I have 5 non English speaking students in one of my classes. I am trying to pull out whatever Spanish I can retain. I have asked the school what can be done to help me out, since these kids are obviously not getting anything out of class, and I get, "well it's a big problem in all the classes". Plus they are disruptive, but that may be due to the one that can speak some English interpreting for the others.
DD has won all of her games so far except for 1. Tonight is 8th grade night. I almost had a panic attack getting ready this morning due to all that had to be done. Get through my day of classes and work, put together goody bags for the team, get the gift for the 8th graders and balloons, DD wants her hair French braided because we walk her out to the court while they announce her name. Ugh. Plus on of the particularly non helpful parents criticized the gift. I had a team picture made and bought a frames with white mattes so the team can sign the frame. She was like, why didn't you get something useful like a volleyball to sign. Well, why don't you take over because I will gladly hand over the job. And a signed volleyball only sits on a shelf, like a picture.

I got over the flu from last week, but honestly I feel so congested and have been for so long that it’s like my brain is squished and I can’t think. Also I’m still exhausted and not sleeping well.
Does anyone else get in a cycle where they’re so tired they fall asleep insanely early (like 8:00), then wake up around midnight and can’t fall back to sleep until about ten minutes before they need to get up? I need to break the cycle but I’m so damn tired I can’t stop falling asleep right after I put the kids in bed.

I'm not eligible for the temporary assignment after all. A clarification email came out today stating that it's only for non-union employees, which is pretty much only management here.
DH has not been very supportive of my potential job changes. He likes me having weekdays off. There are benefits to having weekdays off, but the majority of the OT at work is on the weekends, so I get hit hard because of my schedule. And as DS gets older and into activities, I want to be able to attend functions on Saturdays or in the evenings and not have to worry about my work schedule.
mommyatty, yep, I get like that during tax season. Last year I relied on a mix of melatonin or Tylenol PM. I did one for a couple nights and then switched to the other so I didn't get too dependent on either one. I got back to my normal sleep cycle once busy season was over and I had a few days away from the office and computers meaning my brain got some rest.
Had to run my dad back home today at 10:30. My mom fell and possible broke her foot. She was using an old wooden bathroom step stool to get something out of her closet and it broke and she went crashing down. Dad took her to the Dr, no major break but waiting for the actual radiologist to review the x-rays. So my whole day has been really messed up.
DD talked to her teacher yesterday at recess about getting frustrated at school and they seemed to have worked something out. She also started asking the coaches at gym how to fix it when they tell her something. Coach S looked funny when she had to try to explain to DD how to get her chest up on a pike jump and seemed to be taken aback by getting asked how to do that instead of just ok. She got 4 stickers last night at gym and lots of good DD. DD was just a happier kid all around yesterday.

DDOT: Has anyone been to Little Caesar's lately? The one in my town closed about a year ago and DH wanted pizza for dinner. I ordered online from the next town over and was impressed with their new system. I was emailed a QR code, walked in, scanned my code and a door to the warmer popped open. So quick and easy. Genius!

It’s in our regular rotation of take out. I’m embarrassed to admit how often we get it.

Oh yes, this happens to me too! I try to go for a walk or grocery shop to stay awake.
My TWERKS - DS has sorted out his reading level thing with his teacher, mostly. He is probably still a bit below his actual reading level, but at least he's not back at level A.
I just looked at our calendars and felt sad - I leave for overseas work trip next Tuesday, and due to our work travel schedules, DH and I won't see each other until September 29, which just seems ridiculous.
erinshelley21, I'm sorry. It can be super awful, although it isn't usually too bad in adults. DD got it when were on vacation with extended family. But thankfully she didn't have too many in her mouth, and other than not eating a ton was fine, if crabby.
Holy food poisoning. I got food poisoning form the preschool pot luck, and spent yesterday puking my guts out. Now back at work, only kind of queasy to try and catch up on everything due today.
mommyatty , I get like that too. I cannot lie down, with the dim lights before 9 pm or I will be out. If I go to sleep before 9:30, I will be up at 2 am for the day. I try to stay upright on the couch until then if I am watching tv.
Lice update: My nurse/hairdresser friend declared DD clean last night. Yay. I did the Rid 2x. The Licefree reviews said that people were free after 1 treatments so I did 4. I did the terminator combs every couple of days. I did the daily shampoo. Tea tree oil in the conditioner. Bags of blankets and pillows just came back out. The assholes better be gone or I'm just going to burn the place down.
I just placed a Little Ceasers order. I saw the warmer and scanner last time I was there. I didn’t get a QR code, just a receipt. I’m bummed! But also, probably good because DH might not know how to use a QR code.

