Oh dear. I'm not sure what's more horrifying. Wearing the shirt, or being one of the unfortunate souls whose photo got plopped onto that shirt. (Can you imagine being Mr. Right Boob over there?)
ETA: Also, it took me a second to realize that's a photo of a cannon start, not a bombing. Which may be even more unfortunate.

Thank you for pointing out that it was a cannon. I was seeing a bombing too and the 'what the fuck' horror on my face was...extreme.
Me. My friend and I decided it is an awful shirt meant for winter running underneath lots of layers so nobody can see it. We were walking around Arlington, VA today and saw a lady out for a run wearing hers. I am so disappointed! It is hideous!

I’ve laughed so much over this shirt for the past few days. I hope race organizers take the negative comments to heart and change their shirts next year.
Omg. I feel like they're doing this on purpose now.
I’m here...it’s like they’re all ‘but it’s just not UGLY enough’
The mock neck, the fleece lined, now this???
Exactly. I never wear mine from 2016. The neck annoys me and it's too thick for all but the most frigid weather. And that baby poop yellow tan? And the graphics aren't great either. The scale feels off.
I cheered people on today at MCM (handing out water and candy) and saw lots of people wearing them actually so I guess some people liked them.
Honestly, I think they look better in person. I saw one today and thought cool shirt and then saw a bunch of people wearing them and realized it was the race shirt. H liked them too.

Did they? Because my money is on them being the sacrificial toss shirt. Lol

I was at mile 22.5 so there weren’t too many more miles to toss them.
Lololol. It’s almost so bad it’s good. I love how someone must have been all “you know what every runner wants? A mock turtleneck!” Lol.
I am here. I think it IS so bad that it's good. Like, those awful t-shirts with wolves howling at the moon and bald eagles flying over and shit. Like, how much can we cram into one awful shirt--here! we've done it!
I would wear the crap out of it lol.
But I love finding tacky shit and rocking it ironically.

Thank you for the water and candy! I ran it yesterday and I remember exactly where you were (little cups of water?) Much better than the fireball shots people were handing out, especially when I saw two dudes yacking right after taking that

Yep! So glad you liked it. It was a lot of fun. Hope to be back next year.

How was your race?
I didn’t train really well, so the race was okay. Gorgeous scenery, great vibe from the crowd. I added like 20 minutes from my last marathon two years ago. I really appreciated the water at that point though, it was very needed.

I saw some guy cut the shirt strait up from the middle of the front and it looked like a suit jacket. It seemed much better that way. Maybe their goal is to have a hideous shirt?

Someone from the organization I work for is featured prominently on the shirt lol. 🤐
I keep thinking about the conversations around the review committee who approved this:
Bob from hr: "omg I love it!" Susan who doesnt run "it really represents the feeling of the race!" Carol who runs and has a degree from FIT: "I dont like it..I have some questions"
