Yes. I mostly just rate unless the book is really bad, then I leave a review. I use year I read shelves starting from when I joined Goodreads. I also have an "abandoned" shelf to help me remember the truly awful books that I couldn't finish.
I give a rating randomly....usually if I'm at the computer when I "shelve" a book, I'll leave a review, or if I really liked it or really hated it. Its kind of funny to me to look back at my old reviews and consider how my opinion has changed (I think I left a REALLY positive review for Allegiant, lmao.)
I shelve by year, but like pixy0stix, just starting with the year I joined GR. I also have a "read in school" shelf for books that I definitely read and remember, but read years ago. I then break it down by genre -very loosely - like I have a shelf for Nora Roberts, for nonfiction, for kids stuff (like parenting books), for books I didn't finish, YA, etc. I don't break it down much beyond that.
I really like goodreads - I think it helps me to find new books and I like being able to track what I've read, since I tend to read in spurts, so I'll read 5 books in a week and then forget what I read.

I love using Goodreads to track my books. I have shelves for each year and also by audiobooks per year as well. I also have shelves for a few different genres, if I own it, if it's in a series, if it's a reread or not released yet. I also track any challenges or book clubs I've participated in over the years. I have a favorites shelf and a shelf for covers that I like. So ya, a lot of shelves. I love organizing my books.
I definitely rate every book I read but I don't often review. I would like to more but I just haven't made the time. Maybe I'll start in 2019.
My username is kelliemcc if anyone wants a new friend!
I write a pretty short review of every book I read. Mainly for myself so I can remember what the book was about and what I particularly did/did not like about it if I ever have to remind myself what it was about, but in a way that usually does not involve spoilers. I do mark actual spoilers with spoiler tags. But in general I like the reviews because it helps other people who are my GR friends figure out whether or not they may want to read it, and as a good point of reference to discuss books we both read even if it's been years since i read it myself.
But as you can see I have a ridiculous amount of shelves. I have exclusive shelves for Read/Currently Reading/Want to Read/Did Not Finish/Not Yet Released/Novella. Then I have shelves for the year I read the book. Shelves for the genre of the book (ex: fiction, if I already read it, unread fiction if I haven't read it yet) to help me more easily find a book to recommend to others OR to help me find a book to read more easily if I feel like reading a particular genre. Shelves for where I can find the book (ex: buy, library, overdrive, hoopla) and whether or not it's a book I listened to (audiobook) or one I plan to listen to (library-to-listen).

So yeah, crazy.
I rely on your reviews A LOT. We have similar taste in a lot of books and when I'm browsing my library for a new read and you pop up when I look it up on Goodreads, it often sways me one way or another. So thank you for your reviews!

I love seeing what everyone is reading. Feel free to friend me! I'm jkfranklin13.
I usually write a little review to help myself remember how I felt about a book. Along with the star rating.
I have shelves by genre, if they are a series, if they are made into a movie/TV show and if I've watched it yet or not. I also make shelves from those lists you find online. Like oysters best books or yyyy, Obama recommends, 53 books you won't be able to put down. And I have shelves by stars. I do this so that I can get recommendations from goodreads based on my 5 star books not including my 2 star books.
I review everything on Goodreads, not just star ratings. My reviews for books I like tending to be shorter than the books I hate (ufcasey can attest that I tend to rant when I hate a book, LOL!). Although my longest review ever was for a 5 star non-fiction book; I was one of the first few reviewers and the author herself liked my review! And probably my second longest was for that idiotic Polar Bear tattoo book from a few weeks ago that I mocked mercilessly and included gifs. LOL!
My shelves are the standard GR shelves of Read, Currently Reading, and Want to read, and then I recently added an abandoned shelf (which only has one book on it because I rarely abandon books), and I have a couple of other shelves to track my library's reading challenges they started doing last year (I need to update this year's shelf), and two shelves for the different years of the LeVar Burton Reads podcast. I kind of don't care about the shelves beyond the defaults though. The others barely get used.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE goodreads. I read a decent amount but am terrible at remembering what I've read and what I thought of it. There were so many times that I'd get a book out of the library and get a half-chapter in to realize I'd already read it. Plus I'd have friends asking for recs. and I'd blank on what I'd recommend, or give me recs. and I'd make a note and forget where I put it. So I try to rate and write at least a brief review of everything I read. The only shelves I have are my 'read' and 'to-read' shelves. Any time a friend loves a book, or I read articles that suggest books that sound good, or a book references another book, I add it to the list. And when I run out of stuff to read, I go through the list and search ones that are available at the library for Kindle and request them, no matter how long the waiting list. So I usually have a que of a few books at least that I wanted to read at some point ready for me to pick from when I finish a book. And then for actual book clubs or books I can't wait to read, I prioritize and get physical copies if needed. I also love getting them emails about my friends' updates on Goodreads to see what they are reading and what they thought.

Also, I just sent friend requests to everyone on here that listed their names. I'm pretty sure my username is my full name, so I'm not going to post it though.

I love goodreads! I mainly just rate unless a book was really great or really disappointing, then I’ll write a review. I especially love using it to remember books I want to read, and I love browsing reviews to determine whether a book should make the list. Reviews are generally inflated for a lot of books, I’ve found, so I always make sure to read a few low rated reviews too.
I have a few friends on there, but I don’t read the same books as most people I know in real life, so their ratings don’t hold much interest to me.
I use it a lot. It's the only way I can keep track of what I've read. I'm a pretty hard rater though and tend to leave reviews maybe 75% of the time. I am not as good as ufcasey about reviews.
I just sent friend requests to those listed in the thread. Here's my link if anyone wants to friend me: www.goodreads.com/ssm0120

I don't always write a review, but I do star my finished books and make sure they're on my "read" list so I don't accidentally start reading a book again because I forgot I had ready it before. I also register for giveaways. I just won Ellie Kemper's memoir but I haven't received it just yet.

I mostly just rate books. Sometimes I write a review. I like seeing what others are reading. I just upped my yearly reading challenge total from 50 to 60 as I was way the original goal and thought I should add more but I don't think 60 is really that challenging. I will keep that in mind for setting next year's goal.
My goodreads username is jnm999
ETA: In addition to the basic shelves I also have shelves for favorites, audio, could not finished and book club. I was tracking books by year for awhile and then goodreads did the challenge and that seemed so much easier.
