For any of you that had spouses graduate from OTS / OCS (or any type of training, really), did you give him/her a graduation gift? I'm thinking it would be nice to give him something but still looking for ideas...
Husband is 28 ("old" for OTS) and left a career, and wife / 2-month old at home to pursue this dream. I'm so proud of him and think a small gift may be appropriate.
I gave H an iPad 3 for UPT graduation. He really wanted one so he could use ForeFlight in the jet. My ILs got him the enhanced GPS thingy to go with it to make it FAA-acceptable.

My husband really likes all of the challenge coins (military tradition) so I got him one engraved with his name, new rank, date of commissioning and a Bible verse that has meaning to us as a family, and on the other side was just the USAF symbol. I also got him a really nice "pilot" watch since that is his new career field, but mostly because he likes watches. A gift is definitely appropriate!
My base just recently started giving pilots ipads! Pretty cool!
They aren't handing them out like candy. The iPads are for work and aren't allowed to leave the plane. (or squad) At least that is the case at my H's base.

brandi, I didn't get anything for H either. Although, we were just barely starting to date when he graduated UPT. But we'd been close for years before that. I would have given him a gift if I knew it was what people did. I didn't even go.
I don't think his family got him anything, either. They showed up and managed to eat at the same dinner table and not fight, so that was the gift Apparently they hadn't been in the same room for many years, not even when they came to our college graduation.
I never got any gifts for graduating OTS and neither did my husband. I actually don't know anyone in my class that got a gift, so I don't think it's an expected thing. If anything, I'd probably get someone a coin holder (shelf type thing to hold coins.)
