My sister is taking our elderly parents on an international vacation. We want to look into additional healthcare coverage if something should happen while they're gone to at least get them back to the States. Does anyone have any experience with this or can point us in the right direction?
We get trip insurance to cover medical care. We look for Emergency Medical Evac and Accident and Sickness Medical Expense. I have never had to use it yet but from my understanding you have to file a claim to get reimbursed.
Yes, I always get it. I have found plans through insuremytrip and squaremouth. Since they are older, make sure to look closely at any pre-existing condition limitations.

We always get travel insurance for ourselves and for my MIL if she travels with us. I'm going to remind my parents to get it too as they are travelling overseas soon. I'm in the UK so will look at the recs here for people from the US. Definitely make sure you list pre-existing conditions and recognise that their costs will be a lot higher than your sister's due to age.
