IVDD?

Anyone have experience with IVDD? We adopted a rescue dog three weeks ago and he was diagnosed after an emergency vet visit on Labor Day. His case is relatively mild (managing with meds and crate rest for now) but we’re still extremely overwhelmed and anxious about the prognosis. Would love to hear others’ experiences, good or bad.

Thanks, compassrose! For now at least, things are looking good — he’s done with crate rest and doing great getting back to activity. We’re being cautious but letting him be a dog, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for no reoccurrences. Wait and see, I guess.

That's excellent! The most important things are to set up gates to prevent going down any stairs and getting (and training him to use) ramps to get on/off furniture.
