My DD is starting daycare December 17th. I know many people get their dcp gifts for Christmas and normally I'm in full support given how much time they are spending with my kid - but is it weird if I give them something when my DD will have only been there 5 days? skip it this year? thoughts?
My DD was there for three months by last Christmas. We didn't do individual teacher gifts, but one day before Christmas we brought in fresh bagels and a box of joe (coffee) for all of them.

I'd either skip or do $5-$10 Starbucks/Dunkin/Target gift cards depending on how many teachers she has/budget. You'd be fine doing nothing too, though, since you'll have just started.
in your situation, I may not give as much as I would if my kid had been attending the school for a year, but I would definitely give something. I would look at it as a good will investment.

Okay, here's a similar question. B moved up from Toddler 1 to Toddler 2 two weeks ago. Each class has two teachers. Do I buy gifts for all 4 teachers, or just for his 2 current teachers? (Not that it really matters, but he didn't move up to Toddler 1 from Infant until April or so, so we didn't give his Toddler 1 teachers anything last year.)

janegold, I think we're going to be in the same situation (Nov birthday, but there's been some delay in moving him up). I plan to give gifts to all 4 teachers. I probably would have given "goodbye" gifts when he left the room anyway though.

I've had to deal with this before and decided to get gifts for all 4 teachers. They don't have to be of equal value, but it's nice to recognize the former teachers who cared for him while also letting the new teachers know you are looking forward to all of the great things that are to come. I'm all about being inclusive when it comes to daycare providers. They do so much and are entrusted with the loves of our lives. A little token goes a long way.

I’m in a similar situation. Dd moved from infant room to new (transitional to toddler)room a couple weeks ago. I feel like her old teachers should get something because they had her since she started in May. I’m having issues deciding on equal amounts or not...
Thanks icedcoffee and mx27, I think that's what I'm going to do. Admittedly, I am thankful for this thread because I have pretty much peaced out on holiday shopping this year (seriously, I bought my entire family tickets to a show and have done literally nothing else), and I might have forgotten our DCPs and housekeeper. Ugh, and the dog daycare people. And my ILs.

These are the only people I'm motivated to buy for, as they make my life easier and in no way give me any grief. My mother on the other hand...lol.
