Yippee! I had a bunch of little moles removed yesterday (8), and frankly can’t find any work clothes that don’t rub a hurt spot, so I’m taking a sick day today. I already planned to leave early this afternoon to get a haircut, so if I needed to be out, today is a good day.
We are taking the kids to a “play day” at their school tomorrow for 2 hours. Other than that, we are FREE! DD has volleyball camp next week as well as her 6th birthday! So I’ll spend some time doing something for her.
Out at 1:30 to start vacation!!! Of to the Rockies! I hope it is all we hope for and more. I've already booked a jeep for Sunday, the kids want to do the alpine slide, we plan on hiking the national park. Wednesday - Friday we will be in Colorado Springs for Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods and whatever else we can find. I hope to fit in some fire pit sitting and relaxing also - I have wine and coffee for the occasion.

Today is my "Monday" and the start of a 7 day week. But when I get through the next 7 days, including OT tonight, I'll have 19 days off!
I came into work this morning and had an email from my former supervisor who was recently promoted. He put me in for an "on the spot" cash award. It will probably only be $100-200, but that was still very nice of him.

In consideration of the fact that it's stupid to have a holiday on Wednesday, I took half a day yesterday and got my nails done, and I'm taking half a day off so I can go get my car serviced (not nearly as fun but similarly desperately needed).
I have a long bike ride tomorrow, DD has gymnastics, and then I absolutely have to take the kids to get a hair cut. DS technically looks ok but DD looks like Janice from the muppets and I'm thoroughly ashamed that I didn't take her 2 weeks ago.
My sister's church is doing snow cones in the park from 3pm to 5pm, which sounds fun and maybe we'll go...but at the same time that's literally the heat of the day. OMG I hate the heat right now. Just getting the kids in the car I find I'm drenched with sweat.

mommyatty, I’d like to have some moles removed from my face for cosmetic reasons but I’m worried about recovery time. Trying to time it perfectly. Sounds like you chose a perfect day.
We are going to SILs house tonight to celebrate my MILs bday. The rest of the weekend is open but I’d like to start preparing for our new floors and kitchen which will involve some packing up and moving around. Plus I need to start picking out the floors, countertops, backsplash and all that good stuff. The weather will be picture perfect - sunny and low 80s so I anticipate lots of pool time too.
I just want summer to slow down. I started putting some plans on the calendar for August and it seems like summer is over even though it just started.
I like a genius had the mole on my face removed (needed a biopsy or I would not have) the day before my big 40th birthday party. I can’t imagine that being under clothes - ouch mommyatty!
I’m watching Jurassic Park with the kids while updating a spreadsheet. Pretty decent Friday! All three have dentist appointments this afternoon then a 7:45 soccer game. DD struggles with these late games.
Last night after soccer they played cricket - they were invited onto the pitch by a boy DS met at summer school. It was pretty awesome and one of those “love our community” moments.
Sad - another of my team is retiring. With our reorg I now have no FTEs (with two spots open, since January) and I am starting to freak out. I can’t handle the rest of summer and Fall like winter and spring were.
This week has been a blur. I worked on Monday and Tuesday and took the rest of the week off. But of course someone would schedule a meeting for noon today even though my calendar clearly shows that I am out of office. I ended up working all morning, so I'll be taking a half day of vacation later this month.
We didn't really do anything for the 4th since there was rumbles of thunder all day. So the kids played in the pool and we watched fireworks from our yard. DD and DS1 had a ball and DS2 slept through them.
We are getting the house ready for our annual birthdays celebration tomorrow afternoon. Since DH, DD, and my birthdays are within a few days of each other, we have one big party with our family to celebrate. I spent the day shopping for last minute stuff yesterday while DH spent time with his dad and mom. MIL is getting discharged from the hospital today. She'll be getting hospice care at home. DH and FIL met with the hospice coordinator yesterday and had a very good discussion with her. DH said FIL seemed at ease and confident in his decisions with hospice.
On Sunday, we have no plans yet as it depends on how MIL is doing at home. It is my actual birthday on Sunday, so I would like to do something, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Tomorrow we are getting passports in the am, and big DS has fencing. I will probably take DD and little DS grocery shopping. My niece and nephew will join us for dinner.
Sunday no plans except a long run.
I’m off for summer break but I work more days than most so Im working all next week. Kids will go to camp and daycare.
I miscalculated my first marathon training. I thought it wouldn’t start until July 21 but it starts this weekend. Oops! I’m going to stop eating crap after this bag of chips.

