I have a question. Since my egg retrieval, I have had some cramps, which I know would be normal, but yesterday (3dp5dt) I had sharp cramps. They didn’t last long, but I had them in my abdomen and one in my back. I emailed the clinic but thought I would ask if anyone here had experienced anything similar?

latte , I had pretty intense cramps with all of my transfers (1 CP, 1 fail) around that time. It's completely normal although might not mean much in terms of symptom spotting. Good luck!!

Ok, we are cleared to start a new FET cycle when my period comes again in mid-October, with very minor tweaks. This time I will get a low dose steroid and a 1 week course of antibiotics in addition to estrogen and progesterone. No vaginal estrogen, apparently my clinic only does oral because it’s easier to ensure proper dosing? Idk but she assured me that my lining last time was absolutely great and no need to worry. I’m also going to take supplemental vitamin E because why not.
Good luck today fairfax, we are thinking of you! Are you planning a fresh or a frozen transfer?
stellelinds25 I hope you get better news at monitoring tomorrow.
We are doing frozen with PGS.
They only got 5 eggs, so I’m a little disappointed. Last time we got 6 and we ended up with one good quality genetically normal 7 day blast. I was really hoping for at least 6 or better this time - I responded better to the protocol, I ate super healthy and lost a few lbs, and my stress level has been reduced like 70%. It doesn’t seem like it made much of a difference.
I guess we’ll see over the next couple weeks if any made it and are normal. In the meantime I’m taking the weekend “off” to have some wine and pizza. And Taco Bell, lol

I’m sorry the retrieval didn’t have as many eggs as you hoped. It’s so disappointing when it doesn’t meet expectations. Hopefully they are great quality and make some nice normal blastocysts. I will keep everything crossed for you.
In the meantime treat yourself! You deserve it, your body has been working hard.

I know how hard this is for sure. Glad you're taking the weekend off to recover and relax!

fairfax, I wouldn't focus too much on the number. My last retrieval I had 33 retrieved (22 were mature) and I only got 1 5 day blast. Lots of people here had fewer retrieved with many more high quality blasts. It truly is about quality and not quantity. In fact, this time our goal is to get fewer eggs. FX for you that you get 5 beautiful blasts!
fairfax, I want to ditto icedcoffee. The number isn't the thing, it's the quality. My second retrieval, I had 24 eggs retrieved, only 3 made it to 5 days and only 2 made it to freeze at 6 days, and they were both poor quality. Neither took on subsequent FETs.
I would rather have a few good quality eggs and embryos than a bunch of crappy ones. Really. So FX for the next few days that they turn into some really awesome blasts!
Transfer is done. It was nearly a total disaster though. The embryo thawed BEAUTIFULLY and DH was able to see it hatching even more under the microscope (so damned cool). However, when they tried to get the catheter in it was a full stop due to a cyst in my cervix. This was likely the problem during my biopsy too.
Anyhow...an hour later it took two drs and a senior ultrasound tech that was called over from the hospital to get it done....but they did it. It hurt like hell but they got it done. And no joke, everyone cheered when the catheter went in! Best of all, all seven people in the room (excluding my husband) were the most badass team of women. They all worked together so well, zero egos, just total tandem Effort from the nurses to the embryologist. BADASS. This will be the story I tell our son if we get to meet him one day.
Thank you all for your support and check in’s. I could not have gotten to this point without you all.

woowoo my goodness you poor thing! What an ordeal. I’m so glad they managed to get him in there and I hope he snuggles in for the long-haul and you just have an amazing story to tell about the day he was transferred. ❤️
