. Thank God for insurance and Medicaid for disabilities.
