Today: grocery shopping this morning, going to Disneyland at 1:30! My step mom is coming with us and we are mainly going for Paint the Night parade tonight (first time taking the boys to the night stuff)! Hoping to do Haunted Mansion too since they are all into Halloween decorations right now.
Weds: preschool, trick or treating with the boys. My parents will likely come to at least see them in their costumes
Thurs: all the work for DH’s surprise bday party...his parents will be here all day to help and everyone will be here around 5 to surprise him when he gets home.
Fri: preschool and chores
Sat: soccer. We also have a celebration of life event for a good friend who recently lost her dad
Not a lot going on this week, which I'm grateful for! I have a half day on Wednesday so I can go to J's halloween party. I think we are then trick or treating with my sister's kids that night. Sunday we are getting family photos taken. Other than that, just getting some end of quarter stuff done.
Mention of the mass shooting mentioned: PDQ
The synagogue shooting was about 20 minutes from me. We saw SWAT vehicles driving from our area while we were out, but didn't know anything terrible was going on until an hour or so later. I went to graduate school right behind the synagogue, and spent a lot of time in the neighborhood, but that's my only personal connection to it. It's been a strange weekend trying to figure out how to react and go about our days. I just found out this morning though that one of the victims ran a medical office in the community where I teach, and that his wife, who survived, is the visiting dentist for the district I teach in.
M - music class, grocery pick up T - possible playdate W - DH has his next interview for the possible new job. I'm planning on getting the girls out of the house because it's a video call. Going trunk or treating that evening Th - maybe lunch with my mom and grandma. F - storytime
Sunday DH and I have Cirque du Soleil tickets! I'm so pumped. It will be our 4th show I believe. We will drop the girls off at the in-laws and get in a full date day!
I am so excited that, other than therapy today, I don't have any appointments or obligations this week. I'm over October, I'm ready for the month to be over, and I'm hoping that November goes a little bit easier on me.

I start my new job this afternoon. I’m usually in bed by 10 but I work until 10:30. I’m chugging all the coffee! I’m happy to be working again!
We are about to go to the new pizza place down the road. They aren’t officially open but are doing free pizza for a donation to the local humane society.
This weekend is an air show. We can currently hearing them practicing so DH is ready to sprint out the door to watch. We are planning on going Sunday. Two of his friends are coming too. One is staying here the whole weekend so I need to prep the spare room.

H took the cats into the vet today to get checked while we're at work. Kinda gross - One of them (we think we know which one but not 100% sure) has been puking up pinkish liquid. This is the 3rd time it's happened so I want to make sure everything is ok. Also they're overdue for shots so hopefully they can just do those while they're there.
Halloween we will probably go ToTing around the neighborhood.
This weekend H is going hunting with his dad and brother, and uncles who invited themselves along this year. Apparently the one uncle is going to keep his deer for himself if he gets one but expects a larger share of anyone else's deer because somehow H, FIL, and BIL count as "one family". So.. that'll be interesting. Lol. Glad I don't hunt or I'd refuse to let him go if he was pulling stuff like that! Usually they split what they get regardless of who actually shoots it. *shrug*

((suzv)) I had a lot of feelings when I learned the news - I haven't lived in the Burgh in a while but being a Pitt student I of course know that area and I have a few Jewish friends in Pittsburgh. Seeing people post that they were safe on FB hit me in a way that the previous mass shootings haven't.

I'm excited for Halloween! We'll go ToTing in the neighborhood and I'm also excited to give out candy. Hopefully we get a decent amount of kids, since it's our 1st year in this neighborhood we're not exactly sure what to expect.
My parents might be coming down the end of the week, not 100% sure though. Otherwise pretty quiet.
Thanks everyone! HoneySpider, it's such a great neighborhood. I went to grad school at Chatham and they were using it as a reunification spot. It's just feels so crazy to have had something so horrific happen so close by and to recognize so much of the area when seeing it on TV. I'm glad your friends were safe.
Today I have a dr. appt for myself, Tues. flu shots for the kids, Weds. trick or treating with SIL, BIL, ILs, their spouses and kids. And my brother who goes to college locally just asked to come with us too. We're going to be an entourage. I hope no one is expecting me to feed them, because I'm not. I don't have time!
This Saturday we have to go to my parents for the weekend. Two of my brothers are celebrating birthdays so we'll have a party to celebrate. I'm not looking forward to the weekend- we'll have to travel during naptime so that means I will get zero downtime. And then I still need to figure out how to get a full weekend of chores crammed into just Sunday evening. I want to see the family, but I wish somehow it just wouldn't require so much WORK on my part to make it happen.
Mon: working Tues: hair appointment, finish homework for the week. Wed: ANATOMY SCAN! And fetal echo. Probably try to vote. And get started on this upcoming week's homework. Trunk or treat or a Halloween party that night. Thurs, Fri: working Sat: no plans. Probably more homework, watch football.
We just got home from Disneyland and had the best time! First time at night with the boys and it was perfect! We did Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and Paint the Night Parade as first time experiences (along with Mater and Little Mermaid)- Haunted Mansion and Paint the Night Parade were huge hits for everyone! So worth it! And they did great with sleeping on the way home and transferring (another first)!
luv2rn4fun The Paint the Night parade is my favorite! They're apparently stopping it which makes me sad but I'm hoping they move it to Disney World instead. E never got to see it because he went back to the hotel with my parents!