mustardseed2007 I dont mind taking my car for work. It's about the only opportunity I have to read a book.
We have an easy weekend here. I'm finishing up a CE class today then taking 2 assessments for my interview Tuesday. I'll go workout at some point then DD and I are going to target while ds spends time with mil. They are working on his 4H "project" that he isn't old enough for but still insists on making. It's going to be judged too I guess.
Tomorrow DH and I are wanting to go to the gym and then we are having a date day while my mom watches the kids. I dont know what we are doing but we need it.
Sunday is a birthday party and I have a mom date with one of my besties. We are running. I dont even recognize myself anymore.
No plans for the weekend. I should probably make some but it's kind of late in the week to hit up friends. We just had a lot with coming home from vacation and buying a new car and the 4th for us to set something up for this weekend.
We have a family vacation coming up at the beginning of August and then the kids go back to school the 15th of August. It's super early here, but they got out before Memorial weekend.
So I just booked our first campsite/ camping trip. Wow. I never though we would ever go camping because you know with kids its hard. DH is not a camper. And I went soo much as a kid that all I want is hot showers. So pray for us.
tomorrow we are packing up the kids and meeting my brother and some of our friends to watch the Sweden/England game. DD1 wants to wear her Swedish national dress so I'll probably put the littles in their Swedish stuff too.
We are leaving tomorrow for a week at the beach! The weather looks great - not oppressively hot like it has been - comfortable and sunny. I'm excited to do things like go for bike rides, mini golf, and just hang on the beach. I bought myself so many good books to read...
So today is laundry and packing. Grocery shopping is done, which is excellent.
I am supposed to be on vacation. On my way to ILs for our annual family reunion. Taking conference calls on drive up to make sure I meet next weeks deadlines. Yesterday, I woke up with hives on my face and neck. They kept me up all night and now I am slathered in cream and started taking steroids. I look like I have GOT greyscale. Great way to greet 25 family members I haven’t seen in a year.
sunbutter, that sounds terrible! What are the hives from?
erinshelley21, way to go on the interview! Good luck!
We have absolutely nothing on the calendar for this weekend. It feels weird but good. We were supposed to be leaving for a week long vacation in two weeks but had to reschedule because my nephew did break his arm badly. Now we have to wait 6 weeks to go. Oh well, gives me more time to plan for our road trip and activities. I will probably spend the weekend rescheduling the rest of the plans and appointments. I got DD1's camp switched around already so that's a relief.
Re: the moles. One was on the right side of my right boob. That one is the WORST!!! There is just no bra that doesn’t touch your boob. Though a bunch on my thighs look terrible right now, and those show if they aren’t covered in bandaids.
Saturday is our first ballet free Saturday in months. We have a birthday party to attend, are planning to take a massive haul of stuff to Goodwill (nothing like donating to realize how much money is wasted on things that you either didn't want or didn't live up to expectations... beyond just the regular "the kids outgrew it" necessity type stuff), a playdate for the kids (and me), and then haircut day for me and DD on Sunday. The girl who I *love* came back to the salon we go to, so we're both pretty excited about that.
I am also contemplating painting our master bathroom. If I do that without too much trouble it will set off a chain reaction.
Question for the design-friendly folks here... our entire interior is gray. It's a lovely gray that I would, in general, love. But the entire house is outfitted with brown/earth tones. Warm wooden floors, earth color tiles, brown granite, etc. So the gray paint just doesn't fit in most rooms. I don't have it in me to paint EVERYTHING in this big house, but I'm contemplating doing anything that butts up against the brown tile. So the kitchen/family room combo, and two bathrooms. Is it weird to have two neutrals throughout the house? (So we'd have two tan bathrooms, one white, a tan kitchen/family room, the living room, entryway, stairway, upstairs hallway, and all the bedrooms (except DD's, which we already painted purple) would all be gray.
So paint some rooms? Or should I just leave well enough alone and learn to tolerate the gray? Painting it all by myself is not an option, neither is shelling out $$ on a pro.
k3am , My house is all different colors, so I vote it is OK.
Try it with one bathroom and see how you like it. I am sure you can get the rest of the house painted at some point in time even if it is years later. So if painting something would make you happier now do it. The only reason to have it perfect is to sell it, and I don't see you selling it any time soon.
You could also try to make the tan paint match the gray as much as possible or opt for a color that matches the gray a bit better while still matching the accessories like a lighter tan maybe.
sunbutter, that sounds terrible! What are the hives from?.
I have no idea which makes it even more annoying and disturbing. My DH is a physician and I am a cell biologist and we are stumped. My go to answer is virus but he isn’t buying it.
sunbutter - for me, it’s the chemical in artificial crab, that is also used in random processed meats like sausage on pizza. It took years and a random conversation with my daughter’s immunologist while discussing family history, but he nailed it. It may be worth googling the random things you have eaten and the search term allergy. FWIW a double dose of Benadryl stops mine. I hope you figure it out and recover quickly!
Nothing planned. Quiet weekend of house projects. I finally got the pool filled so DD wants to play in the freezing water. I'm ready to go back to work to have some downtime without DD. DH has a blast on his "needed trip" to see his dad by going exploring around Oregon while I was stuck dealing with the scared dog and DD over the 4th. I'm very tired and cranky.
k3am try Benjamin Moore’s revere pewter. It’s a very tan gray color and is very popular, versatile and pretty. It may blend the earth tones and gray nicely while still being neutral.
Dh has a race and won’t be home until after midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning. The kids and I have a play date /dinner for Sat and then we are going to a MLB game on Sunday.

We should trade houses. We bought a new house about two years ago and the whole thing is tan. I would love to paint the whole thing gray but i don’t have the time or the $$$$ for someone else to do it. We’ve been thinking about painting our master gray bc I feel like gray is so calm and soothing for rooms you sleep in. But I’m lazy. So it will probably remain tan. I did buy a new bed that’s a browny gray so if I do ever muster up the energy it will still work in a gray room and looks good currently in our tan room.
