Trying to determine how many IUI cycles to do this time before moving on to IVF (IVF is out of pocket, insurance covers most of IUI). With my DD, we got a CP on IUI#1 and got PG with my DD on IUI #2. Since then, my AMH has dropped from 4.5 to 1.07, so I am wondering if we should move to IVF after 2 rounds of IUI.
So if you got PG from IUI....how many cycles did it take of IUI? You can vote multiple times for multiple pregnancies.
My 4th IUI was ultimately successful, but 2 of the earlier ones had resulted in BFPs that I miscarried. (Also had 4 TI cycles that were all BFN). As difficult as the miscarriages were, they gave us hope that something was working and actually getting me pregnant. I don't know how our decision making would've looked without that.
Good luck figuring out what to do. I know it's not easy!

mpc, thanks, liking for the success not MC. yea I think after 2 cycles, I need to move on....we are also running out of insurance benefits at the end of the year
my second was successful but ended in a second tri loss. From there we did 6 more before moving on to IVF. During that time period they tested my AMH (which was not standard protocol when I first did the IUI) and it turns out my AMH was extremely low. So we moved to IVF right away.
Do you need to make a decision right now? Can you see how you respond to meds? I will see if I can find my AMH numbers but I think they were way lower than yours.
I did three, got pregnant, but miscarried at 10w. I mention it because it felt like a placental abruption when it happened, which is what happened with B too. Because genetics were good with that baby, it’s always felt like I’m a success, given my diagnosis.
Anyway, that’s all to say that it seems like 3 is the magic number many doctors recommend. I don’t think an AMH of 1 is problematic, but mine was 0.24, so 🤷♀️
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

I voted 4, but that one was actually an attempt at IVF that we converted to IUI due to poor response. The other three were just with Clomid. My AMH was 0.63.

Thanks all. We do use injections for all my IUIs, menopur. I respond well (slow, require low of menopur, 6 vials last time). I know when I met with my RE to starts trying for #2, she recommended ivf bc of my numbers but was ok doing iui first bc of insurance coverage.

I’m doing same protocol as last time. We use letrazale pills and then 6 vials of menopur.
I’ve done 3 IUIs and have gotten a bfp every time (one miscarriage). 2 were unmedicated because I was still nursing (I did do an hcg trigger), so I really don’t understand why I can’t get pregnant without it. My dr says it’s just “luck.” I plan on trying again soonish (when my period comes back due to nursing), and my dr has said don’t count on it working quickly again.
We did 5 (none of which were successful) but only 3 with our RE. I was told 3 is the magic number on a given medication regimen. So we did 2 with my OB, using clomid+ovidrel, then 3 with metformin+ovidrel+clomid (in increasing doses). Given our MFI and I was responding well to the medications, it was decided to move on with IVF rather than continue IUIs.
I cared for a patient who finally conceived after 25 IUIs! Each was with donor sperm as she did not have a partner but wanted to be a mom.
IUI didn't work for me but I will chime in that we did 2/3 IUIs (2 unsuccessful, 1 cancelled) before moving on to IVF. Since we are unexplained IF, my RE and I didn't really feel like IUIs were providing us with any definite advantage over TTC naturally. My RE was actually supportive of trying IVF with no IUIs if we wanted to, but we thought we'd give a few a shot first.

I was successful on two of two IUIs. My RE said it was luck, and just prior to our second said lightening wouldn't strike twice. Well it did, and the odds of it working was 3-5% resulting in multiples, and here I am carrying a twin pregnancy. So...you never know! For whatever reason my body requires letrozole and a trigger.

Cycle 5 for Kid1 - 3 clomid (1 CP, cycle 1), 2 follistim Cycle 1 for Kid2 - right to follistim. Was a twin pregnancy and lost one between 8 & 15w. Currently 5.5w with #3 conceived without ART.

DS1 took 5 IUIs. The first four were with oral meds, the fifth successful one was with injectable meds. With DS2 I did one round of clomid, then moved right to injectables for the second IUI, which was successful.
Interesting about all the injectable successes. My successful cycle was also my first on injectables (gonal f) after many cycles with clomid and femara. My RE described it as a more “elegant” stimulation, whatever that means.

It was my third cycle, all injectable meds. My RE said we would do three and then reassess whether IUIs were the right path. I did respond to all of the stims and have PCOS, so I am not sure whether we would have moved to IVF or changed the protocol for another 3.

Thanks all! Definitely interesting about the injectibles. I use menopur every iui. We are doing our second iui this month and then will move on to ivf next

It was my first/only cycle, using Gonal F and an HCG trigger. It was a heterotopic pregnancy - one was ectopic and the other a normal uterine pregnancy (which turned out to be DD). So clearly my ovaries responded robustly to that regimen. I had zero hope of it working, it was just required to have 2 IUI attempts by my insurance to cover IVF. Guess you never know!
We were successful with IUI #3 with my oldest. We had MFI with low count and motility. We would have done more IUI cycles because an RE at the time was not feasible because of distance, so we did treatment with my OB.
