This AM when I dropped BB off at daycare, the head teacher tells me "on the down low" that BB is their "star child". Um thanks? Then proceeds to tell me that when she sees great kids, it means they have great parents and that MH and I are so good with her. Great, yeah. Thanks. I guess this just rubbed me the wrong way since I do not feel like I am in love with them, too. Tonight is Back to School night, so that should be interesting. I suppose this is a bragplaint? LOL
Speaking of the daycare, I had posted about a month ago about how they lost her clothes and sneakers due to PTing. They mentioned a few times about reimbursing us, but we just let it go. Now we make sure we ask if there were any accidents and check for clothes. They seem to be hyper-aware as and make sure they let us know where the soiled clothes are.
Finally, I had also posted a thread asking for advice on about how to have curly hair when I wash the night before. I found something that works! I wash, "plop" in a microfiber towel, and then sleep on a sateen pillowcase. When I wake in the AM, my hair is still pretty damp and I can just shake it out a bit and I'm good to go. THIS IS AMAZING. I'm probably not supposed to sleep with my wet hair in a wrap, but it works for me a few times a week.
I'm about to lose it on H for his ability to ever pick up after himself.
On a related note, anybody feel like shopping for a storage ottoman to replace our coffee table? We have black leather couches, gray walls and needs to be no taller thank 17". And a yellow lab who rubs on furniture.
raangoli, that would kind of rub me the wrong way too. I mean its nice to hear, but do they think that kids who aren't the "star student" have parents who are less than? Its kind of a weird thing to say.
My random is that my FET worked! I got a BFP Tuesday at 4dp5dt and its been getting darker since. Beta isn't until next week, but i'm cautiously optimistic. If all goes well I'm due June 2nd
(And yes, it makes me feel like either she says this to all parents or makes me wonder about her and why she's judging everyone. She said that we follow through with BB when we tell her something or ask her to do something. I was like yes, of course we do, how else will she learn? WTF? I was so confused by the teacher this morning.)
hamster I've seen the ottoman cubes at places like Crate and Barrel that might fit what you're looking for? Otherwise, I've had luck finding ones at Homegoods.
raangoli I'm glad they like BB (you're awesome, so I can safely assume BB is as well!) but yeah, definitely weird if the feeling isn't mutual. Also that they're singling her out over other kids. I bet they meant it as a compliment to your parenting, but again, ack.
We are going to a daycare classmate's first birthday party this weekend. He came to DD's trainwreck of a birthday party so we felt it was right. Plus we're trying to expand our comfort zones and make new friends in town. Fine. But I still wish we could just spend the day on the couch. Or go down the Shore or something (we like going after Labor Day because the crowds are way smaller and it's not eight thousand degrees outside).
I'm on cycle 6 of TTC #2 at almost 37, and getting really bummed about it. I had planned to be pregnant again before Hobbes was 3, but I only have this 2ww and one more cycle after that to accomplish that. Feeling like it's not going to happen.
(((Susie ))) After 6 months of trying after age 35 the suggestion is you see an RE. If this cycle is a bust I'd make an appointment, because it can take some time to get in and get all your testing done. I'm sorry you're struggling
I'm so sorry you're struggling, Susie. Hoping this is your month!
(In a kind of BTDT type of story, after my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage, I had given myself an unofficial deadline of being pregnant again by my original due date of that pregnancy. I had the most spectacular pity party for myself when I was not pregnant at the due date. And then... got a BFP two days later. So wishing you a happy 'surprise' as well. Though I want to sympathize & send hugs that it sucks in the meantime)
DS started using everything as a phone (he will lift something up to his ear and say Hi Hi Hi). It is sooo cute. We never talk on the phone so I’m guessing he picked it up at daycare.
I'm a broken record about DD's sleep, buuuut... I'm cautiously optimistic that we might be through our 4 month sleep regression!! Two nights in a row and she's woken once when we are going to bed, once in the middle of the night and once in the morning around our usually wake time. She has some fussy moments in between but she goes back to sleep. It's been glorious! Her cold is also clearing up, so I'm sure that's helping. I'm still tired but I'm pretty sure that isn't ever going to go away, hah!
brooke77, S went through a phase of that and it was adorable. He still does it a little with the fake cell phone someone gave him as a bday gift, but he used to do it with the remote ALL THE TIME, lol.

