I love this recap- congrats on your first half, and on conquering all the many obstacles in your way to get there. It sounds like such a cool event. And you had a killer time, especially in the intense heat at the start, and not to mention no road closures. Awesome swag too :-)

Re. the pre-race calorie thing, I use Tailwind to drink calories when either my tummy can't take real food and/or I don't have enough time to digest before an early race/run.
