I am hoping to hear back about my three PGS tested embryos this week. I’m so nervous.
We are have to decide if we are staying at our university or moving to another where we both have a good offer. There are pros and cons to both and we just can’t decide.
compassrose , that's awesome that you both have offers! When do you have to decide?
The next 24-48 hours?? I'm literally nauseous with making this decision. Going is better if we are willing to stay long enough (because moving will kill our productivity for a couple of years), but my partner isn't sure he wants to stay that long. Staying is the much easier choice, particularly if I'm successful in getting pregnant, but we'd miss out on some things (having a lab right on the lab we study, being part of a community that cares about the issues we work on). Ugh.
I still got nothing. Another 2 weeks of BC and then I'll go in for an ultrasound and more blood work. I'm crossing my fingers the cyst is gone so we can finally start IUI which has been cancelled 3 times already.
Holy shit this is a roller coaster. I just talked to the doctor, and both embryos came back normal from this past cycle! I'm shocked. So now we're changing plans (again) and going back to transfer this month.
WOW!! That's fantastic! I hope I get mine as soon, too

And because today couldn't suck enough... I just got a call from my RE saying my initial consult tomorrow is going to cost $540, because I have zero infertility coverage with BCBS. (I knew I didn't have coverage, but they said they'd try to fight for it).
HOW FANTASTIC.
Any specific loans I can take out for infertility treatments? Because I cannot afford to pay $540 every time I need to see this dude.
There is Care Credit. Or payment plans. Usually though, past the initial consult, the rest of the visits are packaged into your total cycle cost (whatever you end up doing).
The board ate my post. We are 100% out of pocket too. The first appointment was a set fee, the rest was part of the ivf package. But there were plenty of other expenses that they didn’t tell me about until it was time and obviously you have no other choice. Ask them what other expenses might come up, testing, sounding ultrasound, OR charge, hotspot all charge, because it adds up fast and it’s really upsetting to see the costs pile up past the already outrageous number.
Thank you. I just wrote all that down in my phone to ask tomorrow.
Now how do I go about finding a job that has infertility health insurance? lol. *sob*
Any chance you close to any state that has mandated IF coverage? They generally have a lot of exclusions of what they will and won’t cover but every little bit helps.
My first retreival is tomorrow - I’m nervous! Mostly I don’t know how it will be possible for me to not drink anything after midnight tonight. I drink a TON of water. I think that’s giving me the most anxiety out of anything right now! Trying to pound even more water today so hopefully it will be easier.

What time is your retrieval? Hopefully in the morning!

My DH got a WFH home job with a California tech company. And even then, they didn't offer coverage until last year.

No I'm in North Carolina. Originally from Boston though, so now I'm doing cost analysis of how much a move home plus the cost of living would be in order to get state coverage. I think staying here and paying out of pocket would probably be cheaper, ironically.

@slk4117, CNY is opening a branch in Atlanta next year, and they are about as affordable as IVF gets. I would completely understand not wanting to wait that long (but they also have a ton of patients who travel to NY like me).

I mean, I’ll drive 6 hours one way if it saves me thousands of dollars.
IVF plus PGS plus FET plus meds plus travel is under $10K for me.

I am in a mandated state, but my private company opts out and it’s a huge company, so yeah it still sucks.

Hopefully your procedure is in the morning. When you get there, they start you on IV, so you don't get dehydrated (assuming they all do the same?). They had me take a pepcid when I got there, and that 1/2 oz. of water was the best thing I had ever tasted!

Ask your nurse, but ours told us to set the alarm in the middle of the night and drink a big glass of water. It really helped.
This is my plan. I’m literally setting an alarm for 11:50 pm and pounding water.
