As I was lying in between DS and DD at 4am, DS says, "It's a love sandwich. You're the cheese. The cheese is the heart. It's better than chocolate."
So I'm changing my name to HeartofCheese, serving grilled cheese for dinner, making a donation to the Dairy Farmers of America, and eating nothing but cheese for the rest of our lives.

Yay dairy farmers! Hardest working people I know.
DS says stuff that amazes me every day. I'm starting to wonder if he has a photographic memory. He was describing his new bubble wand in detail, telling me how many circles and other shapes were on there. I asked him if he had counted them or if he just had a picture in his head. He said he had the picture in his head and he had been thinking about it.
DS is a wonderfully funny little guy - but not always typical little boy humor so it surprises me. Yesterday he ordered a war machine flavored sno cone. When I asked him why he said “because I want to know what metal tastes like” then laughed and said “I don’t want to know what metal tastes like, it’s a political statement.” And rolled his eyes. At me. It’s all in the delivery...then he started making up political sno cone flavors and that wasn’t funny, it was sad “immigration policy would be ocean water for tears” and I can’t remember the rest.
We have been reading kids news articles as bed time stories and he’s been sleeping better - I think it was the 5th graders discussing policy with him was not all appropriate delivery or content.
Mom bought bunk beds for the impending invasion of the out of state cousins for the summer. DS and DD thought it would be great if we could knock down our bedroom walls and have one big bedroom and we could all sleep in bunks. I said we might as well have one bathroom too with several shower and toilet stalls. They concurred. So my theory that we should have built a one bed, one bath, with just huge rooms house is still correct. At least they still like us and want to be with us, proven by the fact that now DD has been sleeping in our room the last 2 nights because she just wants to be with us.
DD is such an intense little rule follower but she has such a kind, grateful heart. We took them to a concert last night at the botanical gardens that was followed by fireworks. She was so happy to see the symphony up close and personal. I got tickets from my work, so we had a front row table. She kept saying “Our family is so lucky. We got to have a great vacation. We got to see the symphony. We live in a neighborhood with all these great places like our ice cream shop and Wendy’s and Taco Bueno.” I think encouraging her to be grateful is one of the things we did well as parents.
DS is just a hoot. When we were in Hilton Head swimming, he swam over and said “Hold me for a minute, Mama. My penis boob itches and I need to scratch it.” He meant his scrotum. But in our house, a scrotum will forevermore be a penis boob.
My donut client just brought us in a giant bakery box full of big ass donuts plus a bag with 2 dozen donut holes. My willpower is dying.
DD who is at work with me today...Papa Papa we have donuts! lots and lots of donuts!
This morning I rush into DD's room and told her we overslept and she goes on saying what does overslept mean and wants a full on discussion and I'm going we need to move it now. We had to leave the house in 5 minutes and we left in 10 so I say it was a mission accomplished.

DD (3) is quite the drama queen. Lately, whenever we tell her no or she's unhappy about something, she lets out an exasperated sigh, declares that "I feel so deflated", and then slowly crumbles onto the floor. It's extremely funny to watch.
In the spring, we were visiting my parents without DH. DD usually sleeps in a room with me when we’re at their place, but on this night she wanted to sleep in their room. They get up a lot and watch tv and talk in the middle of the night so they didn’t really want her in there. I said “sleep in my room with me so we can be together all night.”
Her reply: “mommy. You and me are attached by invisible strings. We’re always together even when we’re apart.”

DS calls the newly built power substation by our house a "power tower" and that is what all of them are called now. I dont even know the actual name of them. He also hasn't stopped singing Christmas songs and the song 12 days of Christmas contains mistakes like "8 majors milking" and a "fartridge in a pair tree" DD dances anytime you ask her of she wants meal or snack. I also just watched her pick food off the couch and eat it like she didn't just eat 2 pancakes and some blueberries.

DD dug 2 strawberry cherrios out of her cars seat to eat as a snack today on her way to school. This was after she turned her nose up at 3 little powdered donuts with a side of strawberries and instead ate that hard boiled egg (that she didn't want me to peel).
Yesterday we told DD that she was loosing TV privileges when she wouldn't help clean up yesterday, and so DS got all concerned about her and went over to her and asked her if she would help him clean up a particular mess of toys. He then kept loudly saying -- look mom, she's really doing it! Isn't she doing a good job! She's really making up for not cleaning before, don't you think?!
DS only made it through half the fireworks before curling up in DH's lap and falling asleep. DD excitedly kept jumping out of her chair and squealing. She stayed up until 10pm last night without falling asleep once.
They're both so awesome in completely different ways.
