I need to talk about names. For my first two, we were "undecided" until after birth, but in reality we had a mostly likely choice going into it. This time there is no front runner, but a short list of things we're both ok with. One of those names happens to be the name we gave our first cat. We had her for about 4 years, loved her, but she passed when our first child was about 2 months old. Is that weird to give your kid a name you previously used for a pet? Would you do that?
Yes I would. Pets are like children to me anyway. I love the name we gave our current girl dog and would use it for a potential daughter.
Apparently, my name is the same as my great grandmother's dog's name before I was born (though I was actually named for my other great-grandmother).
Same great grandmother got another dog. My sister ended up having the same name as THAT dog. She had that dog for years so we had to refer to it as "[sister's name] Dog."
I guess my mom liked my great grandmother's choices in pet names, haha.

Not a lot going on here...G has FINALLY cut 2 of his 4 molars so hopefully we have a calm period before the next one starts in. We finally uploaded his 1 year photos from our camera and I'm continually amazed at how big G looks. We're in the middle of a spending fast this month (which we've turned into a competition between me and J) and it sucks, but it will hopefully get us back on track now that we're a 1-income family. The goal was to not dip into savings while J took his 2 years off, and that didn't happen last month, so...need to get it together. Boo money!
lol. ok. PDQ any of this. Our cat was Penny. We are considering Penelope and calling her Penny. Other choices on the short list currently are Kate and Chloe. Siblings are Ben and Eliza. Secondary question - are Ben and Penny too rhyme-y?
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!
I had my IUI this morning and have my second IUI tomorrow morning. (They do back to back if your progesterone is <2 which mine was). I am SO SO excited but nervous too!!!!
I meet with my RE on Thursday and H goes for a sperm test tomorrow. Eeeek!
I hosted my sister's bachelorette party this weekend and granted all of her friends are a size 2, but I look so gross in all the pics. I'm a little sad that at her wedding in a month I will look so bad in pictures. Between starting IVF and now I am up about 40 lbs (wow--it sucks to type that out) and now I'm getting worried that it will just spiral totally out of control with a second pregnancy. I've been very careful the past 1.5 months and I've gained 1 lb so I uh...don't know what to do. Haha This is really the first time in my life I've dealt with this and ugh it sucks.
icedcoffee, I am sorry. Be kind to yourself. Have you ever tried paleo? I dont like it for long term, but it really helps to jump start diet/weight loss.

I haven't, but I was thinking about it. I may try to do that over the next month or so and see what happens. If we do cycle next month I don't want to do any crazy diets, but I do want to be healthier in general in my second pregnancy. No more carb love affairs for me!

Ditto this. I did paleo (doctor's orders) prior to and during my IVF cycle and not only did I have the best egg quality ever, I also lost weight.
OK, so what about if I not only gave my cat that name but also made a Facebook account for her and interacted with people from that account?? lol, i'm embarrassed now.

lol......its OK. Maybe just delete the account? I doubt people remember.....
I really like your names mpc! One of them in my name I probably personally wouldn't use the name of a pet, especially with your follow up info, but if you're comfortable with it you should use it. I don't think I would give it a second thought if someone I knew did it. It's a really sweet name.
Well, it's a long weekend here. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.
Also, we just booked 3 nights camping up island on Labour Day weekend - what have we done? A is going to LOVE it. I will likely end up exhausted.
We are trying to do our first camping trip before preschool starts again. The boys would also love it but DH and I are hesitant because they slept so horribly on our vacation at the end of June. We also have a lot going on between now and then so not sure we can even make it happen.

I wouldn't mind the pet thing so much, but I do think the nickname sounds too close to your son's name. My name and my dog's name share a syllable and it's annoying as heck- I always think someone is calling for me, when really they're calling for her. I think you're setting yourself up for calling for kids throughout the house over and over and getting the wrong one, lol.
Haha, gonna do that anyway. I tend to cycle through my dogs' names before landing on my kid's name when I'm calling for him.
My grandmother would cycle through her kids, grandkids, dogs, and still not get the right name and just say "whatever your name is!"

We took her camping last summer, and the sleep thing was terrible. Although once we figured out she just had to be driven around in circles at 10pm, she slept great through the rest of the night! I think she was just so excited and it was really new and she just couldn't fall asleep. I anticipate the same this time, but at least my expectations are lower (I had been thinking that H and I could enjoy some nice grown up time by 8pm - ha!).

At least you are going into it with low expectations! We had the same problem on vacation this year...I knew it was going to be bad but not THAT bad. DH and I barely got a break, especially at nap time. C also demanded that the door be kept open (and we had to cave because him and L were sharing a room (we all actually ended up sleeping in there by mid week) so we really had no space. It was a disaster as far as sleep went (otherwise we had some really fun moments and memories).
We are in CA and there are tons of fires. My aunt said today that she thinks we won’t be able to have a campfire so I doubt we will be going until they lift that restriction...which means this year is likely out since C has soccer on Saturdays starting 9/15.

Oh yeah, our island has a campfire ban pretty much all summer, every summer. Long live the propane stove!
I hope the fires aren't too bad where you are. I read that California's wildfires are awful this year.
mpc, the full version of that name is in my top 5 favorite names. And I do not think the nickname rhymes too much at all with your son. I would, however, delete the FB account for the cat, lol. pooh8402, that is great! YAY! icedcoffee, I know how you feel. It is so hard. I am dying of heat and finally had to take off my cardigan at work and I hate being in sleeveless shirts right now :/
We took a vacation day and drove down to the coast and spent the day at the beach with S. It was exhausting (and SO HOT!) but it was really fun. A lot easier now that he walks and knows not to eat sand, lol.

We do most of our cooking on our propane stove but like the campfire for s’mores!
Thank you- same to you! We live in South OC so usually not too affected. But a fire did break out in a Canyon not too far from us yesterday (but far enough that we aren’t near danger, just tons of smoke). My cousin is a fire captain and a couple friends husbands are firefighters...it’s crazy how bad this season has been. Lots of destruction and lots of overtime for everyone. In fact, where we usually go camping was just all on fire (the city, not sure about the exact campsite or yellow posts).
I went for a run today!!! It felt so good to stretch my legs. I had registered for a big marathon in December, right after last year’s so just before I found out I was pregnant. It’ll cost me $50 or something to defer, so I’ve been toying with the idea to start running and see if I can run it. I would keep my goals modest.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
mpc, I love the name! Ditto just deleting that FB account. That would actally be pretty funny, if friends ask you about it, and you say all straight faced, I have no idea what you’re talking about. My bff is the master of straight face.
