In the spring it seemed like for me it was all about playdates. DD met a couple of girls and we got together 3 times in 3 months which is pretty good. And we saw our other friends a couple of times, and did another playdate.
It seems like the summer my friendships have fallen down the radar since we are doing a ton of trips. It not necessarily a bad thing, but I worked too hard at them to let them slip away. Hopefully we will get back into the swing of things in the fall. It seems like DH has been struggling with planning things because of being busy at work, so I have been the one planning weekend getaways, vacations (he helped a little once we were there), plays, date nights etc. So a lot more couple time and family time than friend time. Lots of pool time. After this vacation we still have 3 more weekends away. It's great, but a lot.
It seems like because DS is into sports and DH is that we are really into sports lately, baseball, the World Cup, Wimbledon etc.
So what are you guys into lately either personally or the kids or as a family?
I'm not really into any books or TV shows at the moment. We are doing the Ramona series in the car for audiobooks with the kids. I did a few episodes of Daredevil, but the Russian plot is getting a bit boring and drawn out. I thought I might try Once Upon a Time, and liked the first episode. I was trying Anne with an E, but I think they lost me on the second season. I don't think you can play around with the classics too much. I have a short attention span and want good quality otherwise I feel like I am wasting my time, so I think it makes TV harder for me than it should. It's more like DH watches Entourage re-runs, and I space out on my phone.
This summer has been lots of swimming mostly. Even DH (who doesn’t like swimming) has spent lots of weekend days sitting poolside with me, either reading or working mysteries with me, and even some time in the water. Otherwise we have honestly not done much. Very low key.
I’m super into podcasts lately. True crime mostly. I even listen sometimes after DD is in bed when I would normally read or watch tv.
My kids are obsessed with Muppet Babies. I have to admit, I think it’s a cute show.
I’ve been binge-watching Madam Secretary. It’s really good! I’m obsessed with her glasses, and now that I need to get new glasses, I’m using Tea Leoni’s as inspiration. I’ve also watched some of Death in Paradise. It’s good, but not available for download, which is a pain for when I fly.
We’ve spent a lot of time in the pool this summer too. It’s been pretty wonderful. DD is getting more independent with swimming, and DS is happy as can be in his puddle jumper floaties.
We have been moving gradually for the last month. Closed in June and will officially relocate in about two weeks. Dragging it out and it has taken over our summer. Looking forward to sitting on our new front porch in the rain storms.
We have binged The Handmaids Tale. We are now watching a Black Mirror and Sharp Objects.
I’m trying to convince myself to strengthen my Spanish. I have lots of opportunities to practice. I just need to jump in.

We are remodeling our bathroom (a contractor is doing the work but we are doing the design) so I’ve been looking up everything for that. I love design stuff so it’s fun but also stressful as it’s a million pieces to think about.
sunbutter, I LOVE the Handmaid's Tail! Now that I've watched the season finale, I'm onto Babylon Berlin. Amazing!
I'm checking this awesome board more then I have in months :-) Kids are really into swimming, to the point where they've each worn out a bathing suit this summer and have totally cute tans. I'm trying to read some more books for work/professional development, but they're boring....
waverly, I totally understand about the friendships and play-dates being difficult to maintain over the summer. I try to keep in mind it's only a couple of months and everyone is in the same situation - travelling, kids out of school, and - for some WP's - work being extra busy. We've been trying to arrange play dates, but with friends travelling, out-of-town guests etc. it's hard. We've been unable to make friends' events etc on several occasions too.

At the beginning of the summer I had a list of things to do (mostly fun) and ive accomplished all of them already. I’ve been doing crafty stuff again for the first time in a long time, which is cool but i have to try to keep the kids out of my stuff because they want to do it too or help. The summer is a time for us to relax as a family vs running around from one activity to the next. Im kind of dreading the change that is coming with DD starting K. It was so convenient having DD and DS at daycare together. The only show im watching on tv right now is married at first sight.
I have fallen down the Outlander rabbit hole this year. It's a TV series on Starz channel but it's based on a series of books by Diana Gabaldon. I am just completely, entirely obsessed with the show, the books, the actors. It's starting to become a problem, lol. And if anyone hasn't heard of Outlander, this is definitely a show you should be watching!!! You can add the Starz channel on Amazon Prime.
Lots of playing in the pool or watching DD play in the pool while I read under the covered patio. Summer has really flown and we still have another month until school starts. We just had our first playdate of the summer Saturday. I've made no attempts to set anything up and no one else has either and DD hasn't asked. She does see some of the kids from school at Ad Club and they have all been meanies to her. Do this or I won't be your friend crap...grr
TV I've been watching Storage Wars, and 3 different home reno/design shows. We've also been watching the latest to air to the US Great British Baking Show on PBS on Sunday evenings.
We haven't done any playdates with school friends this summer. DD1 is at camp all day with a few of her friends so it feels like overkill to reach out and I don't have the energy right now.
I just started Marcella on Netflix and DH and I are watching Westworld from HBO.
welly01, is Starz free with Prime? We've been watching and wondering how we got the subscription because I never saw a bill for it.
