bk1 - I'm so sorry about your grandma. I can kind of relate, because my grandma is very similar to yours. She's convinced that she's going to live in her house until she dies, and that's that. She has a medical alert necklace, but she forgets to wear it and/or forgets to use it when she needs it so it hasn't been very helpful. My aunt lives next door, which is a huge help, but there's only so much she can do when grandma forgets to mention things that happen (she fell in the kitchen once, managed to get herself up, and then forgot it had happened until later).
I hope the doctors are able to help your grandma come to terms with giving up some of her independence for the sake of her safety.

I didn’t get the job. I knew I wasn’t qualified but I needed the interview experience so I’m not upset. I have an interview tomorrow for a random job I applied for. It’s for a housekeeper job at an assisted living but if I get it, it will be a paycheck. We can survive on H’s pay alone but it would be nice to have some extra funds since we used a chunk of savings to move and I would like to have more in savings.

Good luck tomorrow! I worked as a server in the dining room of an assisted living, and it was a really unique job experience. I met some really wonderful people there.

After I thought the debacle with the electric company billing was fixed, nope, they're back to grossly overestimating it. I have enough battles to fight, I'm not sure how much energy I have for this one.
The insurance company is going to replace our roof and replace the insulation and fix our ceiling but geez it is such a long process. I know they are swamped and as far as damage goes ours is not nearly as pressing as other people but still, I hate to have this hanging over us for months on end.
I told the power company I was planning to file last summer after our 8 outages in 2 months. That got their attention. I ended up not needing to file a complaint. Also, funny story...my dad's boss is an elected county official. This summer the boss has been railing against the power company over every outage. If I had known he took an interest in this stuff, I would have called him up and got a resolution much faster!
ewall Thanks for the suggestion! BTW, did you get your water billing straightened out?
A guy came out yesterday to fix the leaking meter that they installed last month. He said once he files his report that we will see an adjustment on our bill. So we shall see. I'm more annoyed that when I called about the crazy bill increase that the rep didn't even bring up the possibility of a leak. I had to suggest it and request someone come out to inspect. Rep was trying to pin it all on us for using more water. Nope!

That's so annoying! Hopefully it gets straightened out now. At our last place our water bills were crazy high and so our landlord wanted them to check for a leak....the guy who came out tried the same thing, saying that we were using more. He said he had 4 kids and tried comparing his usage to ours (when we had one kid). Nope. Our LL laughed at him.
