Has anyone done PR with kids? We're looking at a week in the Condado area in January. Our girls will be 8 and 11 and are both very strong swimmers so snorkeling/beaches is obviously on the itinerary. My boss is from PR and has family in the area so she's been giving me some suggestions too.
(The ultimate dream vacation would be tix to Hamilton while Lin is there but I'm definitely not holding my breath and that's not the reason we chose PR.)
We took our then 2 year old to PR in 2008. It was a lot of fun. We spent time in San Juan and Rincon. My only suggestion would be to make sure your GPS isn’t set to “avoid toll roads” because you definitely want to take the toll road especially if you are driving across the island, otherwise it take 4x as long. Haha.
We're taking our girls (they will be 10 and 8) in March. I can't wait! We did the Bahamas and Costa Rica with them over the last 2 spring breaks and they have had a blast. Plus they speak Spanish (I do not) so we need them there
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
We love visiting Puerto Rico and have been there a few times with our kids, at the toddler age and also at elementary school age. We have visited the East side/Atlantic (Luquillo) and the West side/Caribbean (Rincon). We were there last July, about a month before the hurricanes hit. You should check with each activity/location -seems a lot are still recovering from hurricane damage.
A friend of ours did surfing lessons in Luquillo, sounds fun.
Rincon is beautiful, but is ~3+ hours away from San Juan, so it could be a separate trip. Highly recommend PintosRUs for horseback riding on the beach (ages 6+) and lots of quiet beaches for snorkeling (Steps beach) or just relaxing. Rincon also has some delicious restaurants. pintosrus.com/ islandsofpuertorico.com/rincon-beaches-tres-palmas/
Hi, I’m from PR and we go there at least once a year. We spent two weeks in June in a rental in Río Grande. We had the beach to ourselves. My kids are 10, 8 and 4 and we always have a ton of stuff for everyone to do
Let me know if you have questions. My kids are acting crazy and I have have to make dinner
