Pretty quiet week for us which I'm ok with after traveling the last 2 weekends.
R had therapy this morning instead of tomorrow so it's over with already. DH is WFH tomorrow so I get a chance to run a few errands by myself (woohoo!)
Rest of the week is a random assortment of errands/Christmas shopping. We also need to order our Christmas cards which means we need to try and get a good photo of both of them.
Fri-Sun my parents are coming down, on Saturday we're going to see Santa get our tree, and start baking cookies. Should be a fun, festive weekend. We started getting out the decorations yesterday but still have the bulk of it to do.
T is getting a DOC band and we're waiting for the phone call to discuss the financials, once we get that we can schedule his fitting. So depending on when they call, we might be doing for that this week, which would be nice because next week is already going to be busy without adding that in too.
Another busy-ish week. We did manage to get the house decorated for Christmas over the weekend, so I'm glad that's done. We ended up with a live tree over 12 foot tall! It's taking up a huge portion of my living room, but both my H and kids are so enamored with it, I didn't have to the heart to voice my opinion of preferring a smaller tree. It does look beautiful.
Tuesday I have to attend the funeral of one of my former students. Terrible circumstances, and I currently have the student's little sister in class. A bunch of my colleagues and I are attending together after work, and I have a feeling we will be there quite a while. He was very loved.
Weds + Thurs I have after school meetings. I could potentially skip out on Thursday's but I'd feel guilty I'm sure.
Friday I bought another Groupon for JcPenney portraits. I'm going to attempt a solo trip to the mall with my kids to try and get some Christmas photos for cards. I'm so behind on it this year, but we currently have no useable pictures. I'm hopeful for just one good one. In the past, I've been very happy with my cheap Groupon photos.
Friday night is also my work's holiday gathering at a local pub. It's going to be tight getting the photos, getting the kids home, and then getting ready to go out. I'm trying to make more of an effort to do things for myself though, and I know I'd have a good time. Trying to work up the energy to get it all done!
((Hugs)) Blue Moon. Sorry to hear about your former student 🙁. Hope the service goes well. Also hope you are able to get everything done on Friday and still go out!
HoneySpider- I hope everything goes well with T getting his DOC band and that it isn’t too much money out of pocket.
Just thought we were getting over the plague in our house yesterday and then J spiked a high fever and was screaming that his mouth hurts (and nothing ever bothers him like that), so we were at urgent care for the second day in a row last night. He has tonsilitis and refuses the meds and puked all over both of us as we tried to give them. Fun.
Then, I don't know if E is having a reaction to his meds or what, but he won't sleep. Like at all. 15-minute nap yesterday afternoon and 15-minute stretches here or there all night. We are four nights with no sleep and on the verge of totally losing it.
We are on day nine of sickness in our house. I am slurring my words I am so exhausted. And did I mention I have to give s presentation in front of 20 people today? H has to take an unpaid day off to take care of the boys so I can do it.
Is it spring yet?! Get me out of this germ cesspool!!
So many ((Hugs)) krystee. That sounds awful. Praying everyone is healthy and sleeping normal soon. Any way one of your parents could help so you guys can get some sleep? Wishing you the best of luck today with your presentation! You are amazing and I am sure it will go well!
Not much going on here. DH’s birthday is Friday so I have to find a way to go out and get him a gift. Every time I go out he wants to go.
Saturday we may go to Disney or possibly a beer event. DH is still deciding what he wants to do to celebrate his birthday. I’m hoping Disney lol.
Sunday we are going to a tiki bar for lunch. Last Sunday when we walked past it they had a pirate there and that’s what’s making us want to go. Plus I have a coupon lol.
krystee, so many hugs! G has had tonsillitis twice, it was awful. I just pinned him down and tried to squirt the antibiotic in a little at a time. I read somewhere that if you blow in their face, it forces them to swallow. I don't know if it worked or what, but DH and I were blowing all over our poor kid's face. Something I've had success with before with B was to give a spoonful of chocolate syrup, then the medicine, then another spoonful of chocolate syrup. I've also squirted whipped cream directly into her mouth after taking meds to get the taste out. Whatever works!
As far as E, was he also diagnosed with tonsillitis? If you don't see improvement, I'd call the pedi back. Maybe he isn't responding to the antibiotics and needs something different. That sort of god awful sleep screams ear infection to me.
quietish week here after travelling the last 2 weeks. we did get the house decorated for Christmas on Saturday so yay (DH helped a lot this time, when I normally do it solo). I had an appointment for my hearing aid this morning (messed with the settings, hoping it helps) and have a chiro appointment this afternoon (much needed, my back/hips/groin are killing).
Thanks for the love, guys. I attended the funeral yesterday. It was tough, but I somehow managed to separate my grief in the moment to hold it together in front of the other students.
Well boo. My church was having a women's ministry brunch on Saturday morning that is now cancelled due to Winter Storm Diego (yes, it is now named). Apparently we're looking at icy roads. I also have a baby shower I'm supposed to be attending that afternoon but now it's looking like a last minute decision, if the roads aren't icy.
