I have a new eye shadow pallet and I've been experimenting with a smokier eye; I think it looks good. It leans toward the purples. But I need a nude lip. And every time I wear a nude lip, I feel like it looks like I forgot lipstick. I went out with my girlfriends last night and I loved their bold lips and felt like I had nothing on.

Nude is subjective. There’s warm nudes, cool nudes and a my lips bit better (MLBB) nude. For a smokey eye look and nude lip, I prefer a nude with peach undertones. My current favorite is UD’s cream liar.
Ditto a peachy nude like UD Liar. Lately when I’m doing a heavy eye look I’ve been just grabbing a gloss with a hint of color to it. Fenty Gloss Bomb in the original shade is my favorite or the Neutrogena Hydro Boost glosses have a nice selection of nude shades.
With a purple eye look I like a pinky nude. I’ll have to look at some of my options in the morning, but like others said, it’s going to be subjective based on your skin tone.
I think it was Lisa Eldridge on YouTube who did a great video on the best nudes depending on undertone of the nude and skin tone.
Depends on the purple. If it's more burgundy with red undertones then I do a peachy nude. If it's more bright purple with blue undertones I like a pinky nude. I even have a purple nude I love (benefit balm that isn't made anymore).
I rarely wear a nude that washes my lip color out completely. I think of it as fading the intensity of a lipstick or my natural lip color, rather than making my lips skin color. Brown is the hardest undertone for me, but not true for others.
