September Lip Challenge!!

Looks like we had some interest in the randoms thread to start up a Lip Challenge in September!  

Guidelines:
Wear a new lip product every day for the month!  This can include lipstick, tinted (or un-tinted even!) lip balms, lip glosses, etc, etc, etc.


and really, that's it!  I know it's a 'national' board with people from all over and also completely open to the public/guests/randos/etc so you don't need to post a picture but a post that outlines what product you wore and some quick feedback would be nice - did you like the formula, color, etc?  Did you use to love it and now hate it?  Did you pick it up as a sample/promo/freebie and were totally impressed, or letdown?  Anything you have to add about wear time/performance, etc would be great to read as well!

if anyone does want to post a pic i highly recommend the app Pic Stitch, it lets you make a collage of different pictures together.  i usually use a pic of the product, the end cap with the brand and name of the color and then a swatch, either on my arm or on my lips.  

also, if you miss a day, no big deal, this is a fun way for us to sort through our collections, ditch things that might not work, fall in love with new products and perhaps rediscover an old favorite.

Posting now so that people (AKA, me) have time to sort through their collection and start organizing if need be....

yesssss! I need to come up with a system - I've been trying to wear stuff I hadn't touched in a while for the last few weeks, but I don't have any rhyme or reason to it. I need a "to be worn" container, and then maybe two "already worn" bins - one for keepers and one to toss/give away.

I wasn't sure I had enough for this challenge, so I counted last night. 68 including minis, but not including any samples I have hiding somewhere. How did this happen??

It's the curse of the makeup board. When I first started posting on here, I had 6 lipglosses and 2 lipsticks. No liners or primers. Now...well. I'm afraid to count.

I should probably be in too. I typically have 12 different lipsticks in my purse at any given time, but I have SO, SO many more than that. Like I don't even want to count.

So in. Will arrange my colours. I start school next week so will wear some tame colours and save the bold for the weekend haha.

as a teacher or student?  Unless you teach kids*, I vote go bold right off the bat so you can just be "the woman with the awesome purple lipstick" from the very first day.  Rather than going bold three weeks from now and people are like, "wow, that's a crazy color"  because they got used to your face with a natural lip.

If they meet you with a crazy color then the expectation is set as your "normal" and you're free to do whatever you want from there on out.  

*and only if the school where you teach has expectations about dress code.  I know some wouldn't bat an eye at a bright lip, but I don't know your story.

As a student. I’m doing my MBA but in another country so until I feel settled with school, I think I’ll wait. It’s hard enough navigating the expat life and trying to make new friends as an introvert. 😭😭😭

i'm so excited that so many people are interested!!! yay!!

i need to sit and organize my collection - i am a teacher, so i don't do crazy/super deep colors during the week but do have several happy hour evenings coming up where i will throw a brighter/bolder color on for after school. i'm in an elementary school, so more neutral during the day is not the rule, but definitely an informal expectation.

I inventoried my lip products. Not counting the handful in my desk at work, I have 79. 30 of assorted non-standard formulas, 49 typical lipstick in a bullet shape or big fat crayons

I pulled out 30 of them. Tried for an assortment of colors and finishes and a mix of "I don't know if I like this" , "I used to love this but haven't used in forever" and "I bought this and have never touched it" with a few easy beloveds thrown in so I don't lose hope and will to live.

i'm scared to inventory.  the sample situation has gotten out of control at my place.  but i'm going out of town this weekend so won't have time to do it before.  will take three trusty colors with me to use while i'm away and deal with the giant mess when i get back.  

who am i kidding, i will definitely be taking more than three with me, lol. i have at least three in my purse at any given time, usually more like 6 or 7.

Yeah, step one was clearing out my work bag...
I'm actually feeling better about my collection after the inventory. With a few specific examples I don't have a ton of redundancy. And the places where I do have redundancy I've put them in the box for Sept to see who comes out on top. Like...I wear a matte red once in a blue moon. I own 3. That's excessive. I wear berries constantly though, so having one or two in every format seems reasonable there.

I should probably join you in this. I was looking for headshot lipstick yesterday and realizing how much clutter is in my stash. In particular, I've got tons of those old Bite duos, and most I never wear. I really need to sort through those.

I did my biannual purge and ended up keeping 157. 40 went to work for my coworkers. Who all love me, lolol.

I've got 8 of those. Three I wear often, two I wear occasionally and the rest I've never touched. Addiction.
