I just got notified that a spot opened up for the knitting retreat I want to go to! DH is traveling, so I will touch base with him this evening to make sure we know how we're going to pay for it. I'm so excited!

Retreat update: it was great!
We got there on Thursday, and we all got swag bags at the opening dinner. A giant tote full of yarn, patterns, and look books for the season. Almost everyone was super friendly and the food was delicious.
Friday and Saturday we had 2 classes each. They had 6 teachers to choose from. I bought a book on knitting ergonomics and took 3 classes from the author. I even got him to sign my copy! I also took a class on fitting sweaters properly, that will come in handy.
Each meal (they fed us breakfast, lunch, and dinner) came with either a talk from a yarn rep/owner (the owners of Takhi Yarns, Berroco, and Cascade were there) or a fashion show. All came with finished pieces to try on and feel. At least half of the meals also came with some sort of yarn gifts at each setting. Each evening they opened up a lounge for us to sit and chat (complete with cash bar) and door prizes throughout the night.
Saturday night we all got shuttles to the WEBS store and shopped til we dropped. They have very generous volume discounts BTW
The last day we had brunch, and they brought in a graduate of the Parsons School who used a ton of donated WEBS yarn to do a fashion thesis. His work was on the runway at NY Fashion Week! He was amazing. The editor of Vogue Knitting gave us a sneak peek of fall trends and their latest magazine. I really enjoyed her talk.
I got the ultimate door prize, a giant bag of yarn to make an afghan (I do not make afghans, trying to decide if I should go with the flow or repurpose 20 balls of yarn).
I met some wonderful people and wouldn't mind going again!
ETA: Here is my haul. Everything to the left of that box was gifted or won as door prizes
That looks like it was awesome! Now I want to find some friends and go a quilt retreat!
I found a cool art one here in CO, but it’s 5 days in the middle of the week and not cheap. Maybe someday. Also made me realize I need to get more crafty friends IRL. I have 1 for sure, most of the other people I hang out with don’t do much craft stuff.
