Only two months left in the year! What did you read in October? On track for your reading goal (if you have one)? Which book was your favorite for the month?
October was an absolutely horrible month of reading for me. I started out by reading Jodi Picoult's newest A Spark of Light and it was SO SO bad. 0 stars, lol.
Otherwise I read a bunch of Judy Blume and re-read a HP book.
Currently reading Kingdom of Ash and am loving it but that will wait until November. It may take me all month to read it, too!
The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter 4* there were a lot of twists that were really interesting and again something that related to things happening IRL.
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle 3* finally got around to reading this. I'm going to watch the movie now. I heard it is not good.
Consumed by J.R. Ward 3* I just couldn't get into the story. It was her normal formula for the love story. The background story didn't add up for me.
I'm at 49/52 for my goal. There are a couple of books I have checked out from the library that I want to finish up but then I think I'm going to try to read ABOSAA. I've been putting it off because I know it will take me a month to read and didn't want to miss my goal. Since I'll meet my goal early, I'm going to finally get it done!
Descendant: The Revelations of Oriceran (The Kacy Chronicles, #1) by AL Knorr - 3*
Ascendant: The Revelations of Oriceran (The Kacy Chronicles, #2) by AL Knorr - 3*
Practical Magic (Practical Magic, #2) by Alice Hoffman - 3*
Wisteria Wyverns (Wisteria Witches, #5) by Angela Pepper - 4*
Heir of the Dog (Black Dog, #2) by Hailey Edwards - 4*
An Unwelcome Quest (Magic 2.0, #3) by Scott Meyer - 5*
Fallen Academy: Year One by Leia Stone - 4*
I'm at 67/50 books for the year. I should probably up my goal, but eh. My favorite book was An Unwelcome Quest by Scott Meyer. This series regularly has me laughing out loud.
A Darker Shade of Magic - 4.5* Really enjoyed this! Definitely my favorite of two I read last month. Transcription by Kate Atkinson - 3* The writing was fine but the plot was rather dull and disappointing.
I am at 30/30 for the year and will leave it there. I already upped it once from my original goal of 25. Next year I will be out of school so I am hoping I can get it back to 50.
October was: Body of Work - Meditations on Mortality From the Human Anatomy Lab by Christine Montross - 5 stars (I thought it was great, but it's probably not for everyone) The Senator Next Door - A Memoir from the Heartland by Amy Klobuchar - 4 stars (who knows, maybe she'll be the next US President) Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine - 3.5 stars To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han (YA) - 4 stars
That puts me at 66 for the year... my initial goal was 52 but now I'm aiming for 75.

I had a really good October. I hit my goal of 52 for the year so I'm excited about that. Here's what I read:
Physical/kindle books Rumor Has It by Jill Mansell *** Easy, light read. What I needed at the time. Digest by Gregory Pardlo ** I've been trying to incorporate more poetry into my reading. This one was a little out of my league I think. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ***** This was the textbook by Newt Scamandar, not the screenplay. So good Carrie by Stephen King ** I was a little disappointed. I wanted more out of the ending.
Audiobooks Lethal White by Robert Galbraith (J.K.) **** Loved this one. Keep 'em coming J.K. Time's Convert by Deborah Harkness **** Good to be back with those characters again. Us Against You by Fredrick Backman *** I really liked this but the "twists" felt a little formulaic by the end.
I did not read a lot in October. I had two bad colds which messed with my concentration and I started a few books and didn’t like them.
The Darkest Corners Kara Thomas. **1/2 The Borrower Rebecca Makkai ***** All You Can Ever Know Nicole Chung *** Field of Bones J.A. Jance 1/2 (I don’t think I will read her books again, this was pretty grim yet oddly boring) The Witch Elm Tana French*** Burning Down the Haus: Punk Rock, Revolution, and the Fall of the Berlin Wall Tim Mohr **** (this was pretty dense/detailed but interesting)
I’m at 236 for the year. I don’t really have a goal.
Read: 4* Under the Dome by Stephen King 3* Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows
Audio: 3* Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell 3* American Fire: Love, Arson and Life in a Vanishing America by Monica Hesse (I expected a different story on this one. It wasn’t bad, just not really as I thought it would be).
Never Let Me Go 3* by Kazuo Ishiguro - for IRL book club. Not my favorite read, but led to a good discussion. The Stone Sky (book 3) 4* by NK Jemisin - really glad I read the series. We Begin Our Ascent 4* by Joe Mungo Reed - I love the Tour de France and this book was s delight for me! My favorite for the month. The Wednesday Sisters 3* by Meg Waite Clayton - an easy read about female friendship.
I have 55/52 books for the year. I have changed it once and will just see how many I get read!

I finished "After you" by JoJo Myers 3.5*s...good but not the best in the series
Finished "The Start of You and Me" by Emory Lord 3.5*S
Read "The Couple Next Door" 3*s
So behind on my goal. I'm halfway through book 18 with a goal of 24. With how crazy this year has been I'm happy to be that high. Hopefully I can hit 20 by years end.
An Unwelcome Quest (Magic 2.0, #3) by Scott Meyer - 5*

I went to look this one up and the first result was for a '[Kindle in Motion]' edition*:
"This book can be read on any device, including Kindle E-readers. Kindle in Motion books include art, animation, or video features that can be viewed on certain Fire tablets and the free Kindle app for iOS and Android. You can switch features on or off at any time. "
I'm not really sure how I feel about this in my books (I prefer paper books, and second prefer my Kindle to my phone/computer screen), but I'm curious. Is this the wave of the future? Or is it just Amazon trying to find a way to corner the market and make $$$?