2chatter, I think most people could figure it out, but there was also a 3 digit code you could type in instead. They send you an email when the pizza is ready and the QR code is right there.

erinshelley21, fun fact, several members of the Astros ball team are out with HFM. They're having to disinfect the club house b/c players keep getting it.
I am off today, working tomorrow. I was thinking of trying to go clothes shopping, but found out there was an outbreak in an area we had traveled to. So now I am getting vaccinated and adding the flu shot too. I guess with the disease you don’t get it right away so you can vaccinated after exposure and I think they are also just trying to limit the outbreak too. Such fun on the day off.
rere, DD was asking me that. I think that it was one of the assorted creamy salads. The folks at our preschool can be a little over the top, like someone brought a giant shrimp cocktail on ice. The kids are fine, and DD had deviled eggs there and potato salad, so not one of those. And DS ate some random stuff, mainly dessert. There was this green beam and mozzarella ball salad which may be the culprit. Maybe I will just bring myself a sandwich next time...

phdmomma it is most definitely worse for DH than either kid. DD had it for a few days before we realized what was happening. She's had pretty bad diaper rash off and on for the last month or so, which made bumps on her butt last weekend NBD to me. Same with her low grade fever since shes 18 months old and always teething (hence the constant rash almost). I was only suspicious of her bumps Wednesday night then DH came home from work Wednesday with a fever and woke up Thursday with bumps all over both feet. He's having a hard time walking and it's on his face now.

DDOT: MIL is notoriously bad with money and made what I would consider another bad financial decision within the last week.. She came over last night to hang out with DD until I got home from a dinner for a coworker who is retiring soon (and DH and DS were at football practice). When I pulled into my driveway, there was a new-looking car, so I asked her if she had gotten new car, and sure enough, she did. She is on a limited income due to being on social security disability (which I question whether she should even be on that), and then goes out and buys a brand new car, when the car she had was only 7 years old, less than 65,000 miles, and had no problems. She was still paying on the last car ($225/month) and luckily got more than what she owed on trade, but her new payment is a little over $100 more a month. I just don't understand why she felt she needed a brand new car when the one she had was fine.

TWERK - Applied for a job two weeks ago (internal). Crickets. I know that they have taken away a level of management in the chain and are split between who this role will report to. In the mean time, I've been give a few fire drill-type assignments from the executive that heads the department (things that the new role would be responsible for). It feels like a test or dress rehearsal of some sort. My fortune cookie yesterday was "You are soon going to change your present line of work."
Due to whoever’s capsule thread I went to Loft and H&M and bought a ton of clothes that are in my colors- blue, green, black, gray, white. I haven’t bought this much since 2011. They have sales right now.

I know folks with a split sleep cycle. You can embrace it and basically be up from 12 to 3 or you'll just need to push through until 9 or 10 so you sleep through. It used to be very common to have this cycle but if it is throwing you off it is time to make a change. Can you sleep in a few mornings so you're not quite so tired and can make it a bit later.
DDOT - does your child's schools require a TB test for you to volunteer? Our district does, but my coworker's (same town) does not. I'm annoyed I can't even do a TB assessment to show I'm not at risk like we did for DD to be enrolled in the district... I basically have to have to take off work 4 times in order to volunteer.. after all that, how would I have time to volunteer? (two for TB, one for getting the principal to sign the volunteer form, and once to get fingerprinted)

I’m amazed at all the crap they are putting you guys through to volunteer! We don’t have to do anything. No training, no shots, no background check. I know part is because it’s private school and I think they did a background check on us as part of the admissions process. And it’s a small school so everyone pretty well knows everyone else.
But now that I think about it, they didn’t require MIL to have a background check. Maybe I should mention to them they probably should require that. They are in the process of upping/increasing security on the campus. This is a logical next step.
We need Background checks for everything, and every organization requires you to fill out their paperwork so that they can run their own checks. Soccer, basketball, softball, school, religious ed all ran their own against the same database. Seems so inefficient.
Now we are in Catholic school so they require a background check and additional training to instruct us not to, like, abuse the kids. DH and I are wondering if the priests also have to attend this training...

We only do fingerprinting and background checks for volunteers who are in the school during the day a lot. Regular PTA helpers don't have to do it. I'll admit, that doesn't make sense to me.

We had to sign an authorization for a background check to do anything with the youth league for baseball/softball. I'm guessing it was more for people not from around here since in a town of 5000 if someone has been arrested you're going to know already.
The private school where the kids will go has to do mandatory safety training and a background check I'm sure. The training is online.
