My house smells like stinky cat. I sweep, I mop, I remove cat hair from the furniture, I febreze, I open windows. Nothing works. I swear when I laid down last night, my pillow smelled like cat.
I’m watching season two of Below Deck while completing some boring reporting.
I fell asleep sitting up at 5:45 last night. I sat down to read with DD and was out cold until DH had a fit about it and woke me up. I think I would have slept straight through the night.

shakinros, I’m so afraid my house smells like cat. I hate it.
I just got got an email letting us know that one of the sales VPs is leaving at the end of the month. He never really fit in and, in his defense, was stuck between a rock and a hard place with our EVP who told him to make decisions but then would slap his hand for making those decisions (mostly money related). It made my life hell trying to plan events and he would go dark on me and not respond. I’m not sure if he was pushed out or left of his own accord but I’m glad he’s leaving. Maybe not a huge confession.
I was selected for a random search of my car on my way into the work parking lot this morning. My the back of my car was a filthy mess of kids toys and trash. I'm pretty sure they ruled me out of being a threat within seconds.
I used to want a cat, until my grandma had anywhere from 5-8 indoor/outdoor cats. Her house smelled beyond awful and she couldn't keep up with cleaning after she got into her 80s (she passed away at 92). She had a whole room of her house (about 8' x 7') for litter. When my grandma passed away, I was PG with DD, so I got out of cleaning her house and especially the litter room.
I would not be disappointed if DS's baseball scrimmage (double-header) on Sunday is postponed again due to weather.
I was not sorry at all that DH signed up for an extra day at work. He will be out for 5 nights, which means the bed to myself and doing exactly want I want to do. Plus, extra money.
I have been so busy at work and at home and life, that I don't have anything going on this weekend and I am almost confused about it. I think I have forgotten how to do nothing and maybe just binge watch TV or read a book or something. I had some downtime last night and tried to read or watch a show and it's like I have ADHD, I can't just sit and do one thing. I have broken my relaxation ability. I used to be able to just sit and read all day.
Every year we do Halloween and Trick or Treating with my BFF and her son. Her son is beyond awkward. He has a whole slew of learning disorders and I think is likely on the autism spectrum though he’s undiagnosed. So he’s never had school friends. Every year, he spends 3/4 of the time trick or treating bitching because he has to walk. (He’s also obese.) He is nine and my kids are 4 and 6. We have to stop early every year because he can’t walk anymore. We live in a neighborhood with 4 streets, 3 are 1 block long and the fourth runs behind, connecting the other three, so basically is 2 blocks long. We aren’t talking miles of walking here!
This year we have been invited to another family’s house to trick or treat. Three families would be there, and we really like them. Two of the kids are in DD’s grade. My kids really want to go, and I can’t see saying no. DD even gave as one of her reasons that BFF’s son makes everyone stop early. While part of me really loves our tradition, and I want my kids to be kind and compassionate, I think there are better ways than ruining my kids’ Halloween. But the guilt!!!
BFF sent DS to a new school this year, so I’m hoping he’s made some friends he can go with. Or he can go with his cousin.
mommyatty, I would let them go with their friends. He is 9 years old so they are not going to be friends with him. They can be nice and not be friends. If you give the mom plenty of time to make the changes no big deal. It would be mean to tell them no at the last minute. I would have no guilt and just make time to hang out with BFF at another time. It sounds like her son doesn't really like trick or treating anyway
xctsclrx, they are friends, believe it or not. Her son is very immature for his age and DD is very mature, so they are on the same level. So we all hang out quite a bit. He’s a sweet boy. It’s just the obnoxious complaining about having to move that makes my kids nuts. Like they don’t want to ever invite him to the park but they love having him over on a rainy Saturday when they can build pillow forts and make ramps to race Hot Wheels.
We got an email yesterday that DS's aftercare has lice. Which always seems to happen at daycares. Today we got an email that they will not be taking the aftercare kids because too many staff are out with lice. Umm....it's noon and school gets out at 2:45pm....not alot of time to plan here. I hope he doesn't get lice, we have been lucky so far, and I am itchy just thinking about it.
phdmomma - staff are out sick with lice? I would escalate the holy hell out of that. The infestation is so bad they can’t staff their program and this is the first you’re hearing of it? At least it’s Friday? Ugh.
"Due to extremely unfortunate circumstances with the lice infestation and being short-staffed this afternoon (even staff have it ), we are having to close Center Name. We are very very sorry for the inconvenience and understand this is a serious decision that we have considered all morning.
We hope that families can make arrangements to pick up their kiddos as soon as possible. We have begun sanitizing and cleaning intensely. This will hopefully give us the 48 hours needed to kill any nits or lice bugs that may be live here. We are also asking families to check their little ones daily for the next few days."
We did get an email yesterday saying that there was one case of lice.....but we've never had someone close an entire center....This place is super unorganized. But we use it because they bus from DS's school to the center, which is 1 block from my office. They also called me to let me know, and thankfully called the school (so the school called me), to see what DS's transportation plan home is for the day....
That is sooooo unacceptable AND crazy. I mean, have they read the CDC guidelines? What kind of cleaning are they DOING?? I suspect there’s something else afoot.
2chatter, I wouldn't be surprised. And no, I doubt that they have read the CDC guidelines.....and I may have to send a copy their way. The fact that they have lice isn't surprising, we've been through at least one lice scare a year at each daycare, it's that they are closing. They are also getting an earful from alot of parents who are replying all to their email message.
Ohhhh that might be a scenario where I like reply all. Totally send it to them. I am just in awe of this insanity. There are surely parents who are in meetings and cannot viably get to their kids at release with this kind of notice.
phdmomma, it may not be a bad idea to get some of the spray on products or Fairy Tales type spray. Some have better luck than others, but it won't hurt to go ahead and use as a preventative.
rere , I ordered some when I heard. I got their preventative shampoo too. I already have a lice kit and nit comb that I keep on hand just in case.
k3am , I am keeping my fingers crossed. We dodged it last year when they had it for like 2 months at DD's daycare. It was so bad there that they started bagging all of the kids' extra clothing (2 year old room - lots of potty accidents). And the teacher had a thing of tea tree oil that she asked us to dab on the kids. I'm just itchy thinking about all of it.
At least DH is working from home and can grab him, I'm booked with meetings.

More than once I’ve had my bag checked only for security to encounter spare kid underwear.

From someone that has searched thousands and thousands of cars, messy doesn't bother the people searching.
Ugh. I tried Safeway delivery again after a 6 month hiatus due to some poor delivery things and they gave me $15 salmon that is use by today when my groceries were delivered at 6:30pm. I’m so annoyed. Totally a FWP but geez. I emailed them and asked for a refund.

FFFC: DH and I have separate bank accounts and I managed to save an emergency fund without him knowing. I didn't tell him because he would want to put it towards the mortgage when I believe we need liquid savings (as do almost all financial planners). Our bank did an update last weekend and now my account is visible on his log in. I'm waiting for him to blow up about it.

Is his name on your account? I would be annoyed with the bank. DH and I also have separate accounts and I have a cash reserve to cover surprise cash only expenses. If he knew I had it he would want to spend it. So I don't tell him. He appreciates that I have it every year when we do our taxes and I have to add money to our escrow account.

Yes, his name is on my account, he's just never had access to it. My savings has come in handy for those same reasons. We've had large tax bills the last two years and I was able to cover them. With his spending, we wouldn't have been able to come up with the cash.

Might be time to open account elsewhere...
Funny that I already had but had transferred the money to our main bank because they were running a CD rate special. So I think if he does give me crap about it, I'll be moving money back to that bank account.
