I dread how sugared up BB is going to be today. They have a parade and party at daycare and they will have cupcakes and other treats. We've been able to limit the candy at home after a trunk or treat on Sunday, but she seriously comes home each day and the first thing out of her mouth is "I WANT CANDY". Plus she's so jazzed up about the holiday she has stopped listening.
Meanwhile I had a double chocolate chip muffin from Costco for breakfast. I am not one to talk.
ETA: But I am wearing my 'pumpkin pi' t shirt today and it makes me happy. I bought it bc BB kept asking me what my costume is going to be, and I didn't have anything. She loves it, but of course she just calls it my pumpkin shirt.
DD is already a mess from her schedule being completely messed up this week and she’s sick with a cold. We are going to let her have fun tonight, but man. I am sooooo glad I get to drop her off at daycare tomorrow.
I just ate a really good donut. Today is going to be a mess for my waistline. I think I might give myself a pass for the day with the promise that it all ends tomorrow.
Our network is down at work (we got hacked) so I came in late and now I'm just chilling. This is such a waste of time.
We're going to TOT tonight with DS. We'll see what happens. Yesterday when I picked him up from school the teacher looked...DONE. DS was sitting alone in a high chair and I was like "what's up?!?". She was like "I don't know what's up today but he was terrible all day". Haha. Poor teachers. He was a bit hyped up last night.
The nice part about using a daycare that is part of a 7th Day Adventist school is that they don’t celebrate Halloween, so no parties or candy there. Though J started preschool at the local public school this year and they are doing a party. I’ve been away all week so J didn’t bring anything, I feel and about it. I also need to do my background check for the school because I would have loved to try to be there.
I’m going to try to limit him to his age in candy every day (4) and if MH’s grandfather says something about it tonight after ToTing, I might go off on him. He feeds him a bunch of junk when he’s there and the other day he told me he thinks J is getting pudgy. Yeah, cause you feed him shit.
I walked out of my house without my car keys and locked the door. Whoops. Had to call my h who thankfully works one mile away and he came and rescued me. Luckily ds2 has boots on, he was happy to walk in the snow.
Was 30 min late to work though bc I also had to stop and get a veggie tray for our potluck.
Hoping the rest of the day goes ok! And hopefully the snow melts for trick or treating tonight.
J had his cute Halloween parade at school this morning. They went trick or treating through the local police Preceint. I have the opposite problem as most of you - my weirdo child turned down milky ways! Need to work on his response to that before trick or treating tonight. 😂 Only candy he really likes is lollipops, so he was happy they were handing out those too.
MH picked up DD from daycare yesterday and showed me a flyer they sent home about a classroom party being held today. It said to send in treats if you want. I saw on their overall October calendar that they'd be having classroom parties but I didn't know we'd be expected* to send in treats. Especially since they already did a Trunk or Treat a few weeks ago where we handed out treats.
So I went to ShopRite after DD fell asleep last night and spent a good 25 minutes looking around for something to send in ... mini cupcakes? I was about to grab the little pack of School Safe cupcakes when I thought to myself, "Are they eating all this stuff in class or being sent home with it?" Because loose cupcakes obviously don't travel well.
Bananas? Clementines and draw Jack o' Lantern faces on them? (They didn't have those big bags of little oranges, of course.)
Goldfish packets? (10 kids in the class, and of course they were out of the big Halloween bag of Goldfish, and the everyday Goldfish only come in cartons of 9.)
Individual pouches, since HappyTot was on sale for 88 cents each?
I was texting back and forth with MH trying to think up ideas. Finally I just grabbed a box of 12 applesauce pouches and called it good.
*Not the kind of place where we'd be shunned if we didn't send something in, but ya know.
Also, we took her to the Trunk or Treat dressed as a bumblebee, complete with a little striped hat my sister knit for her. I sent her in in the same hat the following week - grabbed it last-minute on the way out the door since it was cold out and I knew they'd be taking them outside that day. Yeah, they lost the hat and have absolutely no idea where it is. They said they looked all over, and I don't doubt that, but I'm still pissy that she only wore it twice and now it's apparently gone forever. Or that someone may have just helped themself to a free hat.
Update, they found the hat!!! I am way too over-invested in this damn hat, lol. Especially since DD rips off hats and hair bows immediately.
PS - I have an English degree. You wouldn't know it from this mess I posted.

