I'll be starting Accutane (Epuris brand) in the next week for the second time and remembering from last time my face got extremely dry and flaky. Currently, I'm using CeraVe day & night lotion but I'm feeling like I'll need something else. Any recs on a good moisturizer? Also, a good lip moisturizer as my lips were the worst last time?
My go-to night time moisturizer is the Clinique super rescue antioxidant night moisturizer for very dry to dry skin. They make it in a few different formulations so you can get the one that's right for your skin type at the time. my favorite products for lips are the Paula's Choice lip and body treatment balm and the Neosporin overnight lip repair.
Thataylaa on YouTube has a few good videos documenting her experience with accutane. I’ll link her video with all her skincare suggestions. If I remember correctly a lot of it was drugstore prices. Hopefully that link works otherwise search Thataylaa Accutane and you’ll find her playlist. youtu.be/nF2lEzW2NY8

Oh man, I did that too and worry one day a second round will be in my future.
I needed so much extra moisture. I’d add an oil - honestly one you can use a lot (squalene, jojoba, Rosehip). Sometimes topping it with aquapjor,
For my lips I had so much flaking, I’d mix olive oil and sugar and scrub. Then add aquaphor.
I also add jojoba to my conditioner because my hair got so dry.
I have extremely dry skin and the best thing is an ingredient called urea. I’ve only found a few options with it, unfortunately. Right now I’m using Eucerin Advanced Repair hand cream. It is kind of heavy so I usually use it as a night cream, but it’s fine for me during the day when I’m particularly flakey. Check the label because eucerin has several formuals and not all contain urea.

You can buy urea lotion from amazon. It’s pretty hard core. I used it on my cracked feet at recommendation from the podiatrist and it did wonders!

I am alternating between Mamonde sleeping lip mask and Laneige lip mask. My lips have never been in better shape and I have dry lips on the best of days.

Thanks all! I'm going to head to the drug store and grab a bunch of the recommended items. I'm trying to get as much moisture before I start since my skin is dry to begin with.

I’d also recommend Thayer’s rose witch hazel. I use it as my “7 skins” (which is just a fancy way of saying use multiple layers of hydrating toner). I put it in a spray bottle and spritz it on several times (six or seven or ten times -who really counts?). I honestly think this has done more for hydrating my skin than anything else. I even do little spritzes over my makeup.

I use this toner as well. I need to do more like what MrsAxilla described up there. My skin is already reacting to the less humidity.
