I don't know why but I am stumped as to what color tablecloth color I should get. Picture of dining room below. Rug and full fabric chairs are oatmeal colored. Wood chairs are light gray paint with cream seats. Walls are SW Granite Peak (dark blue/slate gray) and curtains are white.
Look, the only reason I use a tablecloth is when I put the padded topper on the dining room table. I thought just old tables came with those - mine is my grandma's 1930's table, so it has this folding pad that's about half an inch thick made of felt and some crappy vinyl. The vinyl is super fug, so it has to be covered, but it keeps hot plates from damaging the table, though, so I use it when we host holidays.
If you're just talking about putting a piece of fabric over the bare wood, save yourself some laundry and don't do it! You just end up trying to spot treat grease stains every time it gets used.

chalupa, no, they still make those. I've seen them in Bed Bath and Beyond.
Given how stupidly expensive the table was, we don't want it getting scratched by dishes. My family is not exactly gentle with things. My mom put a permanent indentation of an address in our kitchen table because she wrote something down on a piece of paper with nothing underneath. When I'm having nice dinner parties, I feel like a boob using placemats so I want a tablecloth.
