I've been slowing chipping away at "The Start of You and Me", it's really good, just not enough time to read. For some weird reason it reminds me of The Duff (book, not movie) but there's not a big correlation so I don't know why.
QOTW: I don't mind pumpkin but I think everything's pushed up too early. By the time I'm ready for pumpkin in Oct. it's onto winter and christmas flavors.
Definitely not stepping on toes! I just was at back to back appointments this morning and haven't had a chance to come on here until now
Read: The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker 4.5 stars/contemporary romance Probably my favorite romance book this year (close second is Ghosted by J.M. Darhower). So I really liked this!
An Earl Like You by Caroline Linden 3.5 stars/historical romance Really good build up to a moment you anxiously await for the heroine to discover something awful the hero did, only for her to forgive him in like 2 seconds and then the book ends. Talk about a let down.
The Night Masquerade (#3 in the Binti series) by Nnedi Okorafor 2 stars/sci-fi fantasy Disappointment city!!! I really liked the first two books, but this one was just nonsense!
Total so far for the year: 101
Currently Reading: Grave Peril (#3 in The Dresden Files series) by Jim Butcher - PNR/UF; I started this once a long time ago, giving it another try via audiobook and I'm already happy with that decision!
Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett - fantasy; About a quarter of the way into it and I like it but not sure how much yet.
QOTW: I strongly dislike anything to do with pumpkin flavored things, including pumpkins. But I also don't like coffee or tea, so I'm not exactly the best judge of what should/should not taste good LOL!
I'm still reading The Drawing of the Three. I've been hooked on a new to me Netflix show so that has been taking up a lot of my time this week.
QOTW: I love pumpkin baked goods and the scent of pumpkin. I do not like drinking pumpkin like PSL and such.
We just got Netflix for the very first time a couple of weeks ago (yes, we were living in the dark ages) so what show is it? I definitely haven't seen any of them and I need recommendations!

I read Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate for book club this week. I am partway through Amity and Prosperity - One Family and the Fracturing of America by Eliza Griswold. It's about a family and fracking in southwestern Pennsylvania, nonfiction, though it's reminding me a bit of the fiction book Heat and Light by Jennifer Haigh.
QOTW: I'm not a coffee drinker/candle person, so am not too huge into pumpkin spice. I pretty much only like pumpkin baked goods if there are chocolate chips involved.
I'm basically just going to copy my status from last time: I've made absolutely zero progress on the graphic novel The Sandman, Vol. 2: The Doll's House, and I'm just over of halfway through A Gentleman in Moscow.
QOTW: I'm not really a big pumpkin spice drink fan, but I think it smells OK, and I like pumpkin baked goods. September is too early though; needs to be at least October.

This week I read:
Heres to Us by Elin Hilderbrand 3.5/5 stars I love Hilderbrands books and writing
Currently Reading:
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society The Perfect Couple (Hilderbrand) one of the amazon first reads for Sept (forget the name off top of my head!)
QOTD: I like pumpkin pie and an occasional P.S coffee, but not really a huge fan, def. dont do pumpkin everything!
I’m reading Late Bloomers Club and it’s a good escape. I’m also listening to The Kiss Quotient and enjoying it, but definitely can’t listen to it at work! I’m also trying to finish Call Me American, a memoir, for my IRL book club and I just can’t. Not a badly written story, very well done, but the subject matter is too hard, I’m not up for such a sad and upsetting book right now (Somalia refugee talking about the war as a child, so far).
QOTW: I’m not big into the pumpkin spice trend. I love pumpkin pie and the smell, but I stick to the pie, but don’t really eat that until Thanksgiving. Too early in early Sept!
Finished: All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover. Yeah don’t send me a fan club invite anytime soon. The book was basically a recipe for what happens when a married couple stops talking to each other.
Her Cherry by Penelope Bloom. I really enjoyed the partner book to this His Banana, but this one didn’t do it for me. It was still decent. Really I’m just trying to use my prime day KU deal as much as I can.
Currently reading: Excise by Danielle Girard. It’s taking me a bit to get into. Slow start.
QOTW: pumpkin spice upsets my stomach so I stopped drinking them a couple years ago.
I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer, 3*. I looked it but found the ending a little too Hallmark for my taste.
I am reading China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan.
QOTW: I love Fall! I wouldn't say that I'm a huge pumpkin spice fan though. I like the smell and I like a pumpkin cookie now and then, but I don't go crazy for pumpkin.
I just finished Before the Fall (really enjoyed it, but I think I have read too many thrillers lately so I was waiting for some additional twist or something) and I have three books I'm trying to decide between starting now.
I looooove fall and I love pumpkins, but pumpkin spice everything as a trend annoys me. I don't drink coffee, so PSLs are not for me (I've tried them and they smell delicious but don't taste so delicious).
Random book related news: DS1 (three-year-old preschool) got his first Scholastic books yesterday and it was a HAPPY DAY for me! I went crazy and got him 10 books (only $29 for all that!).

I'm reading Salem Witch Judge by Eva LaPlante, but I'm going to have to put it aside for a while because my library hold for a Sarah Pekkanen book just came in.
QOTW: I love just about anything pumpkin but I've lost my taste for PSL because it tastes artificial.
I’m finishing up Tailspin right now. It’s been a fun read!
QOTW: I like pumpkin pie and other baked goods on occasion but otherwise don’t go out of my way for it. I do love the promise of fall! Hurry up cooler weather. I’m tired of sweating.
I'm still reading Warcross with some The World as it is and Killers of the Flower Moon on the side. The kind of thing where I'm reading a bit of each book in a cycle so I'm not actually making real progress on any one of them.
QOTW: I do like pumpkin and pumpkin spice, but it has become so overdone that I feel super basic admitting that lol. And I can have one PSL and then be fine foregoing it for the next year.
I finished The Red Garden by Alice Hoffman, 3* - it was fine, but not awesome. I am still reading The Girl Who Drank the Moon, I am enjoying it, but not getting very far. Next up is Death Class by Erika Hayasaki for an IRL book club
QOTW: I like pumpkin bread or cake, I use pumpkin in oatmeal. I am not a fan of PSL - it is WAY too sweet for me. I also don't really like pumpkin pie.

I stayed up late Saturday night to finish Ham Bones, and I finished a few Kindle Freebies this week as well. Ham Bones was good, though I accidentally spoiled it for myself. The Kindle Freebies were worth what I paid for them. They are part of a 60-book series I collected when they were offered free (instead of $2.99) and I got interested in the overarching storyline.
QOTW: It's not fall here; it's spring so the Pumpkin Spice everything makes no sense. And August is way too early to bring out the Pumpkin Spice, even in the US. I am on a one-woman campaign #NoPumpkinSpiceinSummer!
Random book related news: DS1 (three-year-old preschool) got his first Scholastic books yesterday and it was a HAPPY DAY for me! I went crazy and got him 10 books (only $29 for all that!).
I got the order forms this week for dd1 too!! I’m ordering all the things!! 😆😆
