I searched and did not see a thread about Sante Fe. We are headed there August 16th through the 21st. I have booked the Hilton right off of the plaza. Any and all suggestions are welcome. We've never been to New Mexico at all.

My mom used to live in Albuquerque, so we always did a day trip to Santa Fe. Love it. You may want to do a day trip to Albuquerque - the train is easy and quick.
In Santa Fe: - Museum of Indian Arts & Cultures - Georgia O'Keefe Museum - Wandering around the plaza and up the hills looking at galleries - The Coyote Café has a nice rooftop bar/cantina - Palacio Café for cheap eats - Tia Sophia's for a breakfast burrito - Railyard Arts District - great food and drink - We always had a car, but it's worth finding a tour to a pueblo
My parents love Santa Fe and have rented condos there to visit for a month or two at a time. A few years ago my husband and I stayed with them for a week. Some nice sites we visited just outside Santa Fe were Bandolier National Monument, Taos Pueblo, Cochiti Pueblo, and Ghost Ranch. I’m away from my computer but if I get a chance to look at my blog later I’ll chime in again with some other recs.
Eta: Valles Caldera National Preserve is also beautiful and a scenic drive from Santa Fe. Three casual and good places to eat are Vinaigrette, Shake Foundation, and Sage Bakehouse. For a nicer meal we ate at La Plazuela Restaurant at La Fonda.
The Shed for New Mexican food. Pasqual's for fantastic fine dining.
If Meow Wolf is there, you should check that out. It was closed the week I was there for work, and I'm still pissed about it. H had also gone for work last year, and he hasn't been able to stop talking about it.
mrsukyankee, - we are spending the last day in Albuquerque where I intend for my husband to dress up like Bugs Bunny and I'll take pics of him all over Just kidding but we are spending our last day there because our flight leaves at 8:55 the next morning and I like my sleep and not dealing with traffic.

I second Meow Wolf. Very trippy and fun, and really hard to put into words (but Googling will give you an idea). Hopefully the kids will be back to school by then because it was a mad house when we went. (But I also saw that they do an adult night now will a full bar, etc. if that's your thing.)
-La Choza for authentic New Mexican -Whoo's Donuts for their blue corn & lavendar donuts -Second Street Brewing (for brews, and their burger with green chile - basically just get green chile on everything wherever you go) -Tumbleroot Brewing (good beers and apps/snacks; sometimes they have a food truck) -Tune-up (Breakfast eats in a small/casual cottage) -Plaza Cafe (Also good for breakfast) -Tent Rocks (Fun/unique hike about 45 mins outside of town)
