I have a decision to make. I need help I’ve been dealing with some low back pain/hip pain that has flared up. I’ve also been dealing with colds and strep and felt run down. I’ve already concluded that my marathon this Sunday wasn’t going to be what I wished it would be. Then I looked at the weather. 20 mph winds with gust up to 28. Do I: A. Just suck it up. B. Cancel my hotel (last day to do so is today), take a week or 2 and get my back in order and then set my sights on kiawah.
B. I say give yourself time to heal and enjoy Kiawah. That race will most likely be there again if you want to run it when you feel more prepared and healthy.
I would absolutely DNS. 26 miles with back pain could make things a lot worse. And with those conditions? No thanks. Better to get healthy and plan on an amazing Kiawah!
