Lol. It seems like the local candidates are doing ok, I assume because it's a much smaller operation. But the candidate for Congress in my district and our candidate for Governor have the most disorganized campaigns and it's really frustrating. This is my first time seeing a campaign from this side, so I'm not sure if this is the norm.

Yes. All of them. It's interesting that the local candidates seem to be doing ok compared to the higher level ones. In my experience the higher level ones are staffed WAY better with more people who actually know what they are doing. Doesn't mean they're not a mess, but it's less amateur hour than the local races, which around here mostly have brand new 21 year old campaign babies running the show as CMs and field directors.
Although this year is kind of a notable exception as one of the worst-run campaigns in the state is the statewide coordinated campaign by the Democratic Party (Warren's campaign is headlining it.) They are a hot damn mess and it's on my nerves.

Ok, this is somewhat reassuring.
Our Congressional candidate is kicking off a 12 counties in 12 days tour, starting today in my county. YESTERDAY one of his volunteers emailed me for suggestions on where to go. Dude, seriously?!?
Our county commissioner races are pretty small scale, and our stellar candidate for state delegate has a total political junkie as her campaign manager. They're doing a great job.

Any time volunteers are put in charge of anything remotely important I'd assume the campaign doesn't care too much whether it is done well. I think a lot of times they are really good at doing the elements that matter to them, and really skimp on anything else.

They are all various stages of hot mess.
I worked on a campaign in 2016 and our candidate came out of nowhere in the primary and was not expecting to have to run a real campaign. Our campaign manager ran Bernie Sanders campaign for the state of Minnesota so he knew what he was doing; the rest of the staff not so much. We got a bunch of Bernie staffers that needed a job but we also had 2 youngins with no experience who were in charge of things that they should not have been dealing with (event planner and our political coordinator- aka the guy who was supposed to present our candidates platform to the public).
When the CADEMS and DCCC stepped up to help, we ended up with the dregs of what was left of their staff. The girl who was in charge of field team spent her entire day watching videos on netflix and youtube.