We trick-or-treated last night -- the city moved ToT up due to some alleged severe weather tonight. It is currently 70 and sunny, so we'll see if it was the right call. The kids had a blast and my 20-month-old walked almost the entire neighborhood. She was into it.
Heading to DS' preschool costume parade shortly. I'm thinking we will order pizza and watch a Halloween movie tonight to remain festive. There are a lot of indoor ToT options, but I have zero interest in fighting the crowds.
Our daycare does pajama day on Halloween to avoid messing up/losing costumes before trick or treating (costume day is next week). His teacher just sent me a photo of the class and one parent clearly didn't get the memo and sent their kid in an elaborate puppy costume, so the photo is 7 kids in PJs and and an angry little puppy. I can't stop laughing at the photo and the thought of that mom/dad getting the photo and being all "fuck....." lol
I lost DS1's Halloween costume. No idea where it is and I've looked in all the spots I could think of. So I loaded up the four boys and went to Target and got another one. I figure more dress up clothes if we ever find it.
My kiddo busted open his lip last night. Can’t close his mouth (constant drool), won’t eat or drink anything. Poor buddy. I hope he can rally for Halloween.
numbers, I have a pair of Rothy's - the round toe. I love them, they're super comfortable right out of box.
mbcdefg I noticed there was a short sign up for parents to bring things to their party today. I only noticed it on Monday and all the slots were taken, so I thought I'd see if I can bring something else. I spent 2 minutes at Target to see if I could find a non-candy treat and said "eff it" bc I just couldn't care. You are better than me.

Friend, I have to be perfectly honest with you ... I only went to ShopRite for the Halloween treats last night because I also wanted some cake for me and D.

OMG I love it. I would do the same!!
lolol yes, otherwise those kids were getting (if anything) pennies from the change jar
I wish I had worked from home today. Everyone in my office goes nuts with costumes, decorations etc. It’s also dog friendly so that includes dogs too. I mean I like the candy, but I haven’t dressed up since high school and I’m not about to start now lol. I had to make phone calls this morning and I couldn’t because everyone was running around yelling about costumes. I was so annoyed. BAH HUMBUG! Lol
The twins wore their Incredibles pj’s to dayhome today which was cute though. And they’ll wear their glow in the dark skeleton pj’s to help us hand out candy. I’m looking forward to that!
I'm pretty sure Hobbes is going to explode, between Halloween today, and tomorrow AM is her first field trip (fire station). They're going to ride on a city bus, which will be a new experience for her, and she is stoked beyond words.
I had my first u/s this AM for pregnancy #2, and measured pretty much on track. I am 9w and measured 8w5d, healthy heart rate of 167. I am relieved and feel like it's ok to get excited. I also have a Rx for NIPT to be done anytime after 10w, so starting a week from now. I might have results by Thanksgiving, which would be great to have before it becomes widely known in the family, since my next app't isn't until 11/30.
We go to a Jewish daycare, so no Halloween costumes for us today. Can't wait to take them TOT tonight. J will want to wear his dinosaur costume the moment I get home, and I'm hoping R's pineapple costume is not too big. It's Carters, 12-24 months, but she literally just turned one.
our preschool doesn't do holiday parties and I love it! They are like "you will get PLENTY of that stuff in elementary school we are gonna pass." I picked up our jack o lantern pizza from Papa Murphys already so we are set for dinner.
I need to take a shower while the toddler is napping. The costume parade at the elementary school is at 2:30 and I volunteered to help with the classroom party after. The room mom arranged everything and never made a sign up genius or anything for food. So I assume she is just buying it with the party money we chipped in at the beginning of the year. I'm curious to see if she can make that money stretch for the 3 holiday parties they'll have this year! If so I'll be super impressed since it was only $102 total IF everyone contributed.
I am taking my oldest TOTing with a friend tonight, not sure what the plan is for our toddler. My in laws are here so they can help. They leave tomorrow and I'm ready to have my house and routine back.
Yay, great news Susie! I'm jealous; my first OB appt isn't until I'm 11+3 and THEN they'll schedule my NIPT. I'm def not getting it back until after Thanksgiving which is a bummer. I did have 2 ultrasounds with the RE earlier in my pregnancy but a lot can happen between 7 weeks and 12/13 weeks...
scm1011 , there seems to be SO much variability in how different practices do things, especially at the beginning of pregnancy. I was going to switch practices, but ended up staying with mine for now mostly because their test schedule and u/s schedule is very proactive and calming to my nerves (as long as you can wait until 8-10w to be seen the first time).
Ultimately I can't wait to have kid #2 (our last) here so we can move on from this stressful phase of life.
I am jealous of the day cares that don't do anything, our previous center was like that and I loved it. They didn't recognize any holidays and I was totally OK with that.
raangoli, I LOVE that shirt! where did you get it?
I feel like an adult today. Dropped E off at daycare, then anatomy scan and fetal echo (baby looks "gorgeous" per MFM and my placenta is no longer previa, yay), then I voted, and got coffee, then an information meeting at work re: new benefits. I came home and looked into benefits further and I sent off an email re: my maternity leave. Now I'm taking a late lunch break before I start on my schoolwork for this week.
Planning to pick up E from daycare, change into costumes then off to a Halloween party rather than true ToTing because it's really cold and rainy here. E was sad he wasn't wearing a costume when he got to daycare, but only one other kid was wearing hers, so *shrugs.*
