Just heard from the nurse. All embryos made it to blast. I am shocked! Three years ago we did a 3 day transfer (resulted in DD) because the embryos looked so bad and only one made it to freeze (resulted in CP). And this time all that fertilized made it to blast. All were biopsied (except for the one we transferred fresh), so if this doesn't work, we've got a clear path forward.

I really wonder if the lab has new technology/procedure that they are using now? I had the same experience, three years ago 7 fertilized eggs resulted in 3 Blasts, this time 7 fertilized eggs resulted in 5 blasts. I thought it was maybe dumb luck but hearing your results makes me curious (and grateful).

It's quite possible. There's always new research happening, which results in improvements in success rates. My doctor has been doing a research study on which substrates (is that the right word?) the embryos grow best on. There's another study my clinic is conducting to improve embryo culture & incubation systems. Here's the brochure if you're interested in reading it www.rmanj.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LO2-Brochure.pdf
Isn't science amazing?
Interesting! Well chalked it up to a better sperm sample, haha. Science makes more sense

greengardener, I’m about on your schedule. 30 follicles, but only a few are >14, so most likely I trigger Monday for a Weds retrieval. Which is actually extremely crappy timing for us, so that sucks.
Did stimming (or OHSS) suppress anyone else’s appetite? I’m mildly nauseous and just not very hungry most of the time.
Yep. Same here. I'm basically forcing myself to drink my salty drinks but I'm so not hungry.
Well, I guess I’m glad to know it’s normal?? I’m blowing up like a balloon but I should have lost about a pound in the last week for lack of calories. Avoiding carbs is way easier with no food cravings.
Failed cycle. Don’t know about next steps. I’m devastated. Even though you know the risks, you can never prepare can you?
I’m so sorry Mel. It’s so incredibly difficult and no matter what mental gymnastics you do to try to weigh the risks it’s pretty impossible to prepare. Sending you so much love.
