My 8.5 year old male cat all of a sudden has loose bowels. There have been no environmental changes, no food changes (they are on Wellness), he hasn't gotten into the garbage, nada.
I have him on a 12 hour "no food" diet per my vet and then will start him back on white rice and boiled chicken and slowly work back up to the Wellness canned food. If that doesn't work, we'll have to test for parasites (they are indoor only cats, so not sure where that would have come from). He has been acting perfectly fine except for leaving presents around the house for us to find.
Has anyone experienced this and have any input? I'm worried about my sweet boy!
He's randomly pooping in the house, but his stool is really soft (almost mucus like). He is still pooping mostly in the box, but I will find anywhere from 1-3 silver dollar sized poops in the house when we wake up in the morning or come home from work.
We haven't caught him in the act yet, so I don't know if it's intentional or if he has lost control... The fact that he's still going in the box makes me think he cant' control it sometimes...
This is so gross. Thank goodness for Natures Miracle and disinfectants...

Well, that is kinda gross. Perhaps he's got some sort of intestinal distress and is starting to develop an aversion to the box? Or it's so urgent he can't make it to the box?
I'm sorry. T&Ps to your boy, I hope you and the vet can get it figured out soon so he feels better.

Aww, poor guy. Since he's leaving several smaller amounts around the house AND still uses the box, I'd think that he just can't make it to the box in time. If he didn't go in the box at all, then I'd think he had an aversion. I sure hope he feels better soon because the longer that goes on, the harder it will be for him to regain the control.