Yes, it ends 11/7. I was going back and forth whether to take them because it’s so late but last night was 7:45 vs 8:50 or later. It was SO much fun and glad we did it...but L has been up all night 🙁. Not sure we will be doing anything like this again anytime soon...
ETA: I wonder what they are going to do in its place once it’s gone. They have it at CA Adventure vs Disneyland (which has Pixar Play, soon will have the Christmas parade, Fantasmic, and fireworks). I think we will do the Christmas parade when we go in Dec just before C’s bday...they have one at 3:30 so that should be much better for them.
No hair appointment today. I'm irrationally upset. First of all, I don't want to get back in the shower to wash and fix my hair. I was prepared to pay someone to do it (and our one blow dry bar in town doesn't have any openings). Second of all, my appointment was at 9 am. I was in the salon waiting, and my stylist texted me at 9:03 to tell me a pipe burst in her house and can we reschedule? I did of course, for next Monday. I understand the reason, she cant help that, but... tell me earlier. Before I drive over to the other side of town and am sitting and waiting for you.
And I'm so nonconfrontational that I'll likely not mention it at all.
We missed our playdate yesterday because G was not having it. She just kept melting down and finally fell asleep in a chair. After C woke up (and woke up G) G just started crying all over again. I sent her to her room with her tablet and closed the door so she had some quiet time by herself. She was much better after 30 minutes, but man I was bummed we missed our playdate! It's the third one we have missed with this particular family (2 times they had to cancel, and we cancelled yesterday). It's so hard to try and keep up with our friends after the kids start school.
DH has his 2nd interview today. He is pretty pumped about the whole situation. He also applied for another job with this company yesterday. A little higher position and a little closer to home. We'll see how it all goes. He is having a video call interview during nap time so I'm going to try and keep the girls out of the house so he doesn't have to worry about noise. Today will probably be a mess with napping/bed time since our entire day will be thrown off but at least it's just one day!

We got home earlier than usual and we're getting dinner together at like 515. There was already a lady and her 2 kids coming up to ToT. Dude. It's not even dark and we don't have our lights on. We weren't planning on handing out candy tonight. Isn't it common knowledge that you don't go out until after dinner time and only go to houses with their lights on in the front/porch/etc? So weird.

Eh, we were out at 5:30. We wanted to get done before the sun set and the temperature dropped like 15 degrees.

530 seems a little more reasonable. We saw them at another house as we were getting home and it was barely after 5. I feel like people are barely even home from work then if at all (we usually get home closer to 545-6). The time doesn't bother me as much as going to houses without their lights on. Maybe it's regional but we never went to houses without lights on because that indicated the person wasn't home or wasn't handing out candy for whatever reason. Just weird to me for them to try every house and probably not getting that many people to answer.
Our cities have set TOT times. Is that not the norm? Also, we only ever have TOT on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday...doesn't matter when the 31st actually is.
We don't have set times, no. And it's always been on Halloween as long as I can remember, though there are usually other ToTing events going on the weekend before (like the expo we went to Sat).
We don’t have set times and Halloween/ToTing is always on the 31st. We started just after 6p last night and we did go to a couple houses where the lights weren’t on and the owners were home and handing out candy (I realize this isn’t there norm...we did leave early from the houses without lights if they didn’t answer).
It’s DH’s 40th bday today! He is at work and planning to leave at 5 (would leave earlier but it’s month end for him). His parent should be here by 10:30. I have already made two cake sheets. Still need to prep dinner (3 enchilada casseroles), decorate the cake, and decorate the house...and somehow keep it clean today! DH’s BFF, his parents, and my parents will be here to surprise him when he gets home! Excited to celebrate him tonight!
Surprise party was a big success!! He had no idea! I heard the garage open and we all stayed in the playroom. He took forever to come in (thought maybe he was talking with a neighbor) so I quickly opened the garage and closed it to confirm it was him, which it was. He was shocked when he saw his parents, BFF, and my parents! Everyone had a great time, food and cake were great, and a few drinks! It was a ton of work to pull it all off but glad we did it! Now time to start planning C’s bday (who now wants a BIG cake like L and DH vs the easy cupcakes he has been talking about for months!) and Christmas!
