Is there something that works better than Bodyglide or Aquaphor? Those are the things I’ve always used, and they usually do the job. However, lately on long runs, all of my shorts with back zipper pockets have been chafing me where the zipper is, and it’s really painful. No amount of body glide or Aquaphor is solving the problem. I’m wondering if there’s something more effective. Thanks!

Squirrel's Nut Butter is really popular around here with the ultra endurance crowd. (WS100 and the Thornleys and all that, plus they have vegan versions.) I stick with aquaphor generally because it works for me, but I've heard really REALLY great things about it.
How old are your shorts? It may be that the fabric has given a bit around the zipper if they’be been washed a bunch. I’ve had this happen to random pairs of shorts/sports bras, it’s like they hit their expiration date.
They’re old, so that’s very possible. I didn’t used to have this problem with them. But they’re my favorite shorts for long runs (aside from this particular problem), so I’m hanging on to them. They’re a style that isn’t made anymore, so I can’t replace them.

A while back fuckyourcouch recommended RunGoo for foot blisters and I bought it. I’ve been using it for that and other chafing this summer and it’s been amaaaaaaazing. I slathered it all over before Chicago and never chafed at all.
