I am having professional photos for work taken next week, and I am getting my hair cut and colored on Sunday.
My hair is very long and medium thickness without a ton of body. I have a round face. I like low maintenance cuts. I prefer keeping my hair on the longer side because I think it makes my face look thinner, but it's so long that I can chop quite a bit off and still have it be below my shoulders, so I have a lot to work with.
Any ideas of cute haircuts I should look for? Are bangs in these days?
And any tips on makeup for professional work photos? I know there are a million articles floating around, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm leaning towards keeping clothing simple -- white shirt, gray suit, and minimal accessories, then doing a very simple neutral eye with a bolder lip - something rich but not bright, like a berry or brick red.

Layers are the easiest and low maintenance. I have bangs but I don’t pay attention to whether they’re in style or not, I like what they do to my face. Bangs are not low maintenance. I can only go six weeks before they’re driving me cray, cray. Your hair color is so pretty on you. A mix of low lights and highlights are always fun. I’m not a whole lot of help probably. My last professional headshot I went a bit heavier than normal application for makeup and it paid off. The only thing I’m not happy with in my headshot is my necklace. I couldn’t figure out what piece to wear and really I should have just skipped a necklace all together.
ETA: I did a berry lip and neutral eye. I highlighted my cheek bones but that was it. Hell, it’s peivabky on FB. Lemme go look. Much easier than trying to explain
This is my hair. My stylist (who is my neighbor) wants to chop my hair desperately lol. She thinks I’ll look best with a lob. After seeing my recent work ID picture I think I’m inclined to believe her. I think the prevailing wisdom is round face, angles in the hair. I would avoid a blunt bang - nothing above the cheekbones. For color I have a tortoiseshell balayage going on. It’s my failsafe since I don’t have to worry about roots.
For pictures I would do a neutral eye and MLBB lip color. Portrait lighting can often be harsh - so much depends on the photographer - and I prefer to play it safe.
I agree with your plan for a bolder lip. Whatever jives with your coloring so it doesn't look harsh.I sometimes think a berry looks more "normal" on me than anything for reasons I don't understand.
My old headshot I did go too hard on the blush. I was doing my makeup under office bathroom lighting and then the shot was in natural light and it was no bueno.
Current one is better but he softened the focus so much my eyebrows nearly disappeared.

This is a good point, but I should also mention that style we will be using is not super close up and it’s more of a waist up photo, not a true headshot. I wear glasses with black frames, so I feel like I need some lip color to balance my face.

This is my fear. We will be indoors so hopefully it will be easier to manage.

I think as long as you get a chance to check your makeup under reasonably similar light conditions you'll be fine. I did mine in the work bathroom. Don't do that.
