Good luck to gt7301b and campermom in the Richmond marathon!!! I'm doing the half and going to try to be at the finish line cheering people on after I'm done.

I'm doing a 5k on Sunday, mostly for the running socks they are giving to participants. I've done a few races for the same foundation so I have a winter hat, scarf, and two shirts.
Thank you! Good luck to all the racers this weekend!
campermom , how was your race? I hope it went well!
Hi! I ran 4:4x:xx and was pretty happy with that! It was awesome for the first 17 miles. I took pictures with dinosaurs, people with funny signs, flamingos, etc. My pace was a perfect 10:37 for the first half.
At 17 My H (and 3 kids) texted me to say he was lost, and that really set me back. I lost focus, and my phone was getting low and the pacer group I was ahead of caught up to me. I lost a few minutes to fish out my battery booster which didn't even have the right cord, so my phone eventually died. That really threw me off my game. I spent a lot of energy trying to focus on positives. I did trudge through, but at mile 23 I stopped to stretch and some tears just started rolling, I remember saying out loud a couple of times, "This is just really hard!"
I made a new running friend for 4 of the hardest miles. We had both embarked on our first marathon, both wanted 4:45 that slipped through our grips, and both knew that we would be happy with being under 5 as a new goal.
Richmond has THE most amazing crowd I have ever seen. The race support was also the best-water and Powerade every 2 miles from 1-20 and then every mile thereafter!
My family was waiting at mile 25 and I stopped to kiss each one of my kids and my husband. I could tell he was really proud of me. I said a few times...."This is really really hard!"
I had dedicated one mile to a different loved one from 19 on, and the last mile belonged to me. Mile 24 my pace was in the 11-12 range and my mile (number 25) was a 9:45. I embraced that downhill and every person who shouted repeatedly, "just a right turn, a left turn then downhill!"
The end end was amazing. I loved the downhill chute.
Post race Day 3 and I want to do it again. I want to beat my time and I know I can
