My BFF and I are going back to school shopping for ourselves today. She just got a new job in a school so she needs a new wardrobe. I think I will also go to Whole Foods and Trader Joes.
The weather here is supposed to be rainy, so we will be trying to figure out indoor activities. I would love it if the kids would let me play a rousing game of “Let’s clean out your drawers to get rid of too-small clothes!” But I’m guessing that’s an early no go.
Also I woke up with a sore throat and DS was terribly congested yesterday, so a quiet rest day may be on the menu.

We just pulled in the drive from the labor day camping trip with our group. All 4 of us had so much fun and I'm glad we were able to camp all weekend. We rarely get to enjoy the entire weekend.
Now its time for post-camping work of laundry and 92 trips from the camper to the house.

Dh is flying home today from BIL’s house so we will pick him up at the airport and then go out for dinner. My ILs bought a one way ticket so they are staying to help indefinitely. My SIL isn’t getting any better so we are all still just praying for a miracle. DH was able to see her yesterday at the hospital and said she looks really bad and is out of it. I think the boys and I are having a quiet home day. I need to do laundry and some work and get ready for the week.
DD, the dog, and I went up to my sister's new house today to meal prep for her. She isn't much of a cook and it's her first September as a teacher. We made: waffles, pancakes, beef tacos, slopy joes, chili, double batch of beef stew, homemade spaghetti sauce, stuff peppers, and rice Krispy treats. Everything is portioned out, labelled, and into the freezer and she has what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner for the whole month. 4 hours of cooking and 2 hours combined prep time (list, writing it out, phone calls, directions, etc.). I got no thank you no nothing and am a little annoyed. She has everyone helping her with her house but not getting herself dirty. Stupid baby sister, grrr! Oh DD and the dog behaved and helped out nicely. 😎
186momx - Not that I hold a grudge, but I hand-knitted a baby blanket for DH’s niece for her new baby 13 years ago, gave it to her in person, and never got so much as a verbal “thank you.” And as a result, she got nothing for Bsby #2 or her eventual wedding. I wouldn’t bend over backwards for your sister again. She will learn how to cook (and plan) if she gets hungry enough. I have no use for people who lack the gratitude gene.

To me, you did the kindest thing ever...and no thank you? I am so sorry that your effort was not appreciated.
186momx, How old is your sister. I am hoping early 20s at the latest. Not an excuse, but maybe she just didn't realize the time and effort that something like that would take, or how much work a house is. In my experience early to mid 20s (unless they have kids) people still don't get it yet. However, if they haven't gotten it by 30 then they are never going to get it.
I would also be the petty sister who wouldn't do it again until she learned some gratitude, and I would be passive aggressive about so probably not the healthiest reaction.
It was a quiet day at home. We had been at our friend's cabin and lake for 3 days, so we needed some home time. Sleep in, run, meal prep, etc.. Plus, I had to comb out DD's hair again with my new $10 nit comb that just came in. And now DS somehow managed to get into a bunch of turkey mites deer hunting, so he is covered in bites. Soaked him twice, plus applied the lice shampoo to the bites, which I just so happened to have in abundance. Nature is trying to take us down. .
xctsclrx, she is 25. She has either lived at home and mom cooked everything, rented a room in a house so limited space/kitchen usage, or done the apartment/dorm deal. Her normal diet consists of pizza, taquitos, and chicken nuggets and then coming home each weekend to binge eat whatever mom cooks. I was trying to help her realize that isn't a smart way to live but I'm so not doing it again even though she totally is anticipating it and has been bragging to the other teachers about me meal prepping for her. I think it also doesn't help that she is the baby and my brother and I are 8-10 years older than her.
