I feel so sad the series is done. Overall, I liked it. I feel like it was a satisfying ending. I kept picturing Morath as Mordor and Orynth as Gondor lol.
Times I cried: -13 sacrificing themselves -Dorian and Chaol's reunion Probably more but I can't remember lol
Things I wish were done better: -how the lock played out and branching off of this- Aelin not fighting the last battle with her full fire power -Gavriel's death -Erawan's power- like he just layed there and took it, lol
Manon was awesome. I loved when she battled the 3 high witches. I thought that was really well done her coming into her queenly role.
I also loved Dorian. He was badass the whole book. Tricking Maeve, the shifting, helping destroy Erawan.
Chaol and Yrene were good. I enjoyed all their parts. Especially when Yrene told Manon and Dorian to just get married.
Aelin and her court-
I hated that Aedion and Lysandra were basically in battle the whole book, but I guess that's realistic. Eldie- I wish something more came of her witch blood, but I mostly liked her Aelin and Rowan- I feel like when they were reunited it was very realistic with the torture Aelin endured. I loved them the whole book. I wish Aelin didn't lie to Rowan about he lock though.

I tore through the book in two days.
- The torture of Aelin was so hard to read. - It was a satisfying ending but I do wish we had jumped a few years to check in but it is what it is. - Dorian and Choal’s reunion was a tear jerker. - The Thirteen sacrifing themselves was when I lost it.

I cried the hardest at the Thirteen’s sacrifice. - Also cried at Chaol’s Reunion with Aelin, and with Dorian, and when Elide rescued Lorcan.
I really loved it. I wished Aelin had retained her fire powers through the end of the book. I understand the final battles had more tension without it but I was so looking forward to her burning some shit and I feel like I missed out on that payout.
I didn't allow myself to start until yesterday because I knew I wouldn't be able to stop. I feel very melancholy now that it's done.
I also cried at the Thirteen's sacrifice.
I think it was really well done. It wouldn't surprise me if she picks back up in this world at some point, I can't imagine giving something up completely that I had worked on for so much of my life.

Oh, did other people catch the Rhys appearance at the end when Aelin was falling through worlds? I thought it was a little cheesy, but I did enjoy my favorite High Lord helping out my favorite assassin queen.

Yeah I agree. I was hoping she would use her power to wipe out half of Erawan's army and destroy Maeve.

I agree, chopping off Maeve's head wasn't nearly as satisfying as burning her into nothing but ash would have been.

I did not catch that it was Rhys! I figured it was a random fae from whatever world they escaped to after Terrasan fell. Or is that where Rhys lives?!?
overall it was a satisfying conclusion. I needed a happy ending - lol. It probably could have been about 100 pages shorter. I told DH “hang on - I’m in the middle of a battle scene!” for like three days. I would have liked more with Manon and Dorian instead.
I liked it! I’m sad it’s over. The thirteen part was so sad but also so well written. I didn’t read Tower of Dawn but didn’t feel like I missed too much that I couldn’t put together. I’m glad Aelin lived, of course, though I also wish we would’ve got at least some of her burning a crap ton of enemies to ash.
Anybody have any other series recs? I already read ACOTAR.

Have you read any of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse books? Not as romance heavy, but a well written fantasy world. I particularly love the Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom duology, it’s got a fun Ocean’s Eleven crime heist vibe to it.

Oh and I forgot to say, I do think her books all end up in perfectly matched couples too much. Like not every single character needs a true love mate. Lol.

The Bargainer Series is good. Also the Karen Marie Moning Fever Series is good.
