Life has been in the way of my posting here lately, but I thought I’d get this thread going. What are you reading this week? How is it going? Any standouts, good or bad?
QOTW: What are your favorite and least favorite days of the week?
I’m working on The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton. I haven’t had a lot of time for it, but both the modern and historical stories have started to hook me. Hoping to have good reading time this weekend, I’m listening to The Stranger in the Woods, about s man who lives as a hermit in Maine for 25+ years. Pretty interesting, though I’ve been listening while driving and my attention sometimes wanders off (which is why I’ve avoided audio books in the past).
Qotw: I hate Thursdays. I tend to be worn out and overwhelmed by the time Thursday hits, and it’s a hard day to get through. Sundays are probably my favorite — I try to get my weekend chores done Saturday and leave Sunday for what I actually want to do.
I'm apparently now reading Tower of Dawn by Sarah Maas lol. I'm about 50 pages in so we will see how it goes. So many new characters! And I don't remember that much about the other books so maybe this will be a good refresher.
Sorry Ben Rhoades, I'll get back to The World As It Is....at some point.
Favorite day of the week is Saturday. Even when we are busy, I love not having to work. I telework Wed/Thurs/Fri, so the feeling of waking up and not having to sign in is just so nice, since sometimes the line between work and home can get blurred.
Least favorite- not to be cliché, right now probably Tuesday. It's an office day, so I get up early (around 515) and then I don't usually get home until close to 5 and then DS has soccer at 6, so those 45 minutes we are home are hectic and busy.
I hope it's OK if I just jump in. I read a lot last year but sort of slacked off most of this year. My reading has just started to pick up again.
I just finished The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller yesterday afternoon. I really liked it. I probably liked Circe a smidge better and I read that immediately preceding Achilles. Anyway, I plan to start The Fact of a Body by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich today. I'm concerned it might be too gruesome for me but I guess I'll find out!
QOTW: I'm not sure I have a favorite or least favorite day of the week. I'm a SAHM so all the days blur together. I go to yoga on Mondays so that's probably my favorite day. I feel so much lighter afterwards. I like the weekends because it means quality time with my husband and I get a little break from full-time parenting but I also don't sleep as well. That's not my favorite.

I finished The Couple Next Door and started Don't Let Me Go by J.H. Trumble, so far so good.
QOTW: Favorite I'd have to say Friday's and Saturdays. I can leave 30 minutes earlier (most of the time) on Friday's and love looking forward to the weekend. Even when Saturday's are busy you still have another day off. Least favorite would probably be Monday's and Thursday's, I'm super tired by Thursday and the nights tend to be busy even though I do things all week.
I'm reading Hank Green's new book, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. I'm only about 50 pages in, but his writing style and voice are similar to his Vlog Brothers videos. So if you enjoy that slightly rambling, no internal thoughts, but intelligent voice of his, I think you'll like this book.
QOTW: Saturday is the best, obvs. Though my favorite thing is from Friday at 5pm to bedtime. That unburdening of the week and going to be knowing there is no alarm clock is the BEST feeling. The worst? Probably Monday, though Tuesday gives it a run for it's money.

Spoonbenders - Daryl Gregory. The premise was good, but the execution of the book didn't deliver for me so I slogged through it.
In between I read the Game On series (books 1-4) by Kristen Callihan (romance novels about Football players). They were okay but each book was very similar.
Nothing Is Okay- Rachel Wiley (poetry). I had seen her performance of one of her poems floating around facebook. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRFOTqTicvY) The poetry was excellent but I think her performance of her work is what makes it exceptional, so I did miss that reading the poems (although I did read them with her voice in my head).
Raised by Unicorns: Stories from Children with LGBTQ+ Parents by Frank Lowe.

Currently reading (audiobook) my book club's Nov selection, The Art of Crash Landing by Melissa DeCarlo. I am enjoying and didn't think I would. I definitely do not like the main character, hoping she redeems herself. Also picking up where I left off on Tower of Dawn to finish it before the last book's release at the end of the month.
ETA: QOTW - probably Friday, usually pretty mellow at the office and I can just breathe. Sunday (night) or Monday would be my least favorite day of the week.

This week I finished Time's Convert by Deborah Harkness. I liked it. It was fun being back with those characters. I also read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander. So good. J.K. is such a genius. I just can't wrap my head around the thoughtfulness and work she puts into everything she does.
I'm currently reading Carrie along with my husband (reading separately but at the same time). It's my first Stephen King and it took a little getting used to the writing style, cough-lack-of-punctuation-cough, but I like the story. I'm about 55% through.
I'm also reading The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George. It's a little different than what I expected going in but I like it so far.
QOTW: I love Fridays and Saturdays. Fridays are usually pretty chill at work and then you don't have to worry about getting up on Saturday. I love no alarm days. I tend to get the Sunday Scaries so that's definitely my worst day.

I'm reading Consumed by JR Ward. I'm just barely into it but I'm interested to see where it goes. Probably her standard formula.
QOTW: Favorite day is Saturday. I can sleep in AND stay up late. Or maybe I sleep in so I can stay up late. Least favorite day is probably Wednesday. We tend to have a lot of server issues on Wednesday which I have to fix. Also, Wednesday is never a day I would take PTO on unless I'm taking a full week off.