I'm right there with you, except my DD turned 3 in June. I thought for sure I was pregnant last cycle, but nope. It seems like everyone with kids that are DD's age has had a second already; we weren't up for 2u2 or anything, but we definitely had hopes to be close to #2 by now.

raangoli don't feel bad or weird! DCP always said that about my first son since he was like 1, but have NEVER said it about my second (poor 2nd child lol). And I've found that their assessments were true, he's extremely bright (for ex, doing multiplication in 1st grade).
We're seeing a live Disney Junior show tonight and I'm super excited, but can't get myself to finish my work before I leave. I think it's a sign that I should quit, but H isn't quite on board yet (I've only been saying it for 5 years....)

This happened to us as well. The second pregnancy also ended in another mmc but that’s besides the point. It’s so hard to not be pregnant in the time frame you want to be. The monthly disappointment totally sucks and it’s a time in my life that I am glad is over. So many ((Hugs)) Susie. I hope you get pregnant soon.
scm1011- super excited for you and wishing you guys all the best!

hamster We have this one. It’s enough storage for a queen size comforter and a little more. My kids treat it like a jungle gym and it has held up well. I’ve just had to tighten the leg screws because of them.
Love to those of you who need it this week. We're seeing a live Disney Junior show tonight and I'm super excited, but can't get myself to finish my work before I leave. I think it's a sign that I should quit, but H isn't quite on board yet (I've only been saying it for 5 years....)
How was the show? We're going next Thursday. I told DD last night, and she is so excited!

It was fun! Lots of different characters and the kids all loved dancing!

Reviving old post for 2 reasons - I’m currently in the ‘bringing home multiple bags of soiled clothes a day’ stage. Is BB having less accidents at this point? We just finished week 1 in underwear and I am so tired of fighting her to go on the potty when she wants to play, and changing clothes, etc. I know it gets better, but my son was older and ‘got it’ much quicker.
For your hair, are you using like a turbie twist microfiber towel thing? I really need an option so I don’t have to shower every morning. It makes things impossible if DH isn’t home to watch kids.

For our second son - The first week of PT sucked and I was literally taking home 4-6 bags home a day. I said let's stop it, if he's having this many accidents, he's just not ready. We laid off and casually PT'd at home for about 2 weeks using pull-ups rather than cold turkey. Did pull-ups at daycare for about a week and then he started consistently having dry/clean pull-ups. So we then took the pullups off and he's been in underwear with maybe 1 accident in the past 2 weeks.
So, I know all kids are diff. But maybe your DD is just a slower and more casual PT'er? My 1st son did zero potty training, he got it on his own one night, WAY different from my 2nd son. So this is also new to me btw.

GL!
Thanks for the input! It’s crazy how different the kids are, just when I think I have some things figured out.
I asked daycare about stopping and trying again later, but they said she IS doing well and to keep on with it, esp after 0 accidents yesterday. She’s prompting us about half the time and never has a full accident, just stops and then runs to the potty. But then sometimes when she gets to the potty she argues she doesn’t actually have to go and that her underwear isn’t wet, lol. She is definitely just so different than her brother! I might try the pull-up thing. I will need to for some outings with long car rides tomorrow anyway!

The first two weeks were rough. At least one accident a day at daycare. Now that it’s been close to a month she’s doing so much better. She’s almost 2 weeks accident free (I hope I didn’t jinx it). She still fights to go on the potty and so we’re trying to get to a routine for when she pees which is working well.
And yes, it’s like a turbie twist made just for your hair. Some days turn out with better curls than the other but I’m also at the mercy of humidity lately as well. I hope it works for you!

I thought of you when I perfected my night shower/wet hair routine this week. I do what you do but I use a small amount of SheaMoisture's Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie when my hair is fresh from the shower then spray with the Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla leave in conditioner spray at night and my curls look great and really keep their shape all day and only need a little refreshing the second day. I’ve even skipped the wrapping (but my hair is not super long) and it looks great. I’ve never had such even curls!
Target has large “trial size” bottles of each for pretty cheap.
