I got it but like usual there’s nothing in the 10x list I really want. I wish the Mac offer was more than just lip products as I need another Fix+ soon. I think I’ll hold out for the Sephora sale.
I warned you all several times in the randoms thread over the last month that this was coming!!
I did the math -- if you are eligible for 20% off at Sephora, and 5X-10X at Ulta, it's better to buy from Ulta. Here goes:
20% off of $100 = you save $20
If you buy $100 at Ulta, you'll get a min of 500 points. If you bank points to get to 2000, then 500 points is worth 25% of $125, or $31.25. If you are buying a lot of 10X items or use a 20% coupon when you cash in your 2000 points, then the savings is even better.
So you'll spend more today, but in the long run, save money.
i got the email, but what i need is 20% to spend the points i have, not more points! especially with knowing 20% is coming from sephora at the end of the week, and having 2000 points to spend, it's a silly time to buy things at full price for me.
ETA: LOL, i opened this awhile ago but just replied now, hadn't seen ESF's calculations right before me! the reasoning does make sense that it's more now but less later, but i'm still gonna wait i think.
The 10X points is great for me. I need a new Gimme Brow and B&B blow dry cream. I'm also going to grab a mini Lancome Monsieur Big and some Soap & Glory bath stuff.
Gonna get refills of Becca primer, CoverFx drops, and H's Jack Black body wash at 5x.
I had an enormous eBates check last month that I turned into an Ulta card, so I can really stock up. I've got $200 in my cart, I have an $80 ebates card, and I'll finish the day off with over 2000 points. So basically, I'm spending $120 and will get $125.

Eh, the only thing on the 10X point list that I needed/wanted was SheaMoisture. I did get the Too Faced BTW concealer I've been putting off as well and a couple of NYX liners.
If I bought a foundation today and need to exchange for a different color will I retain my 10x points?
I really could use a lightweight translucent setting powder - can anyone recommend one from Ulta? I like the Laura Mercier one and want to try the Hourglass Veil but if I can get something at Ulta for 10x points then I’d rather do that.

Yes, if you do an even exchange, you should be able to retain your points.

"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
Shit, now that I know about this I’m just going to hold off on splurging until this day rolls around. $200 for 2000 points is pretty sweet. I’m also almost to Platinum again too.

i'm probably too late, but i like the cover fx powder.

It's not clear what you mean by "until this day rolls around" -- you do realize platinum day is today, right? I think it goes to midnight central, so you still have time. Most things are 5x not 10x.
I was very lucky that a lot of stuff I use regularly was 10x.
I have 2 buxom va va voom liquid lipsticks (10x), 2 living proof dry shampoos (5x), Lancôme foundation (10x), and a NARS wanted powerpack lipkit (10 x). Now I just need to hit “place order” lol

I got some Clarins stuff and a sheet mask and used 2000 of my points off of 131 bucks. I have a 5x multiplier for Clarins right now so I only spent 6 bucks and actually got 565 points back since there's a glitch that will let you earn points on brand specific multipliers when you use points.
I showed decent restraint. A few MUR products including peach lights highlighter and the SophX palette, a WnW highlighter, an Essence highlighter (that I accidentally ordered twice, oops) and the essence brow brush and Morphe flat eyeliner brush.
Only "high end" was Anastasia dipbrow and Smashbox HD eyeprimer

I wanted the Lancome Skin Feels Good foundation but my shade is one that's been OOS all day. Boo.

Yes, I meant for 2019! I stocked up yesterday on my basics. I’ve dramatically scaled back my makeup budget in 2018 so planning for Platinum Day will help me maximize what I am spending.
People who are like, "I don't neeeeeeed anything," need to TRY HARDER. You think I need 3 new MAC lipsticks that are barely different shades of pink from the other 18 I have in my collection? No, I do NOT!
That said, it seemed like there weren't a lot of shadows in this promo. However, now I have $250 in points so I'll REALLY be stocking up the next time a good 20% off coupon rolls around.

I vowed not to buy any new lipsticks until I worked through my 'wear everything in this bag at least once and then decide if you're keeping it' goal that came from reorganizing my makeup and finding a bunch of stuff I forgot I owned and can't remember if I like.
What I did want was a couple of MAC shadows, but of course those weren't included.