I *almost finished Give Me Your Hand by Megan Abbot, I had 2 chapters or so left and my book expired Im back on the waiting list I will probably end up buying or eading the last few chapters in B&N (if they have it)
Currently reading, and almost finished, Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows. Really enjoying so far!
Stilllllllllll sitting on my coffee table, staring at me, is Literary Guernsey...I jsut cant get into it
QOTD:
Worst - prob Thursday? I am wiped and tired and ready for the weekend Favorite: Saturday. Love knowing I have a full night off and a full day ahead
I'm just finishing The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafron. I'm excited to be done so I can start the Cuckoo's Calling. Shadow of the Wind is so odd. This is how I'd summarize - first 1/3 "Who cares? Why are these people so excited about this author?" second 1/3, "This got weird" and last 1/3 "This is more exciting, but can it finish already" Lol.
I finished Lethal White by Robert Galbraith, 2*. I usually like the Cormoran Strike series, but I just couldn't get into this book. It was an ok book, but a disappointment when stacked up against the other Cormoran books.
I started reading Killman Creek by Rachel Caine.
QOTW: My least favorite day is Monday. It's a busy day, plus my weekly to do lists start on Mondays. So I'm also looking at a huge to do list that needs to be finished for the week as well. My favorite day is Friday. I try to get most of my tasks done by Thursday so I can have some me time to recharge before everyone is home for the weekend.
Read: Knotted by Pam Godwin 2.5 stars/contemporary romance Disturbing thing happens in the beginning but then the story gets stupid
Riveted by Meljean Brook 4 stars/steampunk romance Not really my preferred genre I have decided, but I really like this series despite that
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson 3 stars/mystery horror-lite This isn't scary at all, and I didn't really enjoy this because it just didn't make sense.
Black Crown (#3 in Darkest Drae series) by Raye Wagner 1 star/ya fantasy This book right here is basically every reason why I try to avoid most YA books
Bossypants by Tina Fey 4.5 stars/non-fiction I am so late to this party, but this is GREAT! Loved the audiobook!
Total so far for the year: 124
QOTW: My favorite day is always Saturday - no work that day and no work the next day Least favorite - probably Tuesdays because I always have a ton of meetings and a lot of work still to do before it's the weekend again
I just finished A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult (4.5 stars) and The Selection (a YA series...I don't know how to rate it. It was entertaining brain candy, so I liked it.
Now on to The Clockmaker's Daughter and Fear (the Bob woodward book).
My favorite day is Friday night, where the weekend is here with two full days ahead of you to enjoy it. Least favorite might be Tuesday. On monday, I start out positive. By Tuesday, I'm like "When is the weekend going to get here?"
I’m reading Packinko and listening to Americans fire, which I haven’t made much progress on. Not far enough into Pachinko to have much of an opinion.
My favorite days for a long time have been Friday’s, often because of the anticipation of the weekend. I have really started to like most of Sunday’s, except the after dinner mad scramble to get ready for the week.

I won Ellie Kemper's memoir My Squirrel Days on Goodreads so I've been reading that. It's pretty short and an easy read.
QOTW: It honestly depends on the week. Some weeks we have events at the museum on Saturdays which means I am typically off Sunday-Monday. Basically and day I don't have to work is nice. I hate Wednesdays because we have overly long staff meetings and they're such time sucks and usually really boring.
It was a slow reading week for me. I haven’t made much progress but I did start Drawdown - The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming, edited by Paul Hawken. It is more of a reference book of 100 ideas and I’m reading it straight through.
QOTW: I like Fridays best because of the anticipation of the weekend. I don’t really have a least favorite day. Mondays are kind of nice since I stay at home and my family leaves the house quiet.
I finished The View from Flyover Country, so great. The title is a bit misleading; it’s more about systemic problems within America that promote the interests of the wealthy at everyone else’s expense.
I also finished The Last Cruise. It got started a little slow but the last half was super harrowing. After reading this I’m pretty convinced that I never never never want to go on a cruise.
I finished Salvage the Bones (it's really good) and now I'm reading Improvement: A Novel, which so far is fine. I've fallen off my Neil Gaiman graphic novel train and need to get back on.
QOTW: I don't work now, so all the days are basically the same to me.
I'm currently reading Carrie along with my husband (reading separately but at the same time). It's my first Stephen King and it took a little getting used to the writing style, cough-lack-of-punctuation-cough, but I like the story. I'm about 55% through.
It's been a LOOOONG time since I last read Carrie, so I don't remember any punctuation weirdness, but you should know that his writing style usually includes perfectly normal punctuation. If you like the story, don't let that be the thing that keeps you from reading other King books, because they won't be like that.

He would just insert random thoughts in the middle of a sentence. It was sentences within sentences. I don't know. I got used to it though. I think the thing that deters me most from reading his others is the length. Some are so long.
Last week I finished: The Obelisk Gate 4*, glad I read the series, not sure I will stick with the author. We Begin Our Ascent 4*, Joe Mungo Reed. This book was about the Tour de France, the one sporting event I avidly watch, so I really liked it.
I just started The Wednesday Sisters, it should be an easy read based on chapter 1.
QOTW: Tuesday is my least favorite day, I tend to forget it exists and often think it is Wednesday only to be disappointed that it is not. My favorite, like many others, is Friday after work - knowing I can put work behind me and enjoy my weekend.
