Anyone want to kickstart the board with me a bit? I was hoping to with the check in but got super busy at work. I stink!!
Anyway trying again. My random: Boys and I went with friends to the beach today and it was one we had never been to before and OMG the clam shells are gigantic there. They even found 2 whole ones with clams still in them but we made them throw those back in.
My random: DH has an...unidentifiable man-virus/fever, so he's basically been in bed all day. We're all off today, so this morning I played Mario Kart with DS for 2 hours straight in an effort to keep him occupied/quiet. He basically occupied himself the rest of the day watching YouTube videos and playing random games while I went back and forth between trying to keep him happy and tending to DH.
Tomorrow is the first day of school, and DS starts senior kindergarten! OMG I'm so excited to go back to work after having been off with DS all week staying at my parents'. O-M-G, I'm literally counting the hours.
Dinner is finished, and I'm currently enjoying glass of wine #2 (about to pour #3) before I get the bedtime routine started!
We converted DS2’s crib into a toddler bed this weekend. He was super cute about it (Mama, why you breakin my bed?) but he has such a difficult time falling asleep now. We waited as long as we could (he turned two in June) but he started trying to climb in this weekend. No one is getting enough sleep!

Drew can ride a two wheeler!!! This summer he went from afraid to put his head under to swimming laps and moved to a 20” bike with no training wheels. All of a sudden he’s so grown up. Tomorrow he starts K and I’m so excited!!!
penguingrrl, go Drew!!! My younger was almost 8 when he finally brave the 2 wheeler. We went camping and he saw a little 6yo zooming around on her bike and when we got home he just took off on his 2 wheeler. lol.

Thanks!!! The girls were older when they learned, but he wanted to keep Up with them lol!

But seriously though, I need help, ladies! We can’t decide which is better- laying beside his bed to keep him there or just dragging him back to his room every time he gets out. What do you think?

Um, my 5-year-old is asleep in my bed right now, so I may not be the right person to give advice. ;-) That being said, my general sleep philosophy has been do what you need to to get everyone asleep, and nothing lasts forever. I really dislike thinking my kids are going to sleep sad or stressed, so I laid with them when they needed it, and both kids transitioned to falling asleep on their own just fine (ignore the munchkin asleep in my bed - his sister’s reading light was bothering him).

We live in a 3 BR, 1 bath, 1300 SF house...there are currently six people living here. My BIL and his GF are staying with us for the month. I’m losing my damn mind and coping by organizing all the things.
Here's my gross random. DH seems to have gotten swimmers' itch this weekend. Which is really weird, b/c we've never had it before from our lake, and it's not the usual conditions...but he was wading out in a bay where ducks hang out. It's either that or really bad gnat bites?? Anyway, he has very red, big, itchy bumps all over his lower legs! Ick.
The kids found out their teachers today. I'm really happy with DD1's teacher and the kids in her class. Not thrilled with DS's. He is a very smart boy who needs to be pushed or he will happily just do something he enjoys more than his assignments, and he got a teacher known for going really easy on kids. DD2 got a kindergarten teacher I know nothing about. She was new last year. I really, really hope DD2 likes her!
Tomorrow we have the preschool parent meeting, and back-to-school pictures/forms/meet the teacher night for the big kids.

We still sit in Drew’s room to get him to sleep. In the past few months he asked us to stop laying down on his bed with him, but still be in the room. I’m sure by college he won’t want us there anymore lol!
Honestly, the girls stopped needing that earlier, but they share a room so they have each other. He’s the only one in the house who sleeps alone and it scares him. He keeps asking me to have a 4th baby so he can share a room (lol forever).

Umm a month?! You are a saint! I don’t think I could live with my in laws for a month.

Yeah, this is what we do with dd. It’s just that he has a toddler bed so that means I have been laying on the laminate floor next to him. I told Dh that we might need to make a trip to Ikea this weekend because a twin bed would solve our back problems this week. Maybe we will at least get a twin mattress this weekend.
I love that Drew came up with his own solution but yeah, no. Haha
lexus, DS went from his crib straight into a full-size bed (at 2), because I knew he'd need me to lay with him to go back to sleep for a while so I figured I'd make my life easier with a bigger bed. (Up until that point he'd had a futon in his room and I would lay with him on that for a bit until he fell back to sleep when he woke up calling for me in the night.). I know plenty of people sleep train, lock the door to their kid's room, let them cry it out, etc., but I was never down with that idea - I knew he wouldn't need me forever, so I just went with it.
It got a bit better after 4, and then again at 5, to the point where now I still lay with him for five minutes before I leave to putz around in the kitchen or whatnot while he falls asleep. Sometimes he calls for me and I need to go back for a few minutes or so, but he's now able to fall asleep without me laying next to him.
He went through a phase of climbing into our bed in the middle of the night, which we were ok with once we got a king bed, but that only lasted 6 months or so and then he basically stopped doing it. So now we have a king bed where we just had a queen before (bonus!)
All that to say, he won't do this forever, but yeah, in the meantime if you can do something to make it easier on you I totally would. A twin bed sounds like a good idea to me; he'll need a bigger bed eventually anyway, so why not get it sooner than later?

Not so much a saint as ill-informed. I was told it would be like a week. I had already said yes when I learned how long it would actually be. Thankfully, I leave in a week to meet up with my mom in Croatia...so I only have to deal for a little while longer.

I’ll play.
We have a rental and my tenant hasn’t paid yet this month. She also won’t answer my phone calls. I’m going to have to start the eviction process on Monday if she won’t talk to me and I’m pissed I even have to bother. Effing big expense. Dh and I are seriously considering selling it bc she’s a pita and it would help us move to a bigger house.

Yikes! That sucks! What an awful position to be in. Hopefully tomorrow she has an explanation (and the rent) so you can avoid it).

Reviving this, for a random:
DS and I are sitting at the table eating dinner. There's a fly buzzing around irritating us, so I said loudly, "hey fly, get out of here - no one invited you! Why don't you go outside and eat a bug or something?" Then I said to DS, "I guess flies don't really eat bugs. Or do they? What do flies eat anyway?" (trying to start a semi-intelligent conversation)
His response: ::shrug:: "I don't know, why don't you google it?"
My random: I can't stop binge watching old dance moms vids on YouTube. I love watching the group dances. The kids are soooooo talented but the mama drama is absurd. Pretty recklace, winters war and well oiled machine are today's favorites. haha
