Santa will either bring an overnight somewhere like GWL or a game system or something I haven’t thought of yet. Recs on good game systems for tween girls AND six year old boys? We aren’t the family whose eight year old will be playing Halo or COD. So I kind of think no game system. It’s only on the table because of Santa, that jerk. Or other ideas for kids 6, 11 and 14?
So far, LOL Dolls. They haven't been requested, but they love them and I grabbed them early before they sell out.
We haven't even broached the "list for Santa" discussion yet and my kids have a history of requesting pretty random stuff. Case in point: Last year they asked Santa to fix our outdoor electrical outlets so that we could have decorations like the other houses. The year before, x-rays.

The only thing my almost 7yo wants in the whole wide world is a Hatchimal that sings (do they all sing? God help us all if I buy a non-singing one..) and to “go to a ranch and ride a horse and take care of animals”
So she’s getting a Hatchimal for her December birthday and a gift card for horse riding lessons at a local horse rescue for christmas.
DD2, who is almost 4, is getting ninja classes and ....I’ve got nothing.
My kid is so concerned about getting lights on the house she hasn’t even thought of presents yet.
My in laws ruin every holiday, including Christmas for me by buying everything in sight... and telling me in advance. Santa buys them each a small gift or two off their list. Mom and Dad buy something each as well, but the fun in it is ruined because I just think how much it is.
But I cant complain to them because (a) they won’t listen anyways and (b) I feel bad questioning their language of love.
They get my kids too much, and they get me guilt. And that we don’t have space for all that crap.
Easter baskets, for example, were about $400 each worth of stuff. I can’t/don’t want to compete with that.
ETA: I don’t think you were requesting a rant. Sorry.

The switch is fun for both ages. It has more party type games like Mario kart and MARIO oddeyessy and Minecraft vs war games. Smash brothers is also on his list.

I'm just curious, did they need xrays or did they just think seeing their bones would be cool? Either way, both things make me laugh. It's like their 75 years old, lol!!
mustardseed2007 and twinmomma - my first thought was .... the state of healthcare in America - four year olds asking for X-rays. Then I realized it was probably for fun.
Pretty sure X-rays make none of my apparently injury prone kids’ lists!
Wondering about deals on the Switch...
And rules for games. I think I will go with no screens with the manny or a “screen day” like Wednesday and then an hour otherwise. So much to ponder.
mustardseed2007, They were just intrigued with the concept of x-rays, so they wanted to see some in real life. LOL I ended up finding some pretend ones on Amazon at the last minute.
2chatter, We max out all screen time to an hour on weeknights, TV and tablet combined. Weekends they get to watch a movie and potentially do tablet time, if they bother asking. Yesterday I said something at after care about the girls losing screen time if they didn't cooperate and pack up their stuff. The other kids were like "What does that mean?" and couldn't believe that there was any kind of limit on tablets or TV when my kids explained what "screen time" means.
We are trying hard not to go down the gaming rabbit hole, but mine are still young, so we shall see what happens when they are teenagers. If you do get a system, then I totally agree with starting the screen rules right away and being consistent. My nephews throw fits over it, I guess (13) and plays all day long when left home alone.
DS- Anything for his favorite NFL team right now. He asked for Nerf Guns
DD- She asked for lots of random stuff. bath toys/ puffs, guitar, singing rainbow dash, Chelsea (Barbie's sister), Purple soccer ball, Mermaid Barbie, Barbie Dream house, Barbie puppy. Sweaters and warm tops for winter.
I don't know what I am getting them, family is getting them, or Santa. Santa usually gets them the stocking each year and a couple of presents. Big stuff comes from mom and dad, not Santa.
We are lame, but Santa only brings the stocking at our house. Usually there will be a significant gift card in there for our older boys. The little ones do not care. My MIL likes to give big gifts and I am 100% okay with that. DH and I don't really want Santa to bring the big gifts. Goes back to trying to teach them the value of money, plus 4 kids.
Anything that plays Mario Kart and Just Dance. Those were the best family games for us.
Dd is getting a new phone, because how can she survive with her current phone, it is so ancient.
Dd will turn 16 in April and want tires for his truck. I am not really sure how that will work under the tree. I am hoping we can figure out something else.
Santa still comes to our house and I still want that Christmas morning excitement. DD will be thrilled to see a new phone under the tree along with probably an out fit and stockings, but tires??? Under the tree???

My conversation with DS: Me: What do you want for Christmas? DS: Whatever Santa wants to bring me. Me: What do you want Santa to bring you? DS: I don't know what he has since I've never been to the North Pole.

For DS - Lego Creative Boost Tool kit For DD - no idea. Someone help me! DD is 3.5 and I have no idea what she likes. She plays with her brother's toys. She does enjoy playing kitchen (she already has one), no interest in dolls, and then I really don't know. If we take her to a toy store, she wants to buy everything, so that's not helpful.

I think we're doing a couple days at GWL (mostly just because I want to go). We'll do a stocking for each and 1 gift from Santa - but have no idea what that will be...
I love the Great Wolf Lodge idea! Maybe that’s our big gift to the kids.
DS wants Power Rangers stuff. DD wants Harry Potter stuff. That’s about all I know. I think Christmas may be small this year just because my kids already have SO MUCH STUFF.
I’m thinking a small Christmas here too. Because none of them are easy. DD will name incredibly specific clothing items (like a Nike women’s windbreaker in maroon and white and black - not the easy to find maroon and white from last year.
Other DD will make crap like art kits.
DS will say there isn’t anything he wants because all he wants is more screen time.

If we lived in Dallas we would do GWL. I don't think I want to drive up there again. The kids had so much fun last time we went...I was terribly terribly exaughsted by it.
Santa brings one gift at our house and then I fill the stockings. I haven’t heard what DS or DD may want yet. And DD’s birthday is New Year’s Eve, so I buy for that at Christmas. For all the GWL fans, we have started going somewhere similar (kalahari) every year on Christmas Day. We buy a giant room where everyone stays the night on DH’s side, and I don’t have to buy people junk. It’s a total win.
I bought the 3 of us tickets to see the lion king live on the 18th January. Getting DD a gear marble stem thing just so she has a toy to open. Otherwise I do wear, read, do/activity craft, and need.
I think she is going to ask for the Melissa and Doug grocery store. It’s too young for her and she has a play kitchen from her toddler years and the Melissa and Doug diner from last year (which she was too old for). I’m running out of room, but she does play with the other 2 so I will probably get it for her.

twinmomma, no Dash experience but DD1 used Ozobot at science camp last summer. It made quite the impression on her and also works with tablets. They used the Bit.
twinmomma, we were gifted an ozobot last year. DS has played with it a few times, but it mainly sits. I finally got an answer from them, they ant Jurassic park stuff....although neither has seen the movie.
